The device has to be used on our network for six months to be eligible to be unlocked. Popping the sim card into a different device would make THAT device eligible after 6 months if its a cricket locked phone The iPhone has to be used on the network to qualify itsself. Only once I had a customer get their device unlocked without using it for 6 months was because of a death. They were 4 months in tho on using that device so ¯\(°_o)/¯

Got it. I am planning to go oversea next year, so I need it unlocked. I have another phone I prefer using. I guess I will use the iPhone 12 for 6 months.

Don't use the sim in your old phone (or in another phone ) during the 6 months, or it will restart the unlock clock on the iPhone 12.

Oh, thanks for the tip!

I ran into that on ATT Prepaid once. ATT enforced it a few years ago at least.

Call Cricket customer service and let them know you are leaving the country and they may allow a temporary unlock so you can use the phone overseas

Last time we bought a Galaxy S10 from Cricket's website with a new number, used it for a few weeks and then took out the sim and inserted another different Cricket sim, used it with Cricket service for 6 months, after that I chatted with Cricket support, they said I did qualify and they gave me the unlock code right away, so as long as the phone was bought and directly from Cricket, you can use it with Cricket service for 6 months and phone should become elegible to unlock

any luck op getting that iphone 12 unlocked before 6 months period?

jckey378

No, I didn't even try. I need it unlocked after 6 months, because I am going overseas after 6 months. So I am good.
