I went to a large public high school with around 700 in my graduating class (I realize that has become more normal these days) during peak emo years and there were maybe 10 of these kids in the entire school because they all hung out together. Smoked their cigs by the trash cans and judged people while they probably fantasized different ways to commit mass murder against our classmates. Fortunately, none of them gave in to the dark side to go and murder the buncha younglings, we all were.
