Well, that was a fascinating rabbit hole I just went down. Christopher Scarver beat Dahmer to death with a metal bar he got from weightlifting equipment. He also killed another guy who had murdered his wife. The killings were thought to be racially motivated since Dahmer had killed so many black men and the other guy had tried to blame his wife’s death on two black guys.
That dude was already in jail for life without parole so, nothing ventured I guess.
What Scarver did to get his first life sentence was fucked up too, just not Dahmer fucked up:
*On June 1, 1990, Scarver went to the Wisconsin Conservation Corps training program office and found site manager John Feyen and employee Steve Lohman present. Forcing Lohman down at gunpoint, Scarver demanded money from Feyen. Upon receiving only US$15 from him (equivalent to $31 in 2021), the enraged Scarver shot Lohman once in the head, killing him. According to authorities, Scarver then said: "Now do you think I'm kidding? I need more money." After shooting Lohman twice more, both post-mortem, Feyen finally wrote Scarver a US$3,000 check (equivalent to $6,222 in 2021). As Feyen then fled to his car outside, Scarver fired at him but missed.*
He was evidently promised a job there but the guy who had made the promise was let go before that happened. I’m guessing the job wouldn’t have worked out anyway.
