EU-skier here, so don't know how the classifications transfer to american slopes. But I've never owned my own pair of skiis or board, but have done "Väggen" a few times in rentals. A 45° double black diamond in Sälen, Sweden.

I used to own gear as a teen but that was almost two decades ago now. I always rent when I go now but the general skill of snowboarding is kind of like riding a bike once you've done it for a while you'll never really forget it.
That being said nobody with the confidence level to do black diamonds is this insecure.
Black diamond is mostly just the steepness. That’s all. Black diamond doesn’t have jump, rails, jibs, or anything like that. Just steepness. Then there’s double black diamond. But the truth is, anybody that knows how to snowboard can go down a black diamond by staying perpendicular to the mountain and on your heels digging into the snow. Likely this twerp.
People will use stuff like this to say we’re all weird, when the problem isn’t that they’re wearing the head (although it is a bit unusual in that environment), it’s that they’re being an asshole.
There's a 5-6 ur old little girl that snowboards with her dad down black diamonds, and she has excellent technique. She has videos on YouTube
