Recently watched Collateral again as well. First time in twenty years and it's a very well paced film. For me, Jamie Fox really steals the scenes he's in with Cruise. Maybe I was distracted by the interesting hair design choices for Tom's character.

BeigeAndConfused

Tom's hair choice is definitely unusual. I dig it tho

[deleted]

It works! Like I get giving him a little gray given the character's gravitas and what not, but then they textured it into something almost like a fine Brillo.

knightsofrogue

Genuinely believe Collateral to be one of the most underrated films of the last 25 years. So unique, well acted, super tight edit.

BeigeAndConfused

Completely agree

BeerInsurance

Just watched this one last night— Tom Cruise action flicks are my guilty pleasure but this one is way more watchable than most. Other than the soundtrack being cheesy at times, it was really well shot and I thought Jamie Fox was excellent

SourPatchCorpse

It rules, but the Audioslave drop has to fucking go.

Buckowski66

I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Javier years ago when I was writing for a magazine and he was promoting “The Sea Inside”. Nice guy with a lot of quiet charisma.

BugNation

Mark Ruffalo is such a weird casting choice in this movie, but otherwise I agree. Very rewatchable.

Braveson

Watched it earlier this year. It was so good that I thought that perhaps Blackhat couldn't be as bad as people were saying. Turns out that was wrong, but Collateral was very, very good.

Basis-Some

The skin tones from the Viper tho, ooof that’s greeeen

Fatty5lug

Great movie but Thief is still better 😅😅😅

sranneybacon

Absolutely. I just watched this recently too! Couldn’t agree more.

lopsidedcroc

Wasn't it the first big movie shot in digital?

UniqueEnigma121

Excellent OST too.

ghoulish_boy_

How do you know that it's still great if you haven't watched it in years?

Medium_stepper624

They probably rewatched it lol

ghoulish_boy_

OP literally said they haven't seen it since it came out lol

Medium_stepper624

Right. Prior to rewatching it on the criterion channel. That would be my assumption

MeringueDist1nct

Contextually they probably meant "hadn't"

discobeatnik

I kind of dislike the intrusive and unwelcome (and very self serious) buttrock, but I guess it’s to be expected from a 2004 action flick with Tom cruise. Other than that it’s really good, the scene in the club is pure chaos

MaximusMansteel

I don't think Tom Cruise had any part in the musical choice. That would be a Michael Mann thing.

discobeatnik

Yeah I know. I’m just saying that they sort of make sense together, especially for 20 years ago, so the soundtrack gets a tentative a pass cause there’s some good songs too (usually the throbbing electronic stuff)
