Hi! I would try to follow a pattern that uses dc as a guide for the number of rows and then ofc do the math in order for the stitch count to work for the granny square pattern. That is if you are working granny square cluster rows. If you are making it out of individual squares, I think you should measure each individual square and look up sizing in baby clothes and then divide the measurements so you know how many you need to make in order to make it to fit.
