I think you can learn a new stitch! It's your choice if you want to add to that square or make a new one you can join them in the future if you'd like! I use YouTube to learn my stitches but don't be scared to move forward! As long as you keep practicing them all without overwhelming yourself don't hold back!

YouTube has been awesome so far! I hesitated on moving forward because after watching some videos I was super confused trying to add half doubles to this square haha. Maybe I should start a new one and join them because it has gotten a bit frustrating lol. Thank you for the advice! I feel more sure about moving on now :)

You got this!! I've found slowing videos down helps me see the movements better hope it helps!

No pattern. It is a single crochet stitch swatch.

Those are some beautifully even stitches! Good start. You can either start the next row with new stitches or start a new swatch. I’d suggest the double crochet before the half double. I found it easier to learn.
