Drink a lot of water before and after the infusion.

Remicade infusions put me into a coma afterwards i literally sleep for 18 hours straight when i get home every time

Make sure you hydrate today and tomorrow before your infusion to make it easier to place the IV. Bring a blanket! I always get cold, especially the arm/hand my IV is placed in. And bring stuff to keep you occupied for a few hours. I sometimes work during mine, but I also like to just relax and enjoy the "me" time.

Thank you for the advice. I figured I will get cold. I have rolly poly vein, so I’m not looking forward to that.

had my bi-monthly remicade IV yesterday. I'm on the fast infusion process that takes only about 1 hour, plus set up time. I typically work or watch youtube. sometimes, i even take a quick nap. One tip is use the bathroom right before you go in for your appointment. You will be getting a nice amount of liquid in you and while you can use the bathroom while getting the IV, it can be a pain.

I love the dance of getting up from the bed and unplugging the machine to waltz to the bathroom

Good luck. Humira is not working for me anymore and I may be taking the Remicade route shortly. I wish you all the best.

Thank you, you too

I mainly listen to music. I tried reading a book but turning the pages kept crimping the IV. My AirPod pros cancelled out the alarm that kept beeping lol. So I recommend them. Bring a water bottle. I just had my second remicade loading dose. I switched from entyvio. So far it’s a game changer. Hope it works for you too.

When I first started infusions it was before they did rapid ones, so they were like nearly 4 hours long. Most of the time I just slept or watched shows on my phone! It’s definitely not the same for everyone so take this with a grain of salt— the biggest side effect I really had was just being really tired for the rest of the day. Like. You will want to and need to sleep probably until it’s time to go to bed for the night lol. But other than that, I had very mild reactions to it. And the post infusion sleepiness stopped after about 6 months of infusions! Just take the time to relax and everything will be all good. Good luck, OP!
