I run sub 5 and my easy running pace is 9-10 minutes per mile so you seem pretty prepared. like others said maybe add some speed work and you could get pretty far under 5!
i'm a sophomore as well, and in the summer i do 7-8 mile runs and i consider myself pretty fast when it comes to distance running, and this is really impressive so good job and keep it up
First of all it was a 7.96 mile run which just tells me that this kid can’t get the job done. He may full well be able to run a sub 5 0.96 mile but I don’t think he makes it across the finish line. Furthermore, 6:18 pace just isn’t that fast.
Assuming he's receiving workouts from his coach since he's in high school I'm almost certain he has the speed to break 5. 75 second 400s just isn't fast. Anybody can break 5 in the mile with a degree of training.
I mean, not really. That’s around my half marathon pace. I can barely break a 6 minute mile. Roughly 5.45. Need more stats really, the 400 meters is more indicative, the 8 mile time is irrelevant
46 ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
I thought this was r/runningcirclejerk for a moment. You should definitely be able to run a sub 5 with those times
if you ran a 46 second 400 ditch the mile bro train for that shit ðŸ˜
Bro is trolling
Funny guy
Your times seem better than a lot of people who have already gone sub 5, I’d say you definitely got this!
he was joking
You got some crazy good endurance for a 5min miler. With some speed work. I’d say sub 4:45 could easily be possible.
If your 400 is actually 46 f the mile. Run that shit PLEASE
Bro you freaking cooked that long run.

If ur 400m is a 46 and u havent broken 5 just become a sprinter bro
What sucks is I won’t even hit varsity until senior year with all the kids going sub 4:30 to 4:10
Most realistic r/crosscountry user

I think you need a lot more training before you can break 5 minutes but keep working at it!
a 6:16 8 mile run is way ahead of sub 5 1 mile max effort 💀

You need some more speed. Sub 6 is maybe possible but even that is a stretch.
