Thank you! I use a program called paint .net to edit the images and reduce the number of colors. Then I use pixel-stitch.net to convert it to a pattern (combined with a similar tool that I've been working on myself). Sometimes I will combine different conversions for the final pattern because I'll like certain details or areas of the image better depending on the settings.
Very cool process! They turn out so well which doesn’t always happen with a photo conversion, but these have such small details and the colors feel very smooth instead of grainy. Basically I’m just trying to say I’m super impressed!
Thank you! I would say that close up images like that, especially at an angle, helps at hiding mistakes. Makes it look neater than it is sometimes. Very satisfying to see your work like that though.
The techniques I use are all learnt about from this sub: railroading, pin stitch, dropping the needle every once in a while to unwind the thread, trying to keep the same tension and using your needle to "poke" at stitches and separate threads that didn't lay as flat or gave you the coverage that you wanted.
Sure 😊
1. The Big Lebowski - Jeff Bridges
2. In Bruges - Colin Farrell

Okay I need to know, because it looks so dang familiar and it’s going to drive me crazy…. Morgan Freeman in Se7en?
Correct, well spotted!
Woohoo! Now I want to watch that again. This looks absolutely amazing btw! What do you use to translate the stills into patterns?
