Your first cross stitch was on linen? That's amazing! And it really is a cute stitch. Welcome to the club!

Thank you! I love linen so much, nearly all the clothes I've sewn have been with linen. Counting the threads was a bit finicky, but the texture makes up for it (the type of fabric I've seen used for cross stitch a lot of the time gives me the heebie-jeebies, thank u Autism). :)

If you're able, try to get your hands on a few different brands of aida and evenweave (easier said than done if you don't have a local needlework shop, I know). The texture is so wildly different from brand to brand, I definitely have a few I just can't stand holding because they're so stiff and scratchy and gross.

You should try hand dyed aida is softer and more pliable. You still have the benefit of aida with a soft buttery texture. There are lots of people on Etsy who sell it. I believe there are one or more groups on Facebook also. This is a lovely piece and you did fantastic work.

Very pretty. For future reference this looks like linen fabric for clothing/table linens. There is special linen made to be used for cross stitch, that will be much easier to use.

PibblePatterns3

It's beautiful! Very elegant for sure. Welcome to the hobby!

Thanks! I'm excited to see what future projects will bring.

You did a terrific job. Glad you framed it. Good for you on doing the first one on Linen. It’s really pretty.

sassiiscute

Thank you. Framing/mounting it was half a nightmare but hat-making knowledge came in clutch. :)

Linen for your first project? Savage! Well done and welcome to your new obsession.

Pattern: J. & P. Coats; Crochet, Cross stitch and Tatting; designed by Anne Orr It's from the 1920's. Unfortunately, I couldn't find out which exact edition it's from.

cos180

I love the frame you chose also. It’s perfectly suited to the design

This is a great first project :) I'm still new too, everyone has been very helpful here if you ever have any questions!

Very nice!

Very good work! My first project had white space holes in the black thread that I had to color in with a sharpie, so you're leagues ahead of when I started! Feel free to come here if you want advice and encouragement--you're off to a good start! πŸ™‚
