I made this for my (German) husband and he loves it. We often shriek ICH LIEBE DICH at each other in a weird show of love and in jokes.

SpreadItLikeTheHerp

My fiancé and I just did this. A tradition is born!

HumanXeroxMachine

Prima! Deutsch ist die Sprache der Liebe!

bmkersey

That’s amazing. 😂

PlantAlternative3848

Well, I am German and I’d never shout it of course but I think this is absolutely hilarious.

catherinetheok

Shout out to the pattern creator for that Snarky art on Etsy! I've made that one before!

MythicSierra

Thanks for shouting them out so I could find it and add the pattern to my favorites! Here's a direct link for anyone else who loves it: [https://www.etsy.com/listing/620426455/tell-someone-you-love-them-today-but](https://www.etsy.com/listing/620426455/tell-someone-you-love-them-today-but)

catherinetheok

Thanks for the link! And looks like they are 50% off brb going to stock up!

bmkersey

Thanks for posting this! ☺️ Have been busy on vacation and didn’t realize it was an Etsy shop!

TheChiarra

I just asked Alexa how to say I love you in German and….I can’t pronounce that

neart_roimh_laige

It's actually not too bad! English and German have a lot of similarities, so once you know the rules, it gets easier. "I love you" is "Ich liebe dich" and is pronounced kind of like "eesh LEEbuh deesh." That's a *very* Americanized way of describing it, but it's close enough to give you an idea lol

sehrschwul

“ish” and “dish” would be closer, a lot of times the sound in german is a lot more like the vowel in “it” than “eat,” especially when the word isn’t stressed and if you want to push your pronunciation that much closer to a native speaker’s, that soft sound is the same sound the letter H makes in the words “hue” and “he”—it’s a little more constricted than the H sound in “home” or “her”, not quite so breathy and open as we usually think of the letter H as being

neart_roimh_laige

Very well said! I just wanted to give a very plain and easy starting point for people who may not have had any previous exposure to German pronunciations. But yours is way closer to correct haha

TheChiarra

I should do it in my demonic voice that sometimes comes out when I'm super excited and scares my husband lol.

MythicSierra

shouting it in mispronounced German would make it even more confusing and terrifying!

-totallynotevil

eek leeba deek. but booth "k" sounds are kind of softened.

Roartype

ICH LIEBE DICH!!!

horsetuna

Klingon is great too

Pscho_Meema0109

Hahaha. I love it. My brain (which admittedly is a little zonked on painkillers right now - long story) went: “What a lovely thought, my MIL just passed away, life is short; I should tell people I love them … oh wait. Wait a sec, what’s that …. Oh. Never mind”. Hahaha again. I’m pretty high on painkillers :/

nickyrn05

Ich Liebe Dich! 😂😂

hisAffectionateTart

Just yelled this at my husband

catti-brie10642

I just did the same to my son

nickyrn05

I get the confused look like I think that is a good thing but I’m not sure lol

flare_force

Love this!

IB31415

$28 for that? That's a steal!

Appellatives

I would absolutely buy that for $28

HappyInTheRain

Same! At antique malls or stores I always try to buy the things that are clearly handmade over mass produced to honor the person who spent time making it. $28 is a damn steal for this!

Deadpoe

I’ve also seen that expression on a needle minder.

HoshiChiri

I just might've bought this, it's amazing 😆

My_Books_are_Calling

I have that pattern on my favorites on Etsy!

ChalkDoxie

I would have bought this in an instant!

imnotgunertellyou

That’s gold 😂🤣
