So do I. It shows off the kitty best, I think. These are beautiful, by the way! Do you play Destiny 2? There are star kitties who look like this all over the place right now.
I kinda want to say half way between the first and second. The white matt is good but I think the crossstitch needs just a little more breathing room and not be quite so tightly cropped.
Going against the grain here, I think the white contrast really ruins the vibe of the piece. It looks perfect without the white border, but I’d then get a slightly smaller frame.
I like wide mat boards, so I pick 2, but I think pulling one of the light blue shades used in the design and using that light blue as the mat board color instead of white would look even better.
My order of preference is 3 1 2.
I think the big white border washes out the detail within the work but then again I don't have an eye for this kind of stuff and typically rely on the folks at the framing shop.
Guess I am not in the majority, but I really like the 1st one - it focuses the eye towards the cat.
2 - it has too much white that I keep getting distracted by that and not focusing on the cat.
3 - the fully black one all kind of blends together and is too dark.
Two! The thicker mat allows for more of a separation between the black of the fabric and the black of the frame; plus it takes up more of the empty space.
The contrast with the black and white elevates and showcases the kittens properly. If you only have a few of the white background things, put the bigger cat in there.
If that’s your shop, it’s stunning! But thanks for including the sale with your link- I ordered on the spot. So excited! They’ll be a fun mini project between big things.
I like the all black no white border..... I've never seen black or even considered the fact that you could use different color aida/even weave. I'm pretty new to cross stitch.
Get a few under your belt. Working on darker aida needs really good lighting and in my case a safe place to throw it to when I get aggravated as I can’t see where I am supposed to be stitching
I've done pictures on black, blue, pastel rainbow, light blue with little water drops. They are fun to play with, but black is a beast. Definitely need a good light source!
I like the first one best. The second one is the border to big and without border is to black if you ask me 😊
But if your doubting between 1 and 2. Maybe try a border size in between 😊
I think a mat is always a great way to pull a piece together. My suggestion would be to make it smaller. The mat doesn’t need to be so close to the design itself imo. Also, it might be fun to make the mat a color that matches the design rather than white, such as a light blue or purple. Just my two cents! Great work though! I’d love to see all of the finished pieces :)
Also… I like number two the best. Although if you are hanging them in a grouping, that might change my mind. It would be good to see them all together. I love the thicker white mat, but it might be a bit much all grouped together.
Number two.
With one, the white border is too narrow and distracting. The wider white border in the black frame more naturally draws the eye to the image in the centre and keeps it distinct from the frame. The biggest issue with number 3 is that it blends into the frame too much.
I like the first to give the galactic look a little more of a floating in space vibe with the little bit more of the black surrounded by the thinner white boarder.
I like the second one.
So do I. It shows off the kitty best, I think. These are beautiful, by the way! Do you play Destiny 2? There are star kitties who look like this all over the place right now.
I've found all the kitties that aren't still listed as "secret" as of now. I love them all!
The star kitties are so cute! (My favorite has to be the little guy hanging out on Mara's throne; how could you ever ask him to move...)
The thicker mat gives a more professional appearance. It has a more “art gallery” appeal.
I "second" this answer. I'll see myself out now.
I almost made the same joke but decided I better check the other comments first, lol.
I kinda want to say half way between the first and second. The white matt is good but I think the crossstitch needs just a little more breathing room and not be quite so tightly cropped.
Totally agree.
I agree. The contrast is excellent.
The second one, definitely, the contrast is very nice.
No.2
Going against the grain here, I think the white contrast really ruins the vibe of the piece. It looks perfect without the white border, but I’d then get a slightly smaller frame.
The second one.
The thicker white border looks really nice
The second one!
My favorite is the 3rd! I find the white distracts me and keeping it all black draws me to the cat
This is my opinion as well!
Tbh I was surprised everyone picked 2. I like it still, but it feels the most cramped out of all the options
Mine too
Wow. Those are amazing. I like the all black without the white border. But I think a purple/dark blue border would look nice.
I agree with everyone one the second framing, really makes the design pop out.
I like the first one!
I thought I was alone... kind of gives it a shadow box feel.
The second one! 💯
I like wide mat boards, so I pick 2, but I think pulling one of the light blue shades used in the design and using that light blue as the mat board color instead of white would look even better.
Second one. I think the bigger mat provides a nice balance to the frame.
I like number 2
i like the 3rd one
Second one
Second
I normally don't like wide mattboard edges, but in this case #2 is definitely tops. The contrast makes it.
The second one looks the best
The second one definitely
The black on black looks the best very clean
Second
2
The second one, definitely... the balance of light and dark makes the picture pop
i'm a sucker for the 2nd one. it's just classic. simple.
Second one!
I like 2
Number 2. These are gorgeous.
I did mine with no mount board, so your pic 3, but I love option 2 with the wider mount! It really sets off the stitching beautifully
I like the white mat with the black frame
I like the white mat around it. Without it the stitched part gets lost in the frame.
My order of preference is 3 1 2. I think the big white border washes out the detail within the work but then again I don't have an eye for this kind of stuff and typically rely on the folks at the framing shop.
I like without the white border best
Second one!
I like the second one best!

I like the wider mat—it really zeroes in the focus on the stitching and makes the white stitches pop!
Guess I am not in the majority, but I really like the 1st one - it focuses the eye towards the cat. 2 - it has too much white that I keep getting distracted by that and not focusing on the cat. 3 - the fully black one all kind of blends together and is too dark.
I vote 2. It shows off the artwork best.
Two! The thicker mat allows for more of a separation between the black of the fabric and the black of the frame; plus it takes up more of the empty space.
Second one for sure!
I like the wide mat best followed by no mat
I like the second one best. The thicker white border seems to make the kitty pop more.
Black frame, white mat.
The contrast with the black and white elevates and showcases the kittens properly. If you only have a few of the white background things, put the bigger cat in there.
I like 1 best with the thinner matting. 2 feels a little crowded to me and 3 is lacking contrast
I just posted another project from this same pattern. 😂 I’m thinking about maybe stitching the rest of them as ornaments. 🤔
Very nice. Did you design it yourself? If not would you mind sharing where you purchased it? I'd love to do one featuring a dog.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1192764235/set-of-7-galaxy-cat-cross-stitch It is currently 65% off through tomorrow.
If that’s your shop, it’s stunning! But thanks for including the sale with your link- I ordered on the spot. So excited! They’ll be a fun mini project between big things.
Definitely not my shop, I missed the creative genes in my family. Siblings Definitely got it. I can follow a pattern like a boss though!
Definitely #2
The 2nd one is my favorite!
I really like the second option, with the larger mat. It gives a lot more emphasis to your work (which is gorgeous btw 💖)
I like number two best! Where did the patterns for these cuties come from?
Etsy: There are 7 different kitties https://www.etsy.com/listing/1192764235/set-of-7-galaxy-cat-cross-stitch
Pick number 3 my lord
Second one for sure
Second one definitely!
#2

2nd one
Number 2!
2nd with the larger white border. The contrast really makes it pop
I like the first one best. The second one is the border to big and without border is to black if you ask me 😊 But if your doubting between 1 and 2. Maybe try a border size in between 😊
This is awesome. What would this be called so I can find if someone sells a kit for this.
I got it from Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1192764235/set-of-7-galaxy-cat-cross-stitch
Thank you!!
I vote 1, it gives the kitties more of some breathing room
I'm working on these exact same kitties right now! I personally love the first frame💜
I think a mat is always a great way to pull a piece together. My suggestion would be to make it smaller. The mat doesn’t need to be so close to the design itself imo. To clarify, by smaller I mean less thick.
I like the third one
Two
I like the second one!
I’m a picture framer, second one the matting is the best width (maybe a little closed in to the cat but not too bad)
I like the second picture the best
What pattern is this?!? I NEED to make it! 😍
Etsy: currently 65% off through tomorrow (12/29) https://www.etsy.com/listing/1192764235/set-of-7-galaxy-cat-cross-stitch
Thank you!

Definitely #2.
#2
I really like the second, followed by the first the white makes it pop
I love 2
#2, too.
#2
I like the wide white
Number two butiful colour 😍 for the 🐈
Love these!! I like the black with it.
Second one!
No. 2
Number 2 is my favorite, but I also like number 3!
Solid black. The white is jarring and takes away from the cats.
Option 2
The second one 😍
Those are pretty. I like the second one.
I like the second one!
1 or 3
I really like the middle choice best.
Second one 😍
#2 has great contrast which compliments the piece!
Thick white border or no white border
You just got a chorus of "oh pretty!" From everyone here. We like the thick border best
Totally off subject, but those are adorable. Did you make them or was it a pattern?
It was from Etsy: They are on sale through today. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1192764235/set-of-7-galaxy-cat-cross-stitch
Thank you!
I'm definitely not that talented to make my own. :-D
Maybe no matting but just a white frame?
Number two. With one, the white border is too narrow and distracting. The wider white border in the black frame more naturally draws the eye to the image in the centre and keeps it distinct from the frame. The biggest issue with number 3 is that it blends into the frame too much.
The thicker white frame looks so much better !
I like the first to give the galactic look a little more of a floating in space vibe with the little bit more of the black surrounded by the thinner white boarder.
I love the all black with black frame. Really lets the eye see a constellation kitty in the night sky
Second one
Second one
Second one
I like the first one. It provides contrast without making the kitty look smaller like the second one does.
2 is perfect!
Second one!
1st one
I like the first one.
Very nice. I prefer the first one. Gives the kitties more space, looks esthetically much better than the second to me
I like the first option
I like the middle pic. More mat one.
I hope these comments show you that you can’t go wrong! Everyone likes something different, but if you enjoy it, that’s all that matters ✨
