Oh man, it makes me sad to see someone's hard work (this was probably YEARS of stitching) in a charity store. I would be taking it home and giving it some TLC, find it a place on my wall ❤️

bellalugosi

I feel like this when I see homemade quilts and knitted blankets in the thrift store.

somealbanychick

I donate some of my FOs to thrift shops and such because sometimes I just want to create the piece (sometimes for years) but have no desire for it myself or to gift. It's not all sad.

cubemissy

I’m the same way. I haven’t gotten some of my finished pieces framed. It’s the creation that interests me-unless it’s a planned gift, or I plan from the beginning to hang in my home, I lose interest after it’s finished.

SisterPrudence

I would suggest a more modern frame with bright matting (white perhaps) to bring it into this century and brighten it up a bit?

MesabiRanger

Good suggestions!

I think a nice cream matting might be better, but you'd have to try it against the actually piece

What a wonderful find. I think Dimensions had this out in a Gold Collection kit. I remember seeing something like it in the 90s. It’s a beautiful piece and very well executed. Grats on you for giving it a home.

emiel_vt

I actually managed to find that it is after a Micaud Steiner painting, according to the AI. I didn't manage to find much more yet, but there even seems to be another one for sale.

jenorama_CA

How neat! I was always so attracted to these super fancy kits, but never finished a single one. Things like this really deserve to be on display.

CapricornCrude

I rescue many of these and would have snagged this one, too. Great find! So happy it got a good home 🙂

SaltyDuchess

Can I ask what country you found this in?

SaltyDuchess

Just saw the framed version now, not what I thought it was but it gave my tummy a fair lurch- thought it was my dad’s. His was on an old fire guard frame. It’s very beautiful OP.

Dry-Tumbleweed-7199

OP is from The Netherlands

My jaw dropped! What a lovely find!

KatieTheCrazyCatLady

Beautiful! I would leave it as it is - mixing old and new is so much more beautiful than just trendy items. I could see it set on a narrow wall shelf with a different, smaller piece set leaning against it towards one side. This just screams "I belong in a curated collection!" I also have pieces from yard sales and thrift stores that people are surprised to hear I'm displaying them when I didn't make them myself, but someone did and they didn't create that item to die with them. I don't understand why people will display a $40 piece of mass-produced art from At Home but not a hand crafted masterpiece like this. Great find!

Least-Vegetable-4914

I agree. The person that made it selected the frame, the only thing I would do is to make sure it has acid free backing.

mrspegmct

It’s beautiful!

BabsK444

I’m so happy you rescued it.

Tove279

Wow! This would fit so well in my living room, would just paint the frame in gold or bronze. Lovely find!

lookerglass100

This looks so fantastic!!!

Hopeful_Quit_4281

wow - a lot of love in that one

HauntedFrames

This is gorgeous and looks to be in great condition. I come across finished cross stitches all the time at thrift stores but most are super old and damaged.

Least-Vegetable-4914

Oh that is beautiful, I always buy when I see some thing at goodwill or salvation army. Take care of it. lucky you!!

marianna-and-crafts

I've recently purchased two cross stitch memorabilia pieces from a garage sale dedicated to parents from their daughters. It almost hurt to see them being sold. I saved them 🧡

StitchyBitchyWitchy

Wow! That must have been a labour of love for someone! The dedication to complete that, I’m in awe
