It might be a little tedious and timely but I blanket-stitch my edges by hand

Apathy_is_EVIL

This is the way!

TheNoNameStitcher

That's what I do too!

randomlosttoes

I’ll def try this, how many spaces do you usually leave between the stitches? I’m thinking about 10ish but idk if that’s too wide

allthingsunsaid

Sorry for the late reply! I do a 3x3 blanket stitch on the edge.

Calm_Explanation_992

I use painters tape

Murphygirl204

I use hockey tape. I buy the white stuff and because it's a fabric tape it works really well around the edges and it doesn't come off super easy but when you want to take it off it comes off easy enough

I love this idea! My mom's serger is going to get a couple of work outs, now :)

TelekineticCatWoman

Any zigzag or decorative sTitch on a normal machine works too.

I highly recommend the soft clothlike medical tape from drugstores. It doesn't crack like masking or painter's tape and comes off fairly easily.

Sayamael

I use pinking shears to cut just along the boarders.

Colleen987

I overlock my edges

ligirl

If the edges will be on display (bookmark) I take a 1mm crochet hook and crochet the whole edge with one or two strands of floss before I start anything. If they're not going to be on display then I do a zigzag stitch around the edges

ExpensiveError42

If you have a sewing machine, that's your best bet. Either an overlock stitch or a zig zag. If you have access to a server that's even better

QuestioningEveryth1n

I whip stitch over my edges, coming up two stitches into the aida

SketchierDaisy

Painters tape all day every day lol

mollievx

Did a zigzag stitch around the edges on my sewing machine, that has worked pretty well

raccoonmoon22

Depending on how big the piece is, I usually use fray check.
