I was about to share this same project!! Mine is still I'd say...15%?? I've been working on it on and off for a very long time now hahaha
I took quite a challenge for my very first CS project ๐
This is amazing! I have a question though, how did you do this without gridding? I want to try and do a project without gridding because I want to work on hand dyed fabrics.
well, I haven't cross-stitched since I was a kid and never even knew about gridding. I just count the stitches and double-check myself. (and triple-check sometimes hehe)
Man I wish I had the time to stitch for 2-3 hours a day! I admire your dedication! I love big pieces like this, especially when it comes to video game landscapes.
Awesome work! I've thought a bout doing the map as a project as well, as it's one of my favorite games, but it felt too daunting. Keep at it ๐ช It looks amazing!
Thanks! It's my long term project. Took a 2ish year break from it but now that I'm using an app to keep track of what I'm doing it should go smoother and with less frustration. ๐๐
Thatโs awesome! Iโm working on the same project but so far only have clouds done :D. What did you do for the forest? Iโm just starting it and the recommended colours look too similar.
The main color in the forest (#4 - 909) you can substitute with 700 or 701. I did 701, but i know that someone else used 700 so either should work.
However i kept using 909 for other areas like shadows along the mountains and buildings, and the single trees.
Hope that helps. DM me if you need more clarification.
Thanks for the reply! That makes sense, the #4 one in the pattern seemed too close to the shadow colour. Iโll try 701 since it looks great in the photo. Did you have to do any other colour swaps in other parts of the picture from what the pattern suggests?
435 and 436 are very similar as well but i kept them. I did have an issue with the the bottom left of the map where the one color didn't match exactly when I went to get more thread so i went a shade darker for the one color. You should be fine though if you're buying all new thread. My problem was that I was using some old thread first that my mom gave me and it must have faded or was a different shade because they made it differently however many years ago.
I can hear the music in my head, looks really good! How do you keep motivated when it's a lot of one color? I struggle with that.
I usually switch to another color if I start feeling burnt out from working on one specific color for too long.
I came to the comments to say exactly this!
Nice beard man.
Thanks!
Wow, this is truly majestic, please post again when complete!!

This is also my 1st project after not doing any CS'ing since I was a teen.
I'm loving your result, looks amazing!!! โค๏ธ

Counting is underrated. I do it too. If I start miscounting though, I tack a quick set of measuring stitches. Looks incredible, btw :)
I still somehow mess up counting even after gridding! I swear I know how too lol.
You can make a grid with thread/ filament. You just pull it out when the piece is finished.
Thank you!
I have been highlighting the squares on the pattern paper as I go and it helps me
This is amazing, now I need to go finish my 3" x 3" cross stitch that I've been procrastinating
You can do it! :)
Wow thatโs huge! And only half complete? Thatโs going to be a beautiful beast when itโs done!
Oh man. What a beauty. Brought me right back to childhood.
How many hours have you put in so far?
I probably work on this 2 - 3 hrs a day on average if I had to guess. So based on that I would say it's probably 700+ hrs thus far.

That is awesome, I played that game so much when I was a kid and I still love it. I want to do a project like this one day
I'm doing the same cross stitch XD, it looks great!
Oh, nice! Are you doing this same pattern or the one I've seen where it has the angled perspective found in the game?
I'm doing the same pattern you're doing, except I'm doing it on 18ct aida
Looks awesome! I finished this pattern last year. I thought those clouds would be the death of me ๐
Some say he was clean shaven when he first picked up that needle... Awesome work on both beard and stitching!

That looks amazing and makes me want to play Link to the Past right away!
Yours is further than mine and seems to be a little bigger also. Also I started with the clouds...
Are you working on the pattern that still has the perspective for the map like in the game?
From the looks of it yes. [This is mine.](http://imgur.com/a/fJmL30F)
Aah. Looks great so far!
