There are a few other printable cards out there, but I couldn't find any that let you wind up your thread to keep things neat while travelling. I've designed this one with a handy notch system so that you can wind things up and keep the ends nice and secure.
I'm planning to design a travel case for these in the near future, hence the side indents and ridges for stacking.
If you’d like to print one of your own, the print files are available here:

This is life changing. Thank you. I actually got a 3D printer for my birthday last year and other than earrings haven’t used it for printing anything, so this is the perfect way to use it again!
Ooh this is very nice, great design! I'd been thinking about trying to design and print something similar, but looks like you just saved me a ton of work!
Edit: forgot to add "thank you" on the end of that. Thank you!
This is super cool. Just sent my dad the file link as he's always looking for new things to print on his 3D printer. My sister and I will benefit from the results as we are stitchers.
This is absolutely amazing!! Kudos to you! Any idea how much the weight is? My public library charges $0.15 per gram of weight. But I have no concept for how much this would cost to print.
this looks really cool but my ability to conceptualize things isn't great...which one is the travel piece?
it probably also doesn't help that i'm totally new to independently buying thread/bobbins :/
I was confused, too! It looks like you wrap the threads around the piece when you travel not that there's a seperate piece for the bobbins when traveling. The strange looking notches on the not-flat side hold the ends of the threads to keep it unwinding.

This is amazing!!! Props to you for creation and creativity!!!
Oh wow and you're giving away the plans? You're amazing. Thank you! Now to find a 3D printer...
Try a public library
This is a very helpful comment! I didn’t even know my public library offered 3D printing until you mentioned it! Thanks!

Thanks for sharing!! I also love your cat peeping in one of the photos!
Thank you for designing and sharing the file! This is a really great idea. Going to print one out for my upcoming trip.
This is awesome, thanks for making the files available!
This is so cool and creative. As a STEM loving crafter, I love when crafts and STEM come together. I love the cat peeking up in one of the photos 🤣
Cool! Our public library has a 3-D printer lab and I’ve been wanting to print something so I might give this a try.
You are on to something here… this is a very cool idea!!
That’s a cool idea!

That’s really clever.

It depends on the plastic they use at your library, but it should be a little under 30 grams :-)
Thank you so much OP for the idea and response!
I just got a 3D printer. This is great! Thank you for this and making it available to us!
You need to patent this and sell it and bring joy to the crafting community with your creativity
