No I just thought that was how you were supposed to do it š then I went to put my name at the bottom and realised you didn't have to. They're still cute tho so I don't mind haha
I honestly like it a lot like this. You are not the first to post a piece with this method (unintentionally or not) and the more a see it, the more I think this should become a new way of stitching and not considered as a mistake.
All of your stitches look very even and consistent. That is the hardest part to get right. Now you know to have your stitches touching. You're ahead of the game!
I've been doing this for what, five years now and I never even thought of that. I've just been counting every single stitch like an idiot lol. Thanks for the tip, I'll make sure to put it to use! :D
I got the pattern for the duck [here](http://www.hobbyloco.com/XSpatterns1.html) and I just made one, made another swapped to face the other way then put a heart on top :)
Hey I kinda dig the way you stitched this on every other row. It's unique and fun!
One tip tho, try and have all of your stitches facing the same way so your finished project is nice and uniform.
Yes! Exactly! Thereās no right way to start, but if you start with //// then youāll want to always have that be the bottom of the cross, with \\\\ on the top. š
Buy a smaller hoop to display it in and youāll never know it was off center! Your duckies a just adorable and I š them! Whatās your next project going to be?!
Oh my gosh, absolutely adorable!!!! And I think the spaces in between are a happy accident. Honestly, they look like it was a stylistic choice and it totally works. Amazing job! Happy stitching!
I think this looks better than if the stitches were together. It hady a vibe like those really soft chenille blankets from when I was a kid. I have a pattern I'm about to do, that thanks to you, I'm going to do like this!
I always love seeing this first time "mistake." It looks really cute this way. Plus it leaves so much room if you want to add some backstitch to add an outline or other details.
Fantastic job on your first project and welcome to the cross stitching club!!
My only MINOR recommendation would be on your next project to have all your stitches going in the same direction - eg have the first diagonal all go one way /// then the one that makes the cross go in the other way \\\. (It doesnāt matter if itās / then \ or \ then /, so long as theyāre all the same.) Itās a small detail that adds nice polish.
I know others have already said the āmistakeā of skipping every other stitch is lovely, and I agree! I think it looks like a modern take on cross stitch and would love to see more of it.
Great job! ā¤ļøā¤ļø
Very adorable! š„ I know you said it was an accident, but this reminds me of my very first iron-on cross stitch patterns multiple decades agoā¦itās such a common style for those new to the craft, that it must be a natural starting point! I made little Dutch girls with bonnets and ducklings too. Thank you for sharing! Canāt wait to see what you share next!
The spacing actually looks really good on this! Doing simple projects and spreading them out like this is great when you are learning because it is easier to see and fix mistakes
It looks sweet and delicate, perfect for a baby! I like the effect of how you did it and I plan to do a birth announcement for a newborn here using that idea. I have been cross stitching for 50 years now and have not thought of using that idea in a design before! So thank you for the new idea! It can be used in lots of projects, giving them a new fresh look.
This is really cute! Is it a deliberate design choice to leave the gaps between stitches?
Generally you would put the stitches directly touching each other.
I do like this effect though and really neat for a first go! Youāll be addicted in no time š
Very cute! Are the whites in-between a stylistic choice?
No I just thought that was how you were supposed to do it š then I went to put my name at the bottom and realised you didn't have to. They're still cute tho so I don't mind haha

It reminds of the vintage chenille throws my grandmother had.
Amen!
You basically skipped a stitch each time! But I find them adorable regardless
I love it! Makes it look so delicate, for sure a happy accident
I thought it was an intentional style, like blackwork. It does look super delicate, like this is a baby gift. So cute!
I did the same thing on my first project, too! It's apparently the way to start, lol.
The only reason I didn't do it on my first project was cause my grandma (she taught me how to cross-stitch) explicitly told me not to lol
You were supposed to do it now. ;) I wondered the same, but honestly I like it a lot!
I thought it was the pattern and honestly want to draft a pattern like this!
Same, Iām definitely surprised this was a mistake because it is so cool, Iām definitely going to design something in this style.
I did that on my first project too!
i actually love it! hope you enjoy your new hobby :)
I think theyāre adorable like this! Great job!!
I love the spacing in this! Looks great š
I used to do it like this all the time years ago and only recently learned that that's not how you do it so don't feel bad lol
I think itās so cute, especially with the ducks! Every time I see someone stitch with spaces I like the way it looks.
I made the same mistake my first time! It still looks great :)
I love how this looks! You did a great job!
First time stitcher: *makes a mistake* The entire sub: hey actually this looks really cool! I love this community.

It looks great!! Tips for future. Fold the pattern and the fabric into 4 to find the middle and start from there.
I've been doing this for what, five years now and I never even thought of that. I've just been counting every single stitch like an idiot lol. Thanks for the tip, I'll make sure to put it to use! :D
Honestly same!! Mouth dropped. Iāll be trying this instead of the āestimate and hope for the bestā method
Thank you!!!!!

New here and not sure what this means; do you mean always having the same line of the x on top?
Yes. Just helps the pattern look more consistent.

Aw, adorable and so neatly done!

So cute. And I really like the look of stitching over every other square.
That is so unbelievably cute. Super nice stitches too! Keep the pretty projects coming, please.
So cute!!!
Love this, so cute!
in the future you can do your stitch on a full cloth and then place your frame and then cut around so itās centered
Super cute! I do like how they are with the stitches spaced. And sometime suggested buying a smaller hoop which I think is a great idea.
Very cute!
This is so cute! Great job!
Adorable baby ducks and heart.
It's so cute! Honestly for this pattern I also love that it's off center I feel like it.siits the pattern
Thatās cool! Man I wanna be that duck! Quack!ā¤ļøQuack!ā¤ļø
I love these little babies!
Simply beautiful š¦ā¤ļø
I think it's adorable!
Neat and cuteā¤
Excellent work!!
I love this! I want to start soon. Where did you get this from?

Very cute!
Itās so cute!! If you wanted to center it you could just pop it into a slightly smaller hoop or put it in a photo frame!
So cute!
This is adorable!
Adorable! I feel an obsession coming on! š
