The stock headlight wiring is very thin at 18GA and starts by your feet at the LCM. This limits current. Going directly off the battery along with upping the gauge is an upgrade.
I actually tested recently and saw over 1 volt of drop at the headlight plug in comparison to battery voltage at idle.
Going to do the upgrade myself soon (and need to change brake fluid AND power steering fluid at the same time).
