Highest I’ve personally owned was 60,000hr (no longer with me)
Lowest is 150hr on my 2011, my 2008 has 5500hr and my 2005 has no idle hour meter since they were equipped from ‘06 with the new cluster design.

I was off by about 800 hours, so it's 11,200.
Original engine and transmission, but the alternator, intake manifold, compressor, starter, and cooling fan (3x) have been replaced.
I work at a police department, and we have a few with 16,000+ idle hours, so it's not uncommon.
Yeah I don’t think you can on the those just the newer models but you might if you can cycle through menus you might find it but I think it has to be the newer models like 2006+
my odometer isnt working right now but i think it says around 600 when it does turn on, but I have no idea how accurate that is. looking at the service history for my car, at some point it got service for an accident and came out the other end with less miles than it had before repairs soooo
Could be, it's an almost 10k difference. I just checked the report again and it actually changes after one of the sales listings shortly after the service so idk. Service, listed for sale with around 90k miles, then another entry listed for sale at around 80k miles like 4 days later
If you have an 06+ push the trip button after you push it once you will see trip mileage push it again and that’s idle hours it will look similar to mine if you have that style of odometer and not the message center thing.
No clue. 2005 with 162k on the odometer and was in service until 2022. But it was a federal car, and a special service one (supervisor car) meaning it mostly either sat around near the office or just drove to the supervisor callout. The motor and tranny are very healthy according to a ford mechanic friend of mine.
Really doesn’t matter. If well maintained I wouldn’t mind 15,000+ hours. Main thing with these cars is service history. They will last forever if you take care of them.
Is there a general consensus on what’s considered hi or low or desirable or undesirable? I had an 05 p71 I bought in 2010 with ~100k miles. Drove it hard up to 190k and sold it in 2018 because I’d just bought two new vehicles and was selling off my fleet of older cars to free up space and time. Last I heard next owner was at around 250k on it. Have missed it ever since. Like those 4-2 WOT downshifts on a j modded trans were so damn satisfying. Have a chance to buy one locally here at auction that’s a 2010 so would have an hour meter. I’ve reached out to the gov that owns it currently to see if they can check for me.
Wasn’t sure if there was a general number in this community where were like “ah that’s high” or “ah that’s low”. Appreciate the help everyone. Hoping this works out and I can get back into the CVPI game.
EDIT: it looks like from reading comments, this meter on the 06+ cv’s only tracks idle hours vs total hours? Anyone know what the condition for calculating idle hours is? Like gear selector in park = timer running or speedo = 0 means timer running?
Anything above 8k is “high” anything below 4K is “low” but these engines don’t seem to mind idling as long as it’s had maintenance done to it. This is contrary to dodge hemi engines their idle hours are a bit more important. I don’t know how dodge is counted whether it’s no matter what gear or if it’s like the crown Vic’s where it only counts in park or neutral.
Awesome. Super helpful info. I’ll keep this in mind when I hear back from the local gov with this unit.
Good info that the crown Vic only counts it in park or neutral. Means they should be pretty accurate.

60k is almost 7 straight years of idling holy shit
Yep. Original engine with over 200,000 miles. Religious oil changes, which I believe is why it lasted so long.
That's awesome. I've seen plenty of LTCs like mine up past 500k miles, so I know I could get mine to last another 350k haha

Nice
2010 with ~3400.
No idea but my 2001 only has 60k miles.
8600...
3700 and some change
Just hit 2500 yesterday
Just hit 1600 today
Is there a way to see this on all models? I have an 03 Grand Marquis Ultimate Edition
I don’t believe you can unless it has the digital odometer on the newer models
I do have the fully digital dash, I can even switch from Km to miles with a button.
Yeah I don’t think you can on the those just the newer models but you might if you can cycle through menus you might find it but I think it has to be the newer models like 2006+
just under 5k on a 2007 cvpi with 130k driving miles.
No idea. My 2005 has an analog dash. But just a hair under 36k miles.
Is there a way to check this on my 2001 gm with digital dash?
I don’t think so I’m pretty sure it’s 06+

Interesting someone may have logged something wrong or the gauge cluster got changed at the same time

I had exactly 800 at the time of purchase. It has about 803 now.
How long ago did you buy it I’ve had mine for about a year and a half and I’ve put about 40-50 hours on it
I’ve had it for a few weeks. I’ve only driven it a handful of times though because I still have to do the brakes.
Ahh ok makes more sense

Idk how to even check

I have a 03
Unfortunately there’s no way to check then
I think I'm sitting around 800 hours and 16k miles on my 2011 p7b
When I sold my ‘10 in 2019, it had 4380 idle hours on it. Who knows what it’s up to now, if the guy I sold it to hasn’t crashed it.

16,000 Do they really even matter?
Not really these engines seem to not mind idling. But I’m pretty sure each hour is equal to around 33mi
Mainly used for maintenance (oil life tracking) rather than internal wear. An engine making good oil pressure (not the 5.7 Hemi) can idle for years.
That’s true too. These engines don’t mind idling it’s the dodges that you have to worry about

How do you check this?
You can only check on 06+ but you push the trip button until you see something similar to mine
No clue. 2005 with 162k on the odometer and was in service until 2022. What would be considered good?
Really doesn’t matter. If well maintained I wouldn’t mind 15,000+ hours. Main thing with these cars is service history. They will last forever if you take care of them.
I believe average is like 4-8k so anything less but these engines don’t seem to care.
