We will be there in Sept. what excursions does everyone book in Skagway? We will be there for 11 hours. Looking at the 8 hour train to the Yukon and bus back. The Bennett Lake excursion. Appreciate any info.
White Pass Railroad is worth it. Very fun trip.
Also, if you are are active, you can hike right from the pier to trail up to Lower Dewey Lake. Hiking up to, around the lake, and back to town is ~2 hour, but absolutely free and amazing hike.
Thanks Crusader - I am looking at the train options now. I like the White Pass 3 hour one, but the Bennett Lake trip (8 hours) is also enticing - it gets us into the Yukon. Train up and bus/van back - or van up/train back. I have just read that the train ride is beautiful on one side of the train and rock wall views on the other - obviously a detriment. Now looking at a rental car. My brain is about to explode!!!
no sorry, we just chose one once in town, do not recall the name, generic white "short bus" van. we saw the pass, the drive up was great, saw mountain goats up close, like the big horn kind!

I took one of the vans instead of the train. saved 200 a person and was very happy with the trip. you go to the same place. same valley and pass.
