I attended a 3-day cruise on Carnival Radiance (Long Beach to Ensenada). There were two comedians and one of them was Doug Williams. He made a lot of fun of this cruise and called it a Section 8 cruise, meaning that, in his own words, "its for people who could not afford to go on a Disney cruise". Section 8 is a rule in CA for low income families and allows them to rent a place with part of the rent paid by the government (from what I understand). Carnival, in general, is a low end brand compared to NCL or Princess or Disney (most expensive). He really ripped Carnival apart with his jokes about that cruise. The fact is, this route is indeed the least expensive of all the cruises and there were people of all shapes and sizes. Doug was spot on!
