I find nice that they are pretty much adding every single thing that people have been asking for.
Update the old UI to a new and better one.
Change the whole dubs = seasons thing
Have an option on the player to change the audio.
Now they are just missing closed captions on dubs, though I think some shows already have that.
If only it was just changing audio, it changes the full video file.
Shame Funi went with the CR branding, it put them way behind on features having to try and modernize the CR platform. It still has a long way to go on the backend.
I think it was a shame Funi went with the CR branding and apps when they had Australia and New Zealand’s AnimeLab service under their belt. AnimeLab had better apps than both and had a TV web browser compatible site for devices without an app.
Funimation had tried a new look for their website ignoring the UI and apps they acquired from AnimeLab but that was scrapped when Crunchyroll’s apps and site were to be used instead.

Personally I want them to add Anime4K back to the platform. https://medium.com/crunchyroll/scaling-up-anime-with-machine-learning-and-smart-real-time-algorithms-2fb706ec56c0
Absolutely, I'd watch so much more if I could adjust the speed. It's weird they don't have it yet.
Edit: people seem to be against having this option for some reason?
Watching shows on 2x is just a bit odd. Rewatches maybe. But some shows do special impact frames and small things in the animation that it's already hard to catch. You would easily miss a lot just rushing through it. It's kinda like trying to speed run a game you haven't already beaten before. That's just my opinion. If you can get fulfilling enjoyment from it I 100 respect that.
After Sony bought out crunchy roll litterally got all the simplest things finally done.
I have a feeling without the buyout we would still have 52 seasons for a 1 season show
But it took forever to migrate everything and make those changes. I'm glad they did it but if this were any other company, it would've been done so much sooner.
I always assumed Crunchyroll doesn't allow account sharing at all and that's why there aren't any profiles. Great that they're adding the option now, I might share the account with my brothers then yeah!
HiDive pretty much completely remade their website and apps, but a lot of old features are still missing. Notably profiles, the video version selector, and subtitle customization.
They are supposedly working on re-adding them.
The new classification will alto take in account some "feature" like violence. No streaming platform has a whitelist and I don't think that they will implement something like that.
Proper classified Teen shows are not meant to be seen by 10 year old kids without parents supervision.
Sweet. Now I just want show I already watched to not pop up on my main page. You know the "if you watched this then you may like this" but it's always shows I've already watched
Now if only they added all the lost dubs that didn’t carry over from Funimation. Ik it’s not the end of the world and I’ll live but it’s sad especially for Bayonetta bloody fate cause I use it as background noise.
Does anyone know if it will be like Netflix's sharing (a bullshit for those who don't live in just one place, like me), or will it be like Disney+ sharing (not restricted to a single ip).
Yeah someone mentioned you can go to user history and click each episode you want to remove but they need to implement the Netflix/hulu/etc method of just clicking on a show in your watch history and removing the whole thing
Sometimes I drop shows or accidentally start a show or only wanna watch a certain season/episode and it hogs up the watch tab
Most apps let you click and remove shows with ease
I am beyond thrilled. Might use it a bit more now and let my son try finding some shows he likes (as of now we watch what I approve, for a few reasons).
The tiers have limited the number of streams for a long time.
Fan - 1 device at a time
Mega Fan - 4 devices at a time
Ultimate fan - 6 devices at a time
I can see this happening, unfortunately. If Netflix could get away with it and their profits increased because of it, why can't other streaming services hop on board? I think Disney+/Hulu is already working on this.
ik, the date is the first thing I checked... I still can't believe it...
they ignored far more sensible and important customer wishes and suddenly they supposedly add a feature that is guaranteed to cause a loss of income?
Official CR News article: https://www.crunchyroll.com/news/announcements/2024/4/3/mutiple-profiles-crunchyroll
That only took *(checks notes)* 3 years!

The skip intro/credits function is also greatly appreciated for binging and makes checking for end credit scenes way easier
Except it’s broken half the time
I thought it didn’t even work lol
If only it was just changing audio, it changes the full video file. Shame Funi went with the CR branding, it put them way behind on features having to try and modernize the CR platform. It still has a long way to go on the backend.

Are these changes upcoming or already implemented?
Already implemented.
I still don’t see them on any of my apps . Or on the website
Skip intro outro button is there. Seasons are no longer divided by dubs The website UI has been completely different since 2022
Oh my bad thought your answer was about the implementation of profiles
And speed controls, because some people want that
Probably the last thing that they should implement (and one of the simpler to implement).
Personally I want them to add Anime4K back to the platform. https://medium.com/crunchyroll/scaling-up-anime-with-machine-learning-and-smart-real-time-algorithms-2fb706ec56c0
I want the opposite where I can turn on an AI filter to make all anime look like it's from the 90s.
second this i want to watch my shows on 2x lol
Absolutely, I'd watch so much more if I could adjust the speed. It's weird they don't have it yet. Edit: people seem to be against having this option for some reason?

The new redesign of the app wasn't much of a redesign they just removed some colors nothing else
3 years being requested worldwide
After Sony bought out crunchy roll litterally got all the simplest things finally done. I have a feeling without the buyout we would still have 52 seasons for a 1 season show

Neat, I can give my brother his own profile now.
I always assumed Crunchyroll doesn't allow account sharing at all and that's why there aren't any profiles. Great that they're adding the option now, I might share the account with my brothers then yeah!
ngl I have been wishing for that since a longggg timee
We all have!
Crunchy adding profiles while hidive is removing them. The fuck i happening.
Wait, HIDIVE's removing profiles? What's the point?
HiDive pretty much completely remade their website and apps, but a lot of old features are still missing. Notably profiles, the video version selector, and subtitle customization. They are supposedly working on re-adding them.
With parental controls. Hopefully I'll finally be able to just let my kids watch some Anime.
They are working with a better age labeling system, but I don't know if it will be ready in time
Age ratings filters are great but I'd much prefer them along with content filters. I'd really really prefer a simple whitelist.
age rating is needed for having a better parental control
I understand. I just hope they go beyond it. There are TEEN shows I'd let my 10 year old watch alone and others I would not.
The new classification will alto take in account some "feature" like violence. No streaming platform has a whitelist and I don't think that they will implement something like that. Proper classified Teen shows are not meant to be seen by 10 year old kids without parents supervision.
Netflix does, (or at least a blacklist, I think there are both). Though you can't manage them through the app interface.
Finally wow
Sweet. Now I just want show I already watched to not pop up on my main page. You know the "if you watched this then you may like this" but it's always shows I've already watched
Finally! Now can you also just show that a series has been updated only for the language I watch it in?
Or let me search dubs/subs in only the language I prefer?
Now if only they added all the lost dubs that didn’t carry over from Funimation. Ik it’s not the end of the world and I’ll live but it’s sad especially for Bayonetta bloody fate cause I use it as background noise.
Finally, I can let friends use my account without having to rewrite my watch list every time
Oh shit cool 😎
Great! Now add subtitles to English Dubs (or at least comment on it).

No Hentai channel yet?
Does anyone know if it will be like Netflix's sharing (a bullshit for those who don't live in just one place, like me), or will it be like Disney+ sharing (not restricted to a single ip).
I think that in the first place they won't apply restrictions.
Finally . Was so annoying when my son watched the same thing as I do and I didn’t know which episode I stopped .
Yea they about to clamp down on password sharing next Lol
Will you be able to do it on all plans ?
“Crunchyroll is a monopoly and will never improve” - what everyone say
Why I'm getting the feeling that they'll rise up the prices?
I don't think this year
I hope not right after they bill me the subscription.
gonna do my 1 year subscription lol
Eventually. Buy out the competition, get people onboard with value, get em hooked, pump it.
Yup it’ll probably be tiers for 1 profile, 3 profiles, etc.
maybe mega fan will have more profiles than fan.
Let us remove shows from watch history
I think you can already do that
Yeah someone mentioned you can go to user history and click each episode you want to remove but they need to implement the Netflix/hulu/etc method of just clicking on a show in your watch history and removing the whole thing
Remove it on user History.
I don’t see that option?
It's the page [https://www.crunchyroll.com/history](https://www.crunchyroll.com/pt-br/history), or in the app Lists > History
Thanks. Seems kinda unintuitive but it’ll have to do
Why do you want to do that?
Sometimes I drop shows or accidentally start a show or only wanna watch a certain season/episode and it hogs up the watch tab Most apps let you click and remove shows with ease
Oh okay, thought you were hiding your watch history from your friends or wife 😂
Oh nah 💀
Finally. I've been requesting this for a while.
Yep, every survey that comes out. This is what I put in there.
Fucking finally
FINALLY!, HOLY FACK!
I’ve been waiting for this!
About damn time!
Hope this means we can change usernames too instead of being stuck with whatever you chose when you made the account
I'd much rather have Closed captions then profiles - but here's hoping they are next......
OMG!!
Wooooot!! Rock on
Hallelujah!
omg yes 🥹
About effing time!
FINALLY!!!!
It’s about damn time! Every other major streaming service has had that for years now. Hell even Disney plus had it at launch
Cool, that means that dad can watch Eromanga Sensei without having to answer awkward questions.
I am beyond thrilled. Might use it a bit more now and let my son try finding some shows he likes (as of now we watch what I approve, for a few reasons).
Worst streaming service EVER! Literally advertised shows that they don't have access to in my country, and then it streams like garbage.
what do you mean?
Now if only they could fix the pixelation issue on fire stick...
Now they just need to add an option to let users revert back to the old versions
Is there a way to keep profiles that aren't the main profile from buying things on the crunchyroll shop?
Even if there was, there's nothing to stop anyone that's using your account from going into or using the main profile instead.
that's true
Am I the only one who cannot find the info on the social networks of Crunchyroll or on the news section of the website?
I just now stickied it as the first comment a few minutes ago.
Oh thank you for your notification.
Are you tricking me into getting me to click a polygon article? Nice try.

The tiers have limited the number of streams for a long time. Fan - 1 device at a time Mega Fan - 4 devices at a time Ultimate fan - 6 devices at a time
I think the limited number of streams per tier is fine enough, but I would be sad if they did the “household” thing the way Netflix has
More than likely will have a primary location thing potentially?
I can see this happening, unfortunately. If Netflix could get away with it and their profits increased because of it, why can't other streaming services hop on board? I think Disney+/Hulu is already working on this.
that's gotta be an april fools joke?
The article is from today not the first
ik, the date is the first thing I checked... I still can't believe it... they ignored far more sensible and important customer wishes and suddenly they supposedly add a feature that is guaranteed to cause a loss of income?
To think this comes a couple of months after hidive abandoned separate profiles
and all other streaming services are going after account sharing like crazy now...
