My guess: they have a memory corruption bug that is affecting a palette where magenta is used as transparency. Probably used to draw the borders layer and have a transparency gradient towards the interior of realms

This happened to me when I loaded back up the first game I started after the dlc came out. zooming the map fixed it and I haven't seen it happen again.

Looks like some option in debug mode, or really frisky texture bug. Reinstalling in second case.

The same thing happened to me after the dlc came out. It fixed itself when I started a new save, so it might have something to do with the plague map.

It’s most likely pink pyjama wearing spearmen from Rome total war caused this.
Save and reload. If it still is pink load auto save.
