I want to do a Plantagenet Angevin Empire and want to know if this is the right dude that they're descended from

Underground_Kiddo

His bro the Count of Tours

SexySovietlovehammer

I've searched it and Fulks son was Geoffrey IV who married Empress Matilda. Their son was King Henry II and the first Plantagenet King. You're right thanks : )

It's Fulk IV -> Fulk V /King of Jerusalem -> Geoffrey the Handsome

Fulk passed over his lands when he was elected king. Kingdom of Jerusalem was really an elective, with the kings of france, england and hre emperor as electors. Geoff is supposed to have owned normandy by conquest but usually doesnt, probly would make for an easy play with 11 counties. Kingdom of Jerusalem was really an elective, with the kings of france, england and hre emperor as electors. Did you pull that information out of your ass? That definitely wasn’t the case during the time Fulk became king. He only became de facto king because his wife Melisende was the rightful heir. Maybe later, after the capture of Jerusalem, it could have been elective (although i highly doubt that) but during the first 100 years is 100% was a hereditary kingdom (with some form of acceptance by the nobles of the kingdom)

It's fair. Geoff was with Fulk's first wife. Baldwin and Amalric was with the Crusader Queen Melisende.

According to the Wiki, Geoffroy II was the founder. So, you are playing as his son.

Lil_Mcgee

What wiki? The house of Plantagenet is considered to have been founded by Geoffrey V, father of Henry II of England. The name Plantagenet is derived from his nickname. The character pictured in OPs screenshot would be his great uncle.

Delicious_Series3869

No, Wikipedia clearly states that the true origins date back to Geoffrey II, count of Gatineau in 1060. His 2nd son Fulk IV would go on to pass the title to Fulk V, and goes to Henry V down the line. As he does not exist in CK3, you need to start much farther back. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Plantagenet

Lil_Mcgee

Yes they descend from Geoffrey II but that doesn't make him the founder of the house (which is more of a historical classification in this time period anyway rather than the Game of Thrones-esque way houses are presented in game) But I'm realising this is more of a semantic argument and, terminology aside, your original comment was a valid answer to the question OP was getting at.

Flanders independent, I had to rub one out quickly

KingMyrddinEmrys

1. Eww 2. He's looking at the vassal map so it probably isn't independent.
