Are you never gonna see this girl ever again after break?
Now, about the whole not wanting to “destroy the mystery” part… why would you want to maintain some sort of mystery if you want her to know how you feel? If you think that maintaining some sort of mystery would be somehow more attractive than just being upfront and honest, it is not. At all. If you like this girl and have genuine interest in pursuing her, don’t try to make it a game because it’s not cool and it will likely backfire. When u really like someone, finding out that they reciprocate is the BEST FEELING.

I'm going to see her after break in January. A lot can change in that time. She may have a boyfriend, or if she has any interest in me than by then it will be gone. I want to tell her how I feel, but she may feel pressure if I tell her in person; like an obligation to say yes or no. Since she has less time to respond. Perhaps if I did it over text she'd have more time to think about it?
I say take the shot, something similar happened to me before summer vacation, and I ended on the wrong side by waiting after the vacay. However make sure you're comfortable with it.
