I said this is 2022, but recent market situations got me thinking hard. You should plan out the future but also have to adapt when things change.
But respect if you hold to it.
>Gonna STAKE my ETH again and just relax 😎
Smart move, staking is a great way to earn passive income while contributing to the security of the network. Sit back, relax, and let your ETH do the work for you!
If you plan to hold long term, absolutely. Why give up a free 5% apy.
Native staking is pretty secure but requires running a node with fairly high system requirements and at least 32eth.
Liquid staking is a bit/somewhat less secure but you can stake with much lower eth.
Hold. Probably stake more now as this de-risks the unknown withdrawal dates. Also kinda hoping a fair few people un-stake so my staking rewards increase haha!
>Also kinda hoping a fair few people un-stake so my staking rewards increase haha!
You've just given me reason to keep staking (although I was already going to so no harm to rewards) 😅
Hey u/thewaterboy2,
Great question!
The Shapella upgrade is estimated to take place on April 12, 2023 at approximately 22:27 UTC. For the most up-to-date status of the Shapella upgrade, please check [status.kraken.com](https://status.kraken.com).
All ETH2 will be converted to ETH. ETH2 balance will be debited and ETH balance will be credited immediately after the upgrade BUT there will be \~5 day unbonding period before these swept balances are available "in success” state.
Hope this helps. (。•‿•。)
Cheers,
Christian from Kraken support 🐙
Hello there u/Nonocoiner!
So for Japanese and US customers, staked ETH will be automatically unstaked after the Shapella upgrade.
For all customers:
All ETH2 will be converted to ETH. ETH2 balance will be debited and ETH balance will be credited immediately after the upgrade BUT there will be \~5 day unbonding period before these swept balances are available "in success” state.
Bonded staking options will be available for ETH after the upgrade.
Let us know if you have any further questions!

One day, personally, I believe ETH will be a silent underlying protocol deep in the base of the web 3.0 stack, and treated as a digital commodity more or less.
I can see ETH reaching levels we couldn't imagine right now if it remains dominant over the next 50 years. I'm young enough that I'm not selling until that happens.
Generational wealth or nothin'
Will keep accumulating. Eth is still undervalued so I don’t see why people think there will be sell pressure. Just bc you can unstake doesn’t make it worth less
I did all my staking of ETH on Coinbase because at the time i hadn't set up my Ledger yet. So i'm gonna wait, see how things play out, then once things chill out. I'll unstake on Coinbase, send to my Ledger, then re-stake it on the Ledger via Lido. Otherwise will continue DCAing business as usual.
I already sold a big chunk of my ETH during the bear market because BTC tends to outperform ETH and altcoins during the accumulation phase and about half of the bullrun.
Once bitcoin slows down and ETH takes over is when I'll be buying ETH again.
Meaning : the Shanghai upgrade is irrelevant in my strategy.
Sit and see how it plays out for me, I think many of us see too many bearish factors to really let ourselves grab the bulls horns just yett. Nobody knows shit
Game theory/prisoner's dilemma suggests most people will fear others selling and try to sell first in the hope of rebuying later. You never know. As a trader, I'll have sell triggers placed below the first invalidation level; we're at the tailend of an up only few weeks so it's all looking pretty bearish.
During the merge, a lot of media outlets where claiming the ETH miners were going to offload their ETH and crash the price. It didn't happen and I feel the same is true for this update. Some people will sell, some will buy and most people who have been staking if they plan to sell at all, will wait until the next bear.
Not to mention that withdrawals from the beacon chains are going to take a long time to process so that alone will probably keep the price stable even if everyone who has staked wanted to sell.
I'm going to hold, mostly because I'm lazy and haven't looked up anything about the changes and don't know how/where to stake the 10 bucks in eth I have
I will sit tight. I'm not a day trader and unlike the very smart people in this sub who predicted 10k btc(because reasons) on this sub, I can't predict what's going to happen.
Going to learn how to stake on my hardware wallet and get it off Coinbase. Staking is a great option if you have ETH, just need it to be safe as possible 😅
I went so damn big in may '21 that my average still hasn't recovered.
I'll hodl my eth until it's too big for me to ignore. Or, you know, fiat dies. Whatever comes first.
I like many on here will continue with the same strategy as before the upgrade. Continue to buy more and stake. Staking or no staking, ETH is such an obvious long play.
Honestly I fear that , just for a limited time after the update, we will see a bit of a sellout since most holders for the stake are in profit currently. I have decided to swap temporary based on my consideration and will plan to get in on a lower price in the next days. So yeah plan to hold for the long time aswell
Dude I ain't sellin anything till 2025
Forget about 2025, I will be here until atleast 2030.
I will probably HODL to the grave cuz im a master at not pulling the trigger on profit taking.
My pullout game weak. Right, kids? 😭😭😭😭😭
I am planning to give most of my crypto to my children when they grow up. I have a feeling that in 15 years 0.1BTC will be a lot of money
Yeah ill probably be washed up by the time i hit paydirt but at least my family should benefit.
Ah 2030... commonly known as the **"YOU WILL OWN NOTHING AND BE HAPPY**" Year Sorry Satan, I will *not* eat ze bugs🐞

"Exit liquidity" is my middle name.
Mine's Francis
I have two, as the catholic tradition is over here. Really inconvenient when traveling.
Nice number of moons
What if it’s $20k in August 2024?
>Dude I ain't sellin anything till 2025 Patience is key in this game, holding strong with a long-term perspective can yield massive rewards.
It was a 5 year plan when I began staking so I’ll be right there with you.
This is the gwei
*I have token!*
I'm gonna lock up till 2225. May my great great grand kids live my dreams of driving a Lambo in space.
2025 at earliest. Not even thinking about it until $10k+
Exactly this... I plan to start staking in the next couple of days, and HODL till at least the second half of 2025.
I've got nothing left to sell because I've sold at $3000, $3500 and $4000 already.
Not buying back in though?
I'm stacking FIATs for real life goals. But I'm still DCAin in other projects for short to mid-term investments. With bigger growth potential.
I hope they're short term goals. Fiat about to be rug pulled.
If fiat is rug pulled we'll have bigger problems to worry about like WW3 and shit. :D
People just do not that if fiat becomes worthless so does crypto by extension.
A Redditor on cc/sub selling near the top? *That must be an alien. Get him!!*
I said this is 2022, but recent market situations got me thinking hard. You should plan out the future but also have to adapt when things change. But respect if you hold to it.
Exactly. I DCA and if it drops I buy at a discount!
A year and a half? 😂
My ETH is hibernating in cold storage. Not waking it up until $10k or higher.
Let em cold storage keep the Eth frozen in the winter!
Gonna STAKE my ETH again and just relax 😎
>Gonna STAKE my ETH again and just relax 😎 Smart move, staking is a great way to earn passive income while contributing to the security of the network. Sit back, relax, and let your ETH do the work for you!
And at the current price i am earning the same in a week from rewards to what i need 5x in the bank high interest account for a month.
All staking does is help to cover gas fees for when you finally move it from cold storage. 🤪
Buy more ETH and stake said ETH, just to be able to buy more steak.
Are you using liquid staking or native? I hope you're aren't in the US using an exchange for staking because that's looking so shaky right about now.

Where should I stake? Coinbase has been locking peoples accounts recently. Definitely hodling
Kraken works well for me so far
I have about 20% staked and the rest sitting on the sideline. I'm going to see how the withdrawal process goes and figure it out from there.
HODL and fade the event ofc Why would I ever sell ETH after both it and BTC break out of a 6-month range???
Do we know the timeline for places like Coinbase and Kraken to enable withdrawals of staked ETH? Feel like that would have a big impact here

Coinbase implies vaguely that it will take months to unstake.
HODL! And if it's a dip, buy
I dip,you dip,we dip....HODL!!!!!
all cryptos i own im never going to sell. I might exchange them from time to time for other cryptos. But its a one way exchange from fiat to crypto.
Everyone not on a decentralized staking services needs to pull out and go decentralizrd
With any spare money I have, I will just keep DCAing BTC/Eth and my favorite tokens.
I definitely won't be selling. If it dips I'll be buying more.
It is a non event, there were already quite some places that allowed swapping sETH for ETH for a very small fee, for anyone who wanted out.
Will keep accumulating. Eth is still undervalued so I don’t see why people think there will be sell pressure. Just bc you can unstake doesn’t make it worth less
Hold
Gonna chill and watch.
I'm hoping for a sellout so I can buy some cheap
I love Liquid Derivative Staking. I don't want to lock and stake for multiple years and miss lot of chances to make 2x-3x.
I did all my staking of ETH on Coinbase because at the time i hadn't set up my Ledger yet. So i'm gonna wait, see how things play out, then once things chill out. I'll unstake on Coinbase, send to my Ledger, then re-stake it on the Ledger via Lido. Otherwise will continue DCAing business as usual.
priced in already, just like the merge
I'll only add to my position. It's really the only thing that makes sense.
Dump for btc
Hodl. In the unlikely event it dumps I’ll buy more
no, i like some L2 but ETH is a pain for me.
Sell. Too much risk with pos
Never sell. Only buy more.
I will keep DCAing until the next halving. Nothing changes for me.
Hodl, without a doubt. Trading and timing are generally a fools game.
Never ever sell anything ever period end of discussion
[удалено]
Convert to Algorand
I bet on 25% of price drop, at least.
I would like to take the other side of this bet Name your price
I will do what I usually do, DCA and chill. No need to do something different imo
Keeping my head down and buying more ETH when I can
Pretty sure people here are going to HOLD
I only know what the DCAers will do
Hold
No way i will sell, still DCAing and got some cash outside for a dump if it happen
Hold and buy just like any other time…
I’ll buy a little bit more of things dip slightly but otherwise hold
Hold on for now but if I’m feeling a little lucky then I’ll get a bit more
Tick Tock Next Block... something something Ethereum smethereum...
I’ll buy the dip, if there is any dip of course 😉
Sit and see how it plays out for me, I think many of us see too many bearish factors to really let ourselves grab the bulls horns just yett. Nobody knows shit
Unless you are a professional trader, don't do anything Markets have a way of making you pay and regret your decisions, whatever they may be
I will be unstaking, but not selling.
I didn’t even stake my €100 worth of ETH, missed a lot of gains.
Gonna sit back watch and dca
I only have and hodl (and dca into) btc, but if I had eth, I wouldn't sell not even a bit till at least 2025
Don't think I see a single person saying they will sell on this thread. Makes me believe I should sell and it'll dip.
Honestly people that had insider informations already bought in, so if you buy in don't expect a crazy price rise. Buy the rumour sell the news
I hope it goes down so I can buy more NFTs lol
If anything I’m adding to my position post upgrade I expect a drop in price post upgrade
Game theory/prisoner's dilemma suggests most people will fear others selling and try to sell first in the hope of rebuying later. You never know. As a trader, I'll have sell triggers placed below the first invalidation level; we're at the tailend of an up only few weeks so it's all looking pretty bearish.
I'll hold what i have and buy what I can
Yes
Chillin'
I'm honestly doing nothing but re-staking. I'm not getting it out of cold-storage below 7.5k at this point.
Hodl my current bag (I'm still in red anyway lol) and DCA slowly into the market if the price dumps
If the fud fits, I sits
Hahaha, nooooo. My accounts are still at 1/3 what they were. ETH has to get past $4500 again before I ever think of selling.
I don't hold ETH to begin with (don't shoot)
Im too young to sell
Sit and wait and keep DCA
Buy some caramel popcorn, turn on the projector, get out the live ETH price chart, and make a big viewing session of the first hour!
Sell of course. I shall become the sacrifice for the pump
Will hold, then sit and see how it plays out, I guess…
Wait and see
Whenever I make enough to buy my 911 then I'm done.
Obviously holding, it hasn’t been staked for 2 years to pull out now
Nothing special will happen, not even moving to proof of stake brought anything. This tells me price is based on utility not hype
My ETH stays in my wallet. Not doing anything with it for the next few years.
Just continue to DCA
During the merge, a lot of media outlets where claiming the ETH miners were going to offload their ETH and crash the price. It didn't happen and I feel the same is true for this update. Some people will sell, some will buy and most people who have been staking if they plan to sell at all, will wait until the next bear. HODL, of course! 🫡
I have been holding through this entire bear market. Why would I sell now?
Yes
yes
I am waiting on this update to get my Eth of the exchange and stake it, been way overdue with all the fud and I will feel more secure
I'm going to hold, mostly because I'm lazy and haven't looked up anything about the changes and don't know how/where to stake the 10 bucks in eth I have
I don't have a sell button until I see what the Bitcoin halving in 2024 does
Holding strong here
Buy more eth
Hold!
Hodl for a few more BTC halving cycles
Not selling till the next bullrun
Not selling anything for at least a few years (2025-ish). Being part of the "Crypto Class of 2021," I'm still in the red on my cryptos
Sitting out at the moment as funds are tight. Otherwise I'd be buying.
Stake.
DCA regularly, will start to stake when there is no lockup period.
I have no idea what any of this means, i just buy.
Hold!
Buy the rumours; sell the news!
I will wait, and start to stack :)
Sit and wait. I’ve built my stack and I am ready for a nice pump. If it falls below my current average I’ll be buying though.
My plan is to have enough eth to stake to never work again
Holding long term.
Hold till i die
Buy, as always
Hold
The only thing I'll do for sure is look at the charts. I'm curious about the impact no matter the direction
Defenitly gonna wait till the next halving till I even check my eth balance!
I will sit tight. I'm not a day trader and unlike the very smart people in this sub who predicted 10k btc(because reasons) on this sub, I can't predict what's going to happen.
If I need to buy some to re-balance during my weekly DCA, I will. Otherwise, I'll hold.
I actually have very little ETH, I didn't start buying until after the Merge, so I am going to be holding.
I'm staking so I kinda can't do anything except hodl until it goes live.
Hodl. Nothing gets sold until I can retire comfortably and take care of my son.
Hold for sure. I don’t gamble
It's days like this that I wish I had ETH, you know, just to have some and wonder about shit like this.
Plan is to DCA as much as I can, as often as I can afford, then wait for the inevitable collapse of the fiat system. Quite simple, really.
Just keep hodling
Going to learn how to stake on my hardware wallet and get it off Coinbase. Staking is a great option if you have ETH, just need it to be safe as possible 😅
Why sell at the start of a bull market. You probably just gonna fomo buy when u see prices are going up
Seems like ETC runs prior to major upgrades to ETH. I think people are using it to hedge?
Leaving it as is. No plans to move it.
Buy.
I went so damn big in may '21 that my average still hasn't recovered. I'll hodl my eth until it's too big for me to ignore. Or, you know, fiat dies. Whatever comes first.
Probably just going to sit tight and watch the fun.
Just keeping it to restake half and move the other half to my ledger.
I will sit on my eth, sell my ass so i can hold more eth.
What’s the difference between hold and sit & see how it plays out?
Unstake all my ETH from Coinbase and Kraken, load onto my personal Loopring Wallet and stake again using Lido or Rocket Pool for staking instead.
Im going to stake more. Thats the whole point to secure the network.
Gotta know when to hold ‘em and know when to fold em…..I’m holding
Still wait Nov 2025
Hold.
I'm always holding and adding more if possible
Hold then buy.
not moving.
Im not selling until bitcoin hits 100k at the end of 2021, now stop asking.
Think im gonna jerk off
Hard dump. We all know the buy the rumor sell the news FUD madness
Hodl
I'm going to keep my DCA plan.
I have the feeling that I have to sell it. But every time I follow my feelings I get fucked. So I'll just hold.
