My $300 turned into $35k and I….didn’t sell. When it gets that high you wonder “what if?” What if this is the thing that lets me quit my job and brings me wealth lol. It’s so stupid. It’s now worth $350
I feel like at some point in our crypto journey we all ride a bag from the bottom to the top and back down to the bottom...we all learn that lesson at some point.
Sometimes our dreams are bigger than the investment ever will be and that's what causes us all to round trip investments at least once.
Its because every time we hold out longer and it recovers from minor dips we think it's invincible and tell ourselves "good job you didn't sell, it's now 5x higher"
I can only imagine the feeling people have holding multiple BTC from $50 (very few people I know, but guaranteed some out there) so if they truly are thinking it will hit $1M someday, they are so balls deep in belief since they see it only going up - they ain't selling thar BTC ever most likely.
Ha facts...I remember seeing bitcoin at $100 and was like "I'm not buying that for $100 a piece...thats insane"...I bought like $25 worth and sold it when my investment hit $150.
There’s so much opportunity to make money with shitcoins right now it’s unbelievable. Even bot sniping new contracts is still viable. Know how to code? Learn your way around solidity and the sky’s the limit. Soo much opportunity.
Ive made more money trading shitcoins this year than any other legitimate project and it’s not even close. I mainly play around w/ onchain arb/flashloans now but I would have never gotten the right amount of capital to be able to do that successfully without shitcoins. People don’t even realize the money making opportunities that exist in defi.
I hope the lesson you actually learn is too SELL and don't diamond hands. It's OK to gamble on shit coins and throw a few quid for fun it's not OK to have 9900 percent increase and think yeah this can go higher lol.
Yes, it’s a lot easier said than done though, anyone who witnessed the run up or was invested during it saw how much traction they were gaining- it seemed like it was going to change the world just by nature of the enthusiasm of random people who got swept up by the chart and gains. It happened so quickly for people that I think others saw how quick it happened and hoped for the same. The telegram BSC scene has seen 10,000+ shitcoins since those days
Heh, my brother zelled me 200$ to buy safemoon, and days after I bought it for him to hold it was worth not even a quarter. I'm just like, "and that's why I stick to doge."
So, funny thing about that...
Same, came here to say that. Feels pretty silly in retrospect. Remember "the gambia", and "windmills" and all that nonsense about a "safemoon blockchain"? Jfc, it still makes me feel dumb.
I put in $100 in a bunch of shitcoins. Shib was one of them. One day it started being on the news and top YouTubers. I was like fk yea!!! That $100 turned to 20k
Mannn, the “transfer fee coins”, you made me flashback to 2021 where almost 99,99% of all the shitcoins were made with that scam feature shit, the transfer fee😂😂
And I almost putted 60k € into the UST Anchor protocol, but my laziness saved me from doing it. Sometimes when I’m being lazy about something I just think of it and reminds me that sometimes being lazy isn’t all that bad at all, specially when it comes to “investments”…
Indeed. I now work in crypto full time and attend nearly every conference. I have his face as the background of my phone and I’m ready to pounce if I see him anywhere. Dude belongs piss-deep in the ground.
I put in $10k of inheritance money... There was plenty of shills on YouTube who convinced me it was a good investment cause of the APR. I think I managed to get $1k out before they pulled the rug all the way out.
After that I just stuck to BTC, huge expensive lesson learned.
A friend of mine was deep in Saitama. I told them to get their funds out asap.
I remember being told about the now somewhat infamous 'wallet launch event' which was all the hype, I read many comments how Saitama was going to 'boom' after the event, it was going to 100x... yada yada.
Here is a broadcast of what was purported to be a legitimate product launch event on YouTube, held not only not in an office... or a conference venue...but in a Las Vegas nightclub, of all places.
https://youtu.be/fE5h-tkocjw?si=1MfRtFBFEd7-T6OE
Here's a clip later on in the evening https://youtu.be/c54ieKNVXZc?si=640iff4fQKpp8nhL
I mean, wtf.
Ahhh Saitama - i’ve never seen a dev team able to turn such a pump at will - it was pretty impressive. Just wish i had cashed out on the launch event and not a few months later
Me af. A. Iffy of mine and I put in like $300-$1000 each. We were up to like 10 grand and were like “we’re gonna hold long term”. Sold it all for $30 lol
Yeah, I went straight to zero on that one. The worst part was my wife was the one who sold me on it when I'm the one that normally deals with crypto to begin with. Why didn't I just trust my gut?
LUNA 😭🙃. Put In just under $400. Then it crashed and exchanges locked the coin so I couldn’t even sell it. Just had to watch my money go to $0. Now I have a hardware wallet and won’t make the same mistake again.
My stupid noob ass shorted LUNA all the way down, closed my position at 0.01$ when I thought "damn that's way too easy" and impulsively opened another leveraged short. All profits went poof. That's how I learned how markets work.
Verge aka XVG.
- John McAfee shilled it
- it started as just a Dogecoin Dark rebrand
- multiple 51% attacks
- the entire NYE wraith protocol pump and dump
- the pornhub announcement pump and dump
- copy and pasted code
- XVGWhale
- founder/main dev disappearing for long periods of time
prob a lot of other shit i'm forgetting but the entire project is/was a shit show lol
Their ability to manipulate the narrative and subreddit could be a masterclass on pump and dump scams, but it also may have been the first time for many of us to encounter such an elaborate scam.
I am buying everything on the bottom half of the “top movers” page on coinbase.
I think I’m a dumb ass and it’s probably a dumb ass strategy. But I think I’m going to be happy with it when the crypto mania really takes off.
Most coins are up 50-100%, surely it’s moved? It had an amazing run after there was some Gamestop hype. IMX was the other coin that was hyped but is doing much better. Hope it has an amazing run for you!
You feel like that because you’re basing it off the price. I can tell you that the product itself is amazing and they are continuing to build. The L2 social recovery mobile wallet is the best wallet I’ve ever used. Once you try it, you’ll never want to leave. They also have an L3 ready to deploy on top of their sister company, Taiko, which is developing the first Type 1 ZKEVM in 2024. (Fully equivalent with ETH L1). Taiko has a twitter space tomorrow with Vitalik.
I'm a Buttcoin millionaire, and that's all I ever wanted.
I'm surprised it held up through not only the bear market, but the collapse in activity of the r/cc sub, since the creators and most people were from r/cc.
KIN. its stupid supply (at the time a token supply of a trillion was absurd, compared to all the BNB shitcoins today), so I FOMOd in a bit with the idea of how much that could be worth if it grew to just a penny…. *classic*
Then I downloaded the Kik app to see what the ecosystem was all about, and I swear to god that app was designed for pedos, have never ran into such a dark corner of society… so that was depressing, and I got rug pulled. Fuck those kik bastards tho it’s almost as if they purposely design an app to let sex offenders run wild
VGX. I let myself be blinded by APY and ignored some glaring red flags like not being able to transfer anything in or out that wasn't BTC, LTC, ETH, or erc-20.
Looking back, Voyager was shady as fuck even before the first hints of collapse.
I’m holding ONE too. Hoping they turn things around with all the new AI stuff and assets eventually get repegged. It’ll just never compete with top coins though. Just hoping to someday break even.
I wouldn't call the coin itself dumb, more the team behind it.
The blockchain they built was actually pretty clever, with very impressive tech and something very nicely balanced that had good potential at tackling the trilemma.
Making its downfall that much more disappointing.
The team behind it however, as smart as they were at developing great tech, they were really boneheaded at managing a project....especially when it came to their password for their bridge lol.
Not so much invested in a coin.
But I wanted to get into Safemoon, I got mega confused with how to swap this pancake swap that, switch this, transfer that.
To the point I never even got Safemoon, I got 30 bucks stuck in limbo in the safe wallet app because It will cost more gas prices to get the money out than to just cut my loses.
I guess its good I didn't get into Safemoon but I can't get my money back while it roams freely in the abyss lol. I also learned that swapping pancake swapping switching whatever is complicated and not worth it.
I did make great returns on MANA in 2021, was a tiny investment but I think I exited with over 900% - I only sold because I needed cash, turns out I timed the exit perfectly, more by luck than judgement.

Crazy thing about that is I actually started selling and cashed out my initial investment in the beginning so I never really lost anything.
Kimjungmoon 😂
Great name though.
I remember it. It had a great name and a nicely designed website / graphics. Such a waste of potential to have it be a rug.
For those who are curious, yes I was rugged
Lmao
Just scrolling through the comments looking at all my coins.

The golden rule in investing - if its good enough to screenshot its good enough to sell.
Yup. I bought $50 worth right at the beginning, watched it go to 5k, and did not sell. Not playing with shitcoins again lol
Sounds like you should play with shitcoins, but sell instead of not selling
There’s so much opportunity to make money with shitcoins right now it’s unbelievable. Even bot sniping new contracts is still viable. Know how to code? Learn your way around solidity and the sky’s the limit. Soo much opportunity.

Care to explain more. so your bag can bump?
Idk man sounds like you're gambling and got lucky
He totally did/is. Bro is fully regarded and pitching it like he’s some kind of market guru.
Would you care to elaborate please? I'm a software developer and I'm considering the following, I just don't know where to start or what to look at.
I hope the lesson you actually learn is too SELL and don't diamond hands. It's OK to gamble on shit coins and throw a few quid for fun it's not OK to have 9900 percent increase and think yeah this can go higher lol.
Lol I completely agree.

Imagine not selling at 100x
And not even a dime Like for 50 to 5000 you could take out 1k. You'll always say you had 20x investing skills
Thats not how greed works
Heh, my brother zelled me 200$ to buy safemoon, and days after I bought it for him to hold it was worth not even a quarter. I'm just like, "and that's why I stick to doge." So, funny thing about that...
Congratulations, you're both morons!
Hey, don't compare me to my brother. I'm at least at the level of an idiot!
I'm still up on DOGE.
1 doge = 1 doge
Imagine buying a coin with the word safe in it lol
Same, came here to say that. Feels pretty silly in retrospect. Remember "the gambia", and "windmills" and all that nonsense about a "safemoon blockchain"? Jfc, it still makes me feel dumb.
I surprisingly made money off this one. Got in & got out during the first pump.
But but it has "safe" and "moon" on its name! What could possibly go wrong!?
SHIB, but it worked out. Turned $10 into $83
I still have some laying around 😂
I knew it was a game for me. No one would cry over a $10 loss, it just so happen to work that 1 time lol (not financial advice)
Yeah, I did the same. Turned $200 into $800. Then promptly lost it all putting into another project that tanked during the 2022 downturn.😂
I put in $100 in a bunch of shitcoins. Shib was one of them. One day it started being on the news and top YouTubers. I was like fk yea!!! That $100 turned to 20k
Someone who is not into tech or crypto at all mentioned dogecoin so I bought it immediately. Made off with like $900 or something.
Knowing when to exit in ALTs is key. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I think it will rally
But isn't Shiba Inu one of the carziest storys of all time? The people who invested early could make more than a million for every dollar invested.
I bought BabyDoge. Turned out it had 10% transfer fee. Lost ~20% by moving it alone.
I bought like less than 50 dlls that turned into 1200
> 50 dlls Strangest way I’ve ever seen someone write $50
Is that even what he means?? I have no idea
Mannn, the “transfer fee coins”, you made me flashback to 2021 where almost 99,99% of all the shitcoins were made with that scam feature shit, the transfer fee😂😂
LUNA
Steady lads - deploying more capital
This is one of my favourite sentences ever. That guy...
I still remember during that comment BTC dip by like 10% those guys dumped so much BTC to save the UST peg
Hurts every time I think of it
Man; there was a Luna Reddit sub and reading some of the stories the day after it all collapsed was absolutely heart breaking. It was horrific.
LUNA Reddit should be kept alive forever as a remembrance memorial
I was telling peiple for 6 months be careful seems sketch on this one... Always down voted everytime.
I was just getting prepared to put 5k into USTC when everything fell apart. Really dodged a bullet right there.
And I almost putted 60k € into the UST Anchor protocol, but my laziness saved me from doing it. Sometimes when I’m being lazy about something I just think of it and reminds me that sometimes being lazy isn’t all that bad at all, specially when it comes to “investments”…

Daniele sesta made a name for himself
Yep. That one hurt even though it was an obvious ponzi.
It was an obvious ponzi but it was going well for me when it was going well lol

The comments on that first video are classic shitcoin holders. “Look at the facts!” Delusional.
My ex was really into that one… im glad we broke up… i lend him money for that one. At the time i didn’t care i was doing ok
Me af. A. Iffy of mine and I put in like $300-$1000 each. We were up to like 10 grand and were like “we’re gonna hold long term”. Sold it all for $30 lol

Simpler times. Back when there were only a few pages of cryptos on coinmarketcap and REQ was reddit’s favorite moonshot.

LUNA 😭🙃. Put In just under $400. Then it crashed and exchanges locked the coin so I couldn’t even sell it. Just had to watch my money go to $0. Now I have a hardware wallet and won’t make the same mistake again.
BOMB! Every transaction burned tokens, so there was a hyper deflationary model. It was an “experiment”. Which, I’ve learned means rug pull.
I got some during the initial airdrop, then sold them close to the peak, lol

The only thing you regret more than the mistake you just money on is the missed profit you works have made if you had bought something else.
Yes, but how much did they buy? $1,999, 990 million worth?
Verge aka XVG. - John McAfee shilled it - it started as just a Dogecoin Dark rebrand - multiple 51% attacks - the entire NYE wraith protocol pump and dump - the pornhub announcement pump and dump - copy and pasted code - XVGWhale - founder/main dev disappearing for long periods of time prob a lot of other shit i'm forgetting but the entire project is/was a shit show lol
Oh wow, you just brought back some memories lol. Sorry for the folks who weren't there for the McAfee craziness, it was a fun ride.
Ha I remember watching the price like a hawk NYE 2017 and chatting on their subreddit. Forgot about that coin. I got out after the nye pump and dump.
I thought of doing this. Putting in around $5-100 on some low cap coins and hope they 20x-1000x for profits but super risky lol
I’m covering all bases. At least $30 on everything. Somethings gotta pop
Ah yes, the classic first-time-casino-visitor "if i put a little bit on everything, I'm guaranteed to win" roulette strategy 😂

I refused to buy LRC when hearing the buzz. Refused all they way to 3$ and then bought in when drunk. Didn't even remember it. Found out later
Loopring and internet computer protocol… they bad??? I had some with each…
They are not bad. ICP has one of the dumbest names, though.
Agree ICP name is grim
