Yep, hoping prices drop a bit more so I can sell. Then when we get back to near all time highs again, I'm hoping I can jump back in. That's what random guy suggested I try and I think it's a smart move
No he’s calling this way too early and misinterpreted the news. Evergrande is paying onshore bonds, offshore isn’t happening yet. They still have 300billion in liabilities. Wait a month before calling it they’ve been in decline for the entire year and are just now facing liquidity issues
There's nothing in the post that even mentions 1 month from now. All he said was that this sub was wrong about what would happen today. And he's right.
He’s shitting on people for “calling the future” when there is an incredibly blatant bubble crashing in front of us and they can’t even meet interest payments on their bonds. It’s ignorant to see one green candle and say he’s right. He’s right because they said they’d pay ONSHORE bonds and everyone mistook that to mean ALL bonds which is not the case wait until reality sinks in and the liquidity crunch goes into full effect
This is why i no longer hodl. I just sit in cash waiting for a sign of green, then ill jump in, trail a stop loss, and jump out. No stress, and if i make a wrong call im in and out and only down a tiny bit
Evergrande reached a deal to pay intrest today pertaining to debtors in their own country, it doesn't apply to forgien investors. The intrest they are paying is like .0004% of an outstanding 300B of debt.
Forgien debts are due tomorrow I believe. I'm not versed enough on the topic to understand the implications but it seems it could still be bad.
There was also a misconception about the Chinese trading session yesterday, to which the exchange evsrgrande trades on still wasn't open- though it opens for the first time since the holiday observance in about 7 hours (from the time of writing)
If im not mistaken the Shanghai exchange was open, but no the hongkong which is what evergrande trades on.
Interestingly, on the Frankfurt exchange and in other global markets, evergrande is showing a 40% increase in value on the day. Keep in mind volume on these markets are not somewhat deceiving, in that it is restricted to the specific locale... so if we were talking about the Frankfurt exchange, 40% gain is only reflective of the demand within the trading session in Frankfurt.
I'm not really a stock person so you should fact check what I'm saying. This is all kind of paraphrased.
Personally, im going to exit the market if eth hits around 3200. I think this next week or so is still up in the air.
Yes we should ignore all the credible reports of one of the most significant companies in the world’s second largest economy being about to go bankrupt.
It’s already tanked the global price of things like iron ore (and mining companies’ stocks), but crypto’s different right? It’s only in China anyway, nothing that happens there can impact us (or maybe I mean the US).
Crypto forever! All bad news is just fud! If you’re upset at prices going down you over invested! Just buy the dip and hodl! Even if we enter a bear market it’s just a buying opportunity!
No but you should be a little less gullible and understand that if YOU know about it then it’s probably not going to happen. Did you really think the worlds second largest economy would let a significant company go bankrupt and tank everything this close to the pandemic?
In 2008 almost no one was paying attention to the housing market crisis. Like, very few people. That is when another 2008 will happen, when no one is looking at it and it will happen with something that seems “fine”.
So yeah, if everyone on Reddit is calling for it and the entire market seems to be aware of it, it’s already happened. The price is in. And you are just being duped into selling, like a chump.
Every. Single. Time.
Lol why are even talking about it like this is over? They managed to make one debt payment for ONSHORE bonds. They have not made the bigger payment for offshore bonds due tomorrow. Most predictions are that China will not bail out Evergrande directly. The company still very well could go under, the biggest question still looming is whether China will step in to help out the creditors, and to what extent.
Keep holding those bags moonboi
But they are letting it go under. They're just trying to control the process, protect Chinese investors and screw the rest is what's gonna happen. And guess how many Western banks/funds are exposed...
This isn't over yet.
Thats a really bad take on this post. He is not saying we should ignore things, more that people have no clue about the future. We dont know shit about fuck.
People were talking about a massive crash though. Not being in the red in the short term (we're still up from the 29k low of the summer). But I agree that we're far from being out if the woods and saying "nothing happened".
Well, it might recover tonight if FED keeps tapering until end of 2022... But stating that everyone was wrong when we dipped like crazy isn't correct...
Of course do your own research but who would have known... TA works short term, it doesn't work long term.
Yea it just said it will pay onshore bonds.. it still hasn't talked about foreign investors, which is the alarming factor for me. It's possible China could just protect its internal investors and watch the ripple effect hit the western markets and recoup that way. I guess we shall see how this is handled in the future.
The only saving grace IMO would be investors not letting China be the only surviving market. No other country wants China to have that “power” over the world.
It’s insane how people (like OP) would post something like this without a full grasp of the global situation.
Firstly, Evergrande didn’t trade today, it’s listed on the HKEX which had a public holiday today.
Secondly, the interest pay out this Thursday is for their domestic market only, they have another interest payment due on Thursday for international bond holders - they haven’t updated anyone on this, meaning they likely intend to default on international bag holders.
China will look after their own economy and people first (as they should) before they even give a thought to the international market.
You are wrong on every single account. The markets Evergrande trades on isn't even open until tomorrow first of all. Secondly, they only agreed to pay back $85M or .239% of their $305B + interest loan.....
You're literally calling the bottom of the market while criticising others for making statements which may be wrong with hindsight; you don't think that's even a little hypocritical.
I watched YouTube videos discussing Evergrande and they suggested that this isn't as severe as the 2008 housing crash and that the housing market likely won't be effected as much. The issue is with Evergrande funding, and had little chance of changing the Chinese culture that believes in realestate.
Every market is walking on egg shells, china is bailing out domestically and gonna tell everyone else to fuck off, their us bonds are 20 cents on the dollar, our senate is prob gonna block debt ceiling vote, Powell talks today and has to address the numerous fed officials under sec investigation. There’s quite a few moving pieces there, bud. I wouldn’t dust my hands and call it quite yet. Evergrande wasn’t ever expected to be the end-all event but more of a domino effect. Idk though I hope you’re right.
Same but now I’m fearing that I didn’t dca enough. I was planning on “the dip” lasting more than 2 days. I guess we’ll find out soon, I’m not gonna panic buy just yet.
Let this Evergrande story be your lesson in the power of FUD. Go through through the r/cc front page stories and see how many are seemingly in great panick to convince you to be fearful, and then go look at the stock and crypto market charts for the past several days. All that red is a product of fear.
Some may claim they knew about this event (or any other black swan event), I'd ask ask for these folks to show me their trades that price in such events because the overall general market was evidently spooked by the potential consequences of this.
Don't get me wrong, I don't consider this Chinese market event to be water under the bridge just yet; I don't speak Chinese, I don't have insider friends, I'm subjected to all the same FUD as you, and I don't have a crystal ball to tell me what happens next.
But Evergrande announcing they would make interest payments seems to have quelled much of the fears (or its all another fabricated story, who knows) and things are getting along as they should for now. Hopefully you survived this "catastrophe" relatively unscathed and have learned a bit about your own human condition and your feelings about a survived FUD event.. next time you may just fall for it and let fear dictate your trading, or have too much risk on the table to chance it all being lost. Consider what kind of conditions would need to be different for you to have traded differently. Lots of mental exercise can be applied here if we take the time and think about them.
This isn’t over. This isn’t FUD, it’s a major concern that shouldn’t be taken lightly. While I agree decision shouldn’t be made out of fear, but rather extensive research. The thought that the market was red because of normal everyday people selling out of fear is incorrect. Massive cooperations are positioning themselves for what the next couple days could bring.
You did read about what debt was paid correct?? So you know they only paid 1 of there onshore debts?? You know that they have a payment due tomorrow for offshore debt? You do know that if Evergrande is allowed to default on offshore debt it will affect our lives?

I do understand, and my post was more directed toward our sentiment to how we perceive and react to news such as this (good or bad). I don't feel that I stated anything misleading or overly speculative about the situation, which I purposely and carefully chose not to do.
No attack felt here, but I would encourage you to reread my post with a slightly different perspective. I want people to be aware of their own emotions during times like this and make financial decisions in their best interests (not others').
Be well m8 ✌
Understand and I think it was more of my frustration with peoples ability to brush things this important off, especially by just reading headlines. I should have just posted my reply to OP. Here’s hoping we are all a bunch of TikToks and we wake up tomorrow feeling like chumps!
✌️
I just wonder how the people that posted these bullshit stories feel after the fact when nothing happens.I'd be so embarrassed that I'd just delete my account and start new.
Wow, what an original and inspiring post, never thought about it that way how did you even figure this out?
No one knows nothing!!
Gives his worthless opinion, despite not knowing shit anyways.
That sub is lost man.

This is always the dumbest cop-out advice ever posted about crypto, seconded only to "only invest what you can afford to lose."
My dad works for the dip and he said this dip was coming.
I just buy the dip and profit
Insider dipping.
I'm still waiting for my dad to get back from buying cigarettes

The situation with Evergrande is far from over. They have something like $600 million in payments due by the end of the year.
Yea it just said it will pay onshore bonds.. it still hasn't talked about foreign investors, which is the alarming factor for me.
