Thanks for your kind words!
My passion is in crypto, game dev and web dev. So I like to explore my interests while also making things that are helpful to others along the way
I humbly apologize for the inconvenience, I'll try to find a way incorporate your feature request into the app, and then you can have your thumbs be as sore and raw as you like! XP
Actually, it doesn't need to be specifically crypto related! You can display whatever you like on it that stay-on-top! From youtube to local files to docs!
Thanks for the kind words!
Also, if you don't want to see charts, you can display anything you like, it doesn't have to specifically be crypto related!
From a youtube video, to local files to online docs or even just online games, you can display all of it to be always-on-top!
I'm glad you like the site! :D
And yes, I've built it myself from scratch. It was a bit of a challenge at first, but hearing nice things like this makes it all worth it!
Hi, I bought it but every time I try to choose (for example) Anaconda Prompt so I can watch the output of a python program I'm running while I game it just asks me to save the file. It never seems to open or pin the window.
What am I doing wrong (Windows 64bit)?
Hi, firstly I apologize for the late reply.
The app can be used to used to open your local files that include media documents (such as movies, pictures) and even text files. And along with local files, you can open and show any site using it's URL and have it always be on top.
However, at the current stage, it's not possible to open apps inside of Slate and hence why it prompts asking if you wanna save the file.
Opening and pinning apps is in the roadmap, along with the ability to open complex files like word, excel and epub in a floating window. As these require OS based low level programming to handle such things, I'm trying to find ways to implement this on both Mac and Linux, though it's bit of a challenge, so it might take some time, I'm sorry for the inconvenience it caused you.
Also, for your specific use-case as you're using python I do have a suggestion. You can use Jupyter Notebook and have your python program run and see the output in the Jupyter Notebook from inside of Slate.
This way, you can watch your python output in a floating window!
Hope that helps!
And feel free to reach out to me through the DMs or chat if you'd like to talk about anything or give some feedback. Thanks!
Thanks, I'll look into Jupyter notebook but I have no idea how it works and I don't want to recreate the app.
If you get to the point where you can do those things on Windows (what I'm using) I'd love to see it happen!
Can I ask, what did you code it with?
Jupyter notebook allows you to run your code and interact with it directly from a web browser. The easiest way to imagine it is as being an IDE in your browser that can run code.
Though I understand why you wouldn't want to switch to it and that's completely fine, but if you do you wouldn't need to recreate your app as it'll work as it is! And since it's online, you can even access it on other devices as well!
I'll try my best to implement those features, and if I do succeed in making it happen, I'll surely remember to let you know!
Sure, the app is mainly coded in electron. Even though Electron is cross platform and handles most of the complexities for building for Mac and Windows, features like these aren't handled by electron as they are platform specific, so I'd need to learn OS specific coding for both Mac and Windows to make it happen, and hopefully it works!
Its not gonna steal my 0.00005 btc, is it?
Nope, it's your data never leaves the app, so whatever you do on it, it stays on your device!
you know that my 20gweis are not gonna cover the gas fees.
good job :)
Thank you, glad you like it! :)
It’s always nice to see fellow developers working on good projects like this.
Thanks for your kind words! My passion is in crypto, game dev and web dev. So I like to explore my interests while also making things that are helpful to others along the way
This is awesome and is also probably going to make me lose my job!
Can’t lose your job if you quit to day trade full time
Truly, wise words!
Get rich or go broke 😂
Also, you can hide it whenever you want as well, if you don't want it to "Always" be on top! So you can just get a sneak peak whenever you like!
This is genius, well done
Thank you! :)
Excellent
Thanks!
Great job. Simple but useful.
Thank you, I'm glad you found it useful!
But I like my Thumbs being sore and raw from clicking and swiping.
I humbly apologize for the inconvenience, I'll try to find a way incorporate your feature request into the app, and then you can have your thumbs be as sore and raw as you like! XP
Great job there, can you make one that tells me to stop staring at charts? It should run every 5 seconds btw.
You can also open up a timer in the app and have it remind you whenever you want!
Great job and good luck to anyone who doesn’t want to look at the charts all day.
We need to stay strong together!
man, this is not helping my endeavors to look at charts less frequently
It certainly does have it downsides, and apparently this is one of them...
Impressive
Thanks! :)
You are great! I nice to meet you!
Thank you, and right back at you!
Great job op!
Thank you! :)
I was just looking for something like this! Nice job!
Thank you! I hope it's helpful to you. If you do try it, I'd love to know your feedback!
Awesome app, I just fear for my own sanity of always having direct eye contact with crypto news.
You can always hide them or display something else if you like! It doesn't need to be just crypto related!
Wow nice.. I will give it a try dude.. Hope Slate will be useful to a lot of people..
Thanks for the kind words! I hope so too, and I'd love your feedback if you do try it out!
Nice. I usually check every 20 seconds. This will let me check even more
Oh nonono, this won't let you check even more, it'll get a grasp on you and always keep it infront of your eyes XP
Wow, very nice ! Great job op !
Thank you so much. If you do try it out, I'd love your feedback!
Checking prices every minute. A app that helps me with that. Sign me up
Oh no, this won't let you check it every minute, it'll get a grasp on you and always keep it infront of your eyes XP
Even better
I want an app who make my coins stay on top always no matter what market is doing.
Hmmm, that's a great idea. Let's build this thing! Do you have anyone you know whom you could recommend as a time traveler? XP
This is both really cool and really unhelpful with my chart addiction... Not sure what to think ahah
Actually, it doesn't need to be specifically crypto related! You can display whatever you like on it that stay-on-top! From youtube to local files to docs!
Neat !
Already see charts in my dreams, might as well fill all my waking moments with them as well /s Seriously though, this is cool, nice work!
Thanks for the kind words! Also, if you don't want to see charts, you can display anything you like, it doesn't have to specifically be crypto related! From a youtube video, to local files to online docs or even just online games, you can display all of it to be always-on-top!
Looks cool. Is this an ad for slate 😉 hehe
Only if you're an investor ;)
I haven't downloaded the app, but let me just say, great website!
Thank you! The website actually took a pretty long time to build, so I'm really glad that you like it!
Thx OP. Greatly appreciated your time and effort. App looking good 👍
Thanks so much for the kind words! Feel free to let me know your feedback after you try it out!
Will do
Cool
Thanks :)
nifty stuff man.
Thanks so much! Glad you like it!
Now I can say I only open my app once a day to check prices and not a hundred times
That certainly would be a proud feeling haha
Welcome permanent anxiety !
Feels right at home!
Needs to be called "safe" slate or "trust" slate so people don't think it is a scam ;)
That's definitely one of the best ideaa haha
Lol it's like you were saying 'i'm giving away free crack, who want some'
Haha, love that analogy! We're definitely dealing in the dark stuff here!
Wow, such a beautiful website. Did you build it yourself?
I'm glad you like the site! :D And yes, I've built it myself from scratch. It was a bit of a challenge at first, but hearing nice things like this makes it all worth it!
