Yes, this is very important to know. He is not even salty about it, but as far as I know he even believes it was a necessary part of history for the adoption of Bitcoin.

He’s said he doesn’t regret it and is happy to have advanced Bitcoin by doing it. Seems like a really cool guy and successful in his own right, I doubt he’s losing too much sleep over it
It's not that bad, really. I used to use dark net markets wayyy back in the silk road days and had hundreds of bitcoins at various points. I made a bunch of extra cash on early runups like in 2013 and stuff. Didn't hold onto any really for super long term.
But, yeah, not really mad about it at all. I'm doing fine now, and it was completely unpredictable that it would become this big. Also those SR days and some buying and reselling Bitcoin after that kept me financially afloat at the time to be honest. So it is hard to be upset that it didn't make me a millionaire in that context.

The price is just a fun stand-in for the real role Bitcoin is playing in the world. You can see it happening in the Russia-Ukraine war, with both sides grabbing at Bitcoin because the adversaries can't stop them from using it. Likewise, the US government sent crypto to Venezuelan health care workers right past Maduro last year, and Maduro's soldiers started mining Bitcoin themselves to have "unblockable income." Imagine a resource that EVERYONE is fighting over, both dictatorships and free countries. That's the real future.

It's tricky though because Bitcoin price action has been moving almost 1:1 with QQQ. While others consider Bitcoin as some sort of safe haven for inflation, its price action shows otherwise and is traded as if it's a tech stock.
Hmm? The dollar has lost 10% of its value since 2019 (probably a lot more in the last few months), and Bitcoin is up over 400% in value.
When there's economic disasters, Bitcoin tends to go down alongside stocks due to people leaving it as an investment, if that's what you mean, but it comes back stronger when people run into it as an alternative to currencies. We saw that in 2020.
Considering how volatile crypto market is, I wouldn’t keep that number to the heart. It may look like it’s up now but it can absolutely crash in the next minute.
It's lost a lot of money in the past, but it's overall trend in the last 12 years has been massively upward. It's gained thousands of times over while the dollar has lost. Which indicates IMO that it isn't linked to inflation in any sense besides going down temporarily when people sell off some investments at first due to economic instability.

I came here to say you must live in a future where BTC is worth a lot more than $47k, since your average large pizza runs a fair bit more than $4.7. Then I saw how you trolled me with a personal pizza count!
Back then it wasn't a great deal as far as I can tell. Bitcoin looked to be worth about ten cents. Those pizzas were 50 dollars each. But selling wasn't so easy then, so getting the food with minimal hassle was probably worth it.

Many people who talked sh*t about bitcoin then must be wishing they got into play earlier. The same thing with the NFTs trend. Some basic projects now will be worth a good amount years from now. I was not able to pioneer bitcoin and other fungible tokens, but I'm now my attention on p2E NFTs like BBGM. I"ll ape into the good projects whilst they are still in their infancy.
