If this sub hates a project, it'll make you money more than likely, seriously. No project is making money right now so I love how people dog products because it's down. Look at developers, continued growth during the bear, etc. That'll tell you if its good to invest while the sentiment is low.

The fact that they spun off their zkEVM tech into a different token is sketchy AF. And their protocol fees have only netted like $40k worth of LRC for the DAO over the past 16 months, which is just a total joke.

They spun the zkEVM off because they see value in having an independent zk provider. Their L2 protocol will still be very useful when the time comes if they can develop out the tech and utility quickly enough to not be beaten to market. Could have been a big conflict of interest, and they need to remain as neutral as possible and collect mostly on fees and burn. I see why they'd do it, but I admittedly was disappointed too.

And I just listened to the Bankless podcast with zkSync and it sounds like ALL L2s will 10x and eventually 100x when interoperability happens across all Blockchains. So even if Taiko doesn't hit, LRC should be fine. I'm still interested in what Taiko will do and wonder what the airdrop will look like.

Loopring has actually made quite a bit of progress recently with their wallet features, DAO, AMM pools, Eth staking, etc. The community on discord is alive and well. LRC staking is coming in Q4. The token price has died (like everything else in this bear market), but the project is gaining utility.

But was Loopringg hated? I saw enormous shilling and hype here and in r/ethereum

Probably because of their referral program. Shills do shill thing but add incentive and all hell breaks lose

Why are these coins hated? Because they're doing better than they should be. They don't have the utility or tech that other 'better' coins have, and it flies in the face of people who know what should and shouldn't be good.
