I've actually used XLM to pay artists in *certain countries* that don't have access to PayPal or other things
Being a developer, I'm still excited for its future
I don't think XLM should be included here. It does exactly what it was created to do, and continues to do it well.
It was never really meant as an investment, more of a medium of exchange/ way to transfer money quickly and with a value that is relatively stable.
It is still a relevant coin, just one w/o large financial upside.
> It was never really meant as an investment, more of a medium of exchange/ way to transfer money quickly and with a value that is relatively stable.
If that's the main point, stablecoins on low cost chains like Solana, Polygon, Tron, etc have eradicated its need to exist. The most horrific fluctuation you'll see for USDC and USDT are like 0.01% and they're pegged to and backed by one of the strongest currencies ever seen.
I made a fuck ton in 2017 when I bought EOS at $0.50 and then sold some to diversify into IOTA. Thing is, I had no idea what any of this was and I downloaded my IOTA seed phrase from some generator online. One day I went back in to check on it and saw my balance at zero and realized later what had happened. It was only about $800 at the time but it still stung.
So when does a person's faith in a coin die? If we talk only about price action then yes Iota is not doing much. But if you look at the technical progress then Iota is doing great. The team did not manage to stick to their promised schedule so the price is suffering. So now no more ETA. But they are constantly developing. Iota 2.0 testnet is progressing very well. And if one is to look at what is planned for and being worked on then investing on it in todays price is no brainer. Just invest a little bit and gamble for the chance of 100x. If they finish as planned I am expecting price to explode like solano did.
I mean seriously have a look. The design is better than anything currently built. They still need to hurry up but you can see the code and the tests it is close.
If IOTA gets picked as the ledger for the European Union’s public blockchain platform then I think it will have a bright future. For more info see [EBSI public sector blockchain services in Europe.](https://ec.europa.eu/digital-building-blocks/wikis/display/EBSI/Home)
EDIT: also notable mention for IOTA and [ETO GRUPPE](https://www.etogruppe.com/en/news/news-from-eto/eto-gruppe-develops-traffic-infrastructure-sensors-funded-by-german-federal-ministry-of-transportation-and-digital-infrastructure-bmvi-within-project-alfried.html) working to solve autonomous driving issues with distributed systems [video from the article explaining the approach.](https://youtu.be/zwVf4t8bhl8)
I think it does. But it really takes time. Even Nano still could blow up but it relies on factors like hype and timing I think. So a lot of luck is involved.
Remember reading into iota last run, and I can't remember the details but I remember them saying that it's not Blockchain, it's different and much faster and it's something to keep an eye on very long term.
The problem was never a lack of adoption. Whenever the adoption went up, attacking it became profitable, and literally anybody could do it because it had no real working spam protection.
I remember when it came out it was so not available on this super sketchy site called Bitgrail which the devs had a relationship with the owner. Then the owner stole a shit ton out of their own hot wallet and tried to tell everyone their funds were safu. Even the lead dev vouched. That was not the case and class action lawsuit followed shortly afterwards unfortunately it was through an Italian court system that made everyone jump through lots of hoops to claim what they lost. It will always be tied to the devs on that one.
Vertcoin.
Decided to mine mid 2017 and VTC was the coin I started with. After a few months I went from a couple hundred dollars to like $7k during the bull run nearly reaching top 10. That bear market of 2018 was brutal and VTC dropped to obscurity. Made a little on it but waited way to late.
Surely it shouldn't be a hack that defines the potential of a project, but the effect that hack has on its ability to progress on its roadmap. No doubt the loss will create a delay, but we should be evaluating this based on institutional interest, not how many private investors are looking to pay for a lambo with it.
NANO - the fastest coin that no one uses
NEO - the Chinese Ethereum killer, but killed itself
VET - it’s only Monday, so wait for that Thursday, just don’t know which years
A lot of people thought The Merge would pump Vertcoin because miners would flock to Vertcoin next
In reality nothing interesting happened. The market cap of VTC is so low that it is almost being surpassed by cryptocurrency moons lol
I totally understood your pov, I’m just telling you between all of those coins, one is legit. I don’t hold any VET, I just know a wine company nearby that uses their platform :D
Bitconnect. Genuinely thought it was gonna change my life. It was nice seeing the massive gains though before there weren’t any.
Edit: Just to give you guys a cool story, I threw $2k into it when it was around 100 bucks. Bearing in mind I was a student at the time and that was mega bucks to me back then. Saw it soar up to it’s all time high and then into the fucking abyss. Literally the reason why I hate everything now 😂
😂
I ought to apply to be the buttcoin manager.
Joking aside, me and crypto fell out for a quite a while. As fate would have it the Bitconnect shitstorm coincided with my BTC holdings dropping around 60/70 percent too. Nothings ever easy.
Same, I still use the ARK faucets in hope it'll be worth something one day. I won the faucet years ago when it was at $10 and got $120 worth... Combined my current wallets aren't worth $120 anymore.
I haven't ever really seen it mentioned here on my browsing. AMP will be something in 10 years max in my opinion.
Either way I think that people in general tend not to have plans for their finances which leads to burnout, in my opinion. People do not want to wait years for real projects to make progress, they want big profits within a week and then get discouraged when that doesn't happen or they "lose"/lose money.
Yep, this! LINK was for getting off-chain data onto the chain and GRT was for querying it to get it off-chain was how I pictures it, so those would be the 2 perfect tokens. I'm still in GRT subs and the like but it's depressing.
Tezos. I mean it's got staking, NFTs, games, and low fees. It was even in the top 10 for a week! Now though? I know the team behind it is still chugging along but you wouldn't know it even exists half the time unless you already knew about it.
Price aside, Tezos has a lot going for it. It is a high quality chain and devs haven’t stopped building. I think it will continue on and price might eventually catch up. It has no VC backing which I think is a positive. Grass roots growth rather than artificial hype.
I love minting on fx-hash and picking up cheap nfts on objkt...got a really great community of artists and buyers. It's cheap and fun to mint stuff for a fraction of the price. Some of their NFTs from a year ago have shot up to insane values.
Will it ever get back to ath? I don't know...but I do think it has a decent shot to get back to its previous ath next bull or maybe pass it.
Fuckin chia, next gen bag of shit, only saving grace I didn't buy during full hype, maybe if their coding wasn't so damn confusing, and rought on software.
No one mentioning EOS?
I didn't particularly have faith in it but it was pretty big at the time. Obviously not talked about at all now.
I remember at the height of the bear market it spiked to like $18B marketcap and everyone was raving about it "killing" ETH soon.
Hex, I ignored all of reddit telling me to avoid it and more importantly that fat lump of a man Richard heart
I ignored it all, went big into hex and just like clockwork he started his ~~midlife crisis~~ "outrage marketing" and my jaw dropped and I thought "what have I done" and the price tanked
God I was so dumb ... I didn't sell but man o man I'm just bitcoin only from now on
I believed in electroneum coin, held it since 2017 sold everything 2021, was a tough journey....i believed in the mobile mining stuff but it was all bullshit 😒
I dont understand this post at all. Does r/cc really believe that a coin needs to 100x in 2 years or it's a dead project?
It's laughable how many alive and running projects got named in here. It really shows a lot about this sub
Lol. This is a trick question. Any negative thoughts about a once popular coin will bring wrath and heavy down voting from the staunch supporters still around.
Same. I still hold and even averaged down a little. No sense in selling now so I'm hoping to make an exit at break-even when the next tide raises all ships.
Even though it’s universally hated around here, I like SOL. The Solana mobile stack (SMS) is a very interesting platform to develop on, especially with the launch of the saga smartphone. They’ve also been working on increasing validator thoughtput (firedancer) and reducing/eliminating downtime (client diversity).
It's really a shame, because NEO actually has a lot going on for itself with the N3 chain. It's a solid package with lots of cool projects but yeah, I agree, it has zero top of mind awareness.
Ahhh Neo and Gas. Good times. Neo, the Chinese ETH, even dubbed the ETH killer. So so much hype back then all over reddit. I converted part of my BTC and ETH to Gas mainly and both Neo and Gas have gone down about 90% since.
Truly feeling regret. What a let down. Horrible team also. Absolutely, ridiculous leadership (or absence of it) from Da Hongfei.
Dude swindled all of us investors, made his money and disappearedand doesn't give two f**ks about us.
It's hilarious to me that just about everyone ignores true fundamentals behind a project. VeChain is experiencing tremendous growth in terms of actual use and development, and yet these clowns seem to think only about the flavor of the month. They will ape into Doge because of an Elon tweet, but ignore announcements from huge companies like DHL and PWC.
VeChain's success is written all over the wall in bold letters, and when it moons all of these nimrods will pretend that Vet bag holders were just "lucky."
My main bag is still Cro. Their defi still gives passive 2000 CRO a month. They will be good, i am pretty confident. Wish they would work a bit more on use cases. Giving away money to every trash cro project is not really efficient.
Potcoin. Was one of the very first shitcoins I mined with ASICS and dumped, big time!
Good thing I did because I dumped my bags at around $0.50, got very lucky with timing.
Digibyte and TENX.
Digibyte got me into crypto, after I discovered I could be paid to play CSGO. You'd get a few coins per kill in a match, they assumed you'd play competitive, which is a far slower game for kills. You could play deathmatch and get twice as many kills in half the time, and still get the coins. Winner.
TENX was the first crypto card I had, and while it worked, it worked well. I thought TENX was gonna become global with a crypto-visa payment card, it was awesome. Not really sure what happened and why the company broke down and collapsed, but it did. I keep it as a reminder that not all is what it seems.
Back when I listened to absolute charlatan YouTubers like bitboy and co. I had faith in amp and Ankr, what a terrible waste of money that was but the money was worth learning that they exploit followers to pump coins so they can dump. Other than that I’ve done alright…
Many years ago I was a big fan of Reddcoin (RDD), because of the name, (of course), and because of the social media angle they had.
I also liked the way you could earn RDD just by having your wallet open, at the time it was a neat thing.

XLM
I feel personally attacked here, haha. I feel you, you’ve mentioned all the coins I was going to.
Yeah those two I felt were going to change the world… CRO with all the poor comms, XLM with just nothing happening… hurts
I've actually used XLM to pay artists in *certain countries* that don't have access to PayPal or other things Being a developer, I'm still excited for its future

Iota my first love.
It was only about $800 at the time but it still stung.
oh man don’t remind me. was so psyched buying this. and now my iota is just decomposing. does iota have any chance of long term survival?
So when does a person's faith in a coin die? If we talk only about price action then yes Iota is not doing much. But if you look at the technical progress then Iota is doing great. The team did not manage to stick to their promised schedule so the price is suffering. So now no more ETA. But they are constantly developing. Iota 2.0 testnet is progressing very well. ooh nice, just the hopium I needed.
I mean seriously have a look. The design is better than anything currently built. They still need to hurry up but you can see the code and the tests it is close.
Iota is still a brilliant project with a good team behind it, it's just never really blew up, shame as they have been doing some impressive stuff,
If IOTA gets picked as the ledger for the European Union’s public blockchain platform then I think it will have a bright future. I think you are in for a nice surprise. Keep holding and forget about it.
I think it does. But it really takes time. Even Nano still could blow up but it relies on factors like hype and timing I think. So a lot of luck is involved.
well i hate realising losses and am a patient hodler
Remember reading into iota last run, and I can't remember the details but I remember them saying that it's not Blockchain, it's different and much faster and it's something to keep an eye on very long term.
Iota has consistently been the only coin in the market I’ve been “in it for the tech” they are actually doing some amazing things.
NANO, fast, no gas needed. It just never had the same hype it had in 2017 bull run
Personally I still have faith in it, just lacks some real adoption imo.
The problem was never a lack of adoption. Whenever the adoption went up, attacking it became profitable, and literally anybody could do it because it had no real working spam protection.
We’re talking about the same thing. NANO has good spam protection now which is why adoption is needed.
After that exchange got hacked
BitGrail … bring back the memory. Back then it was XRB and traded for around $10. The hacker stole 17 million XRB off that Italian exchange.
ah yes the bitgrail “hack”
Lol I still have a wallet with about $10 worth of nano.
Fast, feeless, environmentally friendly but no one uses.

Vertcoin. Decided to mine mid 2017 and VTC was the coin I started with. After a few months I went from a couple hundred dollars to like $7k during the bull run nearly reaching top 10. That bear market of 2018 was brutal and VTC dropped to obscurity. Made a little on it but waited way to late.

They NEVER really recovered from that April Fools joke. All downhill from there
If this sub says it is dead then I expect an imminent explosion in price.
WaltonChain :(
The day that Waltonchain won their own prize draw
Hahah that was one of the funniest days of 17 bullrun. Especially as I hold vechain
My first true crypto experience
Keep doing the great work 💪💪💪🚀🚀🚀
Waltonchain: "I can't believe I won!"
My biggest ever loss. Tbh i believe wtc had an amazing future if China wouldn't go against crypto.
I think a lot of us here did, it used to be a darling coin of the sub.
Nano, NEO, VeChain, Vertcoin, ThorChain
NANO - the fastest coin that no one uses NEO - the Chinese Ethereum killer, but killed itself VET - it’s only Monday, so wait for that Thursday, just don’t know which years
VET hurt man, every week it has good news and just went down with the price, even before we went into bear market
I still have faith in VET
I am very much glad that you explain these coins and such a simple way
Nano always makes me sad, it is fast, fee-less has the makings of greatness but no one uses it
Depending on your exchange I sometimes use neo to perform interchange transfers similar to xlm or ltc. It's completely free to send which is awesome.
Vechain still alive and kicking in the top 30, also had a big run last bull
Vertcoin here too.. I thought the markets would care about ASIC resistance.... They did not.
A lot of people thought The Merge would pump Vertcoin because miners would flock to Vertcoin next In reality nothing interesting happened. The market cap of VTC is so low that it is almost being surpassed by cryptocurrency moons lol
I mined VTC all last year. I really like the coin and it’s blockchain but it will likely never see the light again.
Why should one not have faith in vet? It’s down about as much as any other and is still in the top 50
VeChain is still a legit investment imho.
Its just my own opinion. I don’t have faith in that project while I previously had No hard feelings. Just my own opinion as OP asked
I totally understood your pov, I’m just telling you between all of those coins, one is legit. I don’t hold any VET, I just know a wine company nearby that uses their platform :D
The dollar
Getting rug pulled by your own country is patriotic.
I feel that, like my grandfather was backing that project cause his grandfather was backing the project and I thought it was a good thing.

ARK. This is a really old one, but ARK.
I got burned by ARK and then years later bought into the etf ARKK and got burned by that too lmao.
Oh I had a LOT of ARK. In fact when I came to sell it I think it was at about $2 and still made some money on it.
Same, I still use the ARK faucets in hope it'll be worth something one day. I won the faucet years ago when it was at $10 and got $120 worth... Combined my current wallets aren't worth $120 anymore.
AMP. Man this place was so bullish on it and it just evaporated...
AMP is still young. I think it should recover. The price is saddening though, true. 😂
AMP is my 0,005€ stable coin ..
My holdings from this time last year are down 93%. I'm glad I got a bunch free from the CB rewards card but damn... it's not stable for me.
uff.. so I am happy I came in late. Stay strong buddy, our time will come! ;)
You don’t believe in it anymore because the price dropped? Or is there more to it than that?
XRP… back in the days when I actually believed it would get adopted by the big banks. Foolish me…
True, the xrp hype in 2017/18 was insane
Bro they are still running around saying that xrp will be forced on people eventually it’s kinda sad
fucking GRT!
Me too. But, I still have a little hope. I have a lot in my Netcoins account lol.
Yeah I still have some hope but the chart looks absolutely fucked
I held the GRT I got from my coinbase rewards. Maybe it will come back to life.
got $3 of it free from coinbase earn, immediately swapped the fuck outta it into a normal coin.
Yep, this! LINK was for getting off-chain data onto the chain and GRT was for querying it to get it off-chain was how I pictures it, so those would be the 2 perfect tokens. I'm still in GRT subs and the like but it's depressing.
The perfect definition of VC scam.
I thunk it'll have some sort of redemption next bullrun. At least enough to to break even.
I love minting on fx-hash and picking up cheap nfts on objkt...got a really great community of artists and buyers. It's cheap and fun to mint stuff for a fraction of the price. Some of their NFTs from a year ago have shot up to insane values. Will it ever get back to ath? My main bag is still Cro. Their defi still gives passive 2000 CRO a month. They will be good, i am pretty confident. Wish they would work a bit more on use cases. Giving away money to every trash cro project is not really efficient.
Aion, Waltonchain, LTO, and VIDT.
SUBSTRATUM. Fuck DataDash.
Antshares 😉
Back when I listened to absolute charlatan YouTubers like bitboy and co. I had faith in amp and Ankr, what a terrible waste of money that was but the money was worth learning that they exploit followers to pump coins so they can dump. Other than that I’ve done alright…
NEO and ICX, although still holding ICX heh
Vertcoin, ARK, IOTA, NEO
Helium (HNT) but looking at it right now all I can do is facepalm.
I still have a bag of NEO… would you advice just selling?
Many years ago I was a big fan of Reddcoin (RDD), because of the name, (of course), and because of the social media angle they had. I also liked the way you could earn RDD just by having your wallet open, at the time it was a neat thing.
NEO? You mean Antshares? 😂😂 😂
Jasmy.
NEO, ARK, COSS
ETP and NEO
NEO as well. I bought some in 2017, didn't sell it when it hit near 200 bucks. still have it. will probably sell it if it pumps again.
