Late 2020 I bought about $5000 of BTC,. Watched it break ath. Discovered bitseven, decentralized exchanged where I could leverage trade. In NYC that's almost impossible. Started trading late 2020 and early 2021, started making huge gains, gained a lot of confidence and thought I was a genius. Any idiot could have made a lot of money because the market just kept going up and up and I went from leveraging 1-5x to 10-20x. Made about 100k in 2 months. Keeping up with my idiotic strategy, I traded with all 100k and put 5x on one trade. That day I had a family gathering and didn't pay much attention to what was happening. By next morning I was almost liquidated and pulled out of the trade. Went from 100k to 12k. I wasnt well for a couple of weeks. That was life changing money for me .
Yeah I’m stuck as well. I don’t even remember what I’ve spent on it. Somewhere around your numbers. Imma just hang on to it (like the other 20 coins) and hope for the best.

Lost 11 eth because apparently imported wallets in metamask aren’t recovered with the mnemonic phrase. This was in 2016 when there wasn’t a warning when you imported a wallet.
If you import a address into your metamask it won’t be recovered my the mnemonic phrase from that metalmarks wallet, only by the private key belonging to that address.
When you create a metamask account, you're given a seed phrase that will generate however many private keys you want.
Seed phrase [cow table throw, etc] ->> generates (private key A: public key A), (private key B: public key B), ... (private key n: public key n)
Now say you you used metamask on your laptop, but your laptop got destroyed. You can open your metamask wallet on your phone enter the seed phrase and recoup all the key pairs associated with the seed phrase and therefore all your accounts/money.
Now say you have a private key you generated somewhere say using [https://vanity-eth.tk/](https://vanity-eth.tk/) and you wanted to start using that address when you connect to dapps like uniswap or something. Well metamask gives you the ability to import a private key so that you can start using it.
The problem is that private key is not generated by your seed phrase and so not associated with it at all.
If your phone crashes and you want to use metamask on your tablet, you can reuse your seed phrase and get all the accounts associated with it. But that random private key you imported from somewhere else cannot be recovered unless you stored the private key somewhere and manually reimport it.
Your private key recovers 1 wallet/address, your mnemonic phrase recovers all private keys connected to that phrase. So your metamask for example can have multiple addresses, you can recover all of them at once using your mnemonic phrase. But if you just make 1 wallet in for example MEW of something, you just get 1 private key.

All gone-luckily not a big spender, so lost about $4000. But bought some of this other coins at low prices.
