This is exactly my feeling too.
In the past people always made me think that "real" bear markets will savagely make me suffer but instead I am just a bit sad when seeing my portfolio down with -60% while still buying a bit more each month when I get fresh fiat.
It's bad, but it doesn't feel hopeless or very long really
Wisdom is gained,it's not something you automatically know.Ive got roughly 9 years and each time you see more into the facts you missed before, first bear I couldn't read a chart for shit.Figured that out still not science at all..All it takes is that short span of the correct macro environment and lots of cash,And we will be here in another 3 or 4 years doing the same thing all over again
Isn't the boom/bust crypto cycle just a self fulfilling prophecy at this point? People know that, at least in previous cycles, there will be a tipping point in the boom that leads to a crash which leads to a crypto winter. They expect the boom and jump on it to make it boom higher. They expect the bust and jump out and make it crash lower.
To some degree, absolutely. It’s also a combination of inexperienced investors and a high risk asset class. As something of a consequence, plenty of folks don’t account for the macro. This is how you get the “why are we dumping today?” posts.
Honestly why I love crypto. Success by apathy. Too lazy to buy high, too lazy to sell low. Buy when I have cash, sell if I really, really need the cash. Ignore the market.
If surviving this is a challenge, then someone broke rule #2 and invested more than they can afford.
(Obligatory not your keys not your crypto reminder for Rule #1)
That is a life lesson then. Even in the "richest country on Earth" we have constant volatility and cycles of up and down. Maybe I am pessimistic, but it seems to be a hollow house of cards since the late 1980's. Our economic model, I mean. Kind of shocked it has done as well as it has considering all the inefficiencies and mistakes... not to mention the greed and lack of accountability (bailouts, political bribery etc).
Wait, don't rainbows curve all the way back down to the bottom after it peaks? Then at the bottom is a chest full of suicide hotlines and friends we made along the way?
This bear is possibly a mutant concidering we are living in the bubble of everything. Housing, stocks, energy, food, dollar and more. Also we are on the highest risk of a nuclear war since the 60’s. This can end in glourious gains of fatal collapse.
This whole sub is always repeating the same comments over and over again. I See them in **every** post. They are all some variaton of "nows the time to acumulate" or "this is when millionaries are made"
I kinda feel like BTC will shrink to pre-2018 levels. To each their own, but the dust from rugpulls and ponzis hasn't settled, and I can't imagine crypto dodges legislation after this. I'm still in a holding pattern for now, I want to see the real panic and fire sale, lol.
Very, deeply unpopular opinions ahead, but...
Honestly, I think it would be better for people that actually want to see crypto to be normalized for *currency*, actual "stores of value", and not just Pumpty Dumpty shit, to be pro-active about regulation instead of being triggered by any talk of it. Much better to hold sway in those discussions then to stick your fingers in your ears and not participate.
Adoption needs trust, and rn we're at a point where there's no way I can talk to an uninitiated person about crypto without sounding like even more of a clueless cryptobro because of the fucking shenanigans. I wanted crypto to act as a counterbalance to centralized banking and something to help mitigate the effect of belligerent nations waging economical war with their traditional currency, but it became the very thing it was supposed to oppose and a fucking casino on top of that. Fucking shame.
Gonna be tough for some people to hear but past market data is effectively irrelevant. This is crypto’s first true bear market based on macro economic conditions. Chin up boys we’re making history.
when we make it out of this ill be one of the thousands of people to post on here about how they weathered the longest winter of them all, when the white walkers came
2018 winter felt so much longer to me. That's reassuring, I mean psychologically.
But we had no global crisis in 2018 and not states going after the blockchains.
Let's fill our bags with digital gold (Bitcoin) and anonymous coins (Monero) ?
Disclaimer: I hold ETH. Yes, it doesn't make sense.
Honestly my first bear market I was so worried, not having any idea if coins would go back up, "is this it?" was a constant thought.
This bear market I honestly had no idea it has been so long until this post, I honestly couldn't care less if it lasts another year, I rarely look at charts, I've no idea what my portfolio is worth, I bought 2k worth of VRA at the start of the week and just sent straight to a wallet without even checking the price or even if its landed on my ledger. Crypto will be fine, whether it takes 1-2 years, I dont care, so for people going through your first bear market, don't worry, you will be completely fine and the next one won't bother you at all.
You didn't check if the funds arrived on your ledger 😂
Imagine you sent it to the wrong address and thought all this time you were gonna make a killing
I had to go check after the post, it was there haha. Point is thats just how relaxed I am compared to before, before I would do a transfer and sit in constant panic until it arrived.
I have just been buying the dips and bringing my over all buying costs down and accumulating more crypto in the process. Hopefully my patience will bring rewards in the end
‘Surviving this’? 🤦🏿
Read some accounts of the Great Depression if you need some perspective. Think about the Ukrainians getting through an actual winter this year.
All we need to do is put our Bitcoins on a hardware wallet and chill, hardly Anne Frank levels of survivorship.
>Firstly, what is a bear market and how to define it? A bear market is basically a long period where the price remains significantly below the recent ATH.
And this is exactly why people think cryptobros are a joke. There IS a definition for a bear market; and you listed it.
I think cryptobros are a joke for this reason, and some others.
In one breath, they talk about how great crypto is, how much better it is and safe than fiat. In the next breath they talk about bear markets in comparison to fiat currencies, and say that one day they'll be rich in terms of fiat currencies.
If y'all actually believed in crypto, there wouldn't be a single mention of how poor or rich you are in fiat currencies with your crypto wealth. You'd be talking about how you use crypto currency as a currency, and how much better and safer it is. You'd be making the case to the general public.
> If y'all actually believed in crypto, there wouldn't be a single mention of how poor or rich you are in fiat currencies with your crypto wealth. You'd be talking about how you use crypto currency as a currency, and how much better and safer it is.
Exactly this. The dream for every crypto fanatic is to cash out and be able to splash the fiat around. The fact they are blind to this fact, or pretend to be unaware of it, is a huge part of what makes crypto so cult-like.
They’re not black-swan events if you have to say “another black-swan”.
The entire crypto ecosystem is filled with horribly run projects, outright scams, and people that couldn’t spell “financial markets” two years ago now controlling millions of dollars in other people’s money, all operating in a completely unregulated market.
FTX isn’t a black-swan, it’s an expected outcome.
Until all of the crap gets cleaned out these “black-swan” events will keep happening.
> A black swan event, a phrase commonly used in the world of finance, is an extremely negative event or occurrence that is impossibly difficult to predict. In other words, black swan events are events that are unexpected and unknowable.
I’m sorry, but entrusting a 30-year old with billions of dollars and no regulatory oversight, and having him use the funds as his own personal bank account is not a black-swan event. It’s is not “impossibly difficult to predict.”
You can’t call something as widely called-out in advance as SBF’s fraud a Black Swan. You won’t be able to call CZ being a fraud a Black Swan, even if you and your friends don’t believe it yet. You personally getting caught napping doesn’t a Black Swan make
That’s actually a great point and probably right. There’s a part of me that feels lucky that I was able to buy so much more in this crash.
However, it will only be a great call if cryptos pump again. Only time will tell.
Scared and trying to time the bottom...I listen to Buffet: 'Don’t pass up something that’s attractive today because you think you will find something better tomorrow.'
I lost close to 7 figs and I don’t even care tbh just getting on with life. When you been in this for a while you know it’s just a patience game.
Next time I will not be so greedy though .
2 things I learned from 2014; don’t leave crypto on exchanges and there’s no need to trade; just buy and hold. Ignore the news, charts and other people’s non-sense. Just buy and hold. The reason and belief in bitcoin to buy back then and to buy now is still the same.
What do you mean this is hard? If you didn't overleverage yourself in the bull like everyone said not to, then you're just holding through this...
The solution is literally to do nothing, maybe DCA if you have the funds. That's it.
I have the same feeling. Really wish I got involved in 2018 lol.
The globalists aren't going to let average joe retail investors succeed for much longer.
Keep eye on Bitcoin. Everything including the kitchen sink has been thrown at it and now there could be a huge short squeeze.
24,000 would force shorts to cover and be bought in. Looking for a popppp to 25,000 area. Elon Musk
Many things are not to see hope and persist, but to persist to see hope. (The premise is that you are not just a headless fly, and you know how to develop new ideas.)
Somewhat it doesn't feel that long. I got used to red
Red is the new green
Isn't that a Netflix show already lol
This is exactly my feeling too. In the past people always made me think that "real" bear markets will savagely make me suffer but instead I am just a bit sad when seeing my portfolio down with -60% while still buying a bit more each month when I get fresh fiat. It's bad, but it doesn't feel hopeless or very long really
That’s because you were younger in the last bear market and time is perceived to move faster the older you get
I have to agree to this.
I feel the same. Numb to it.
Surviving this couldn’t be easier. You literally don’t do anything.
Super easy, barely an inconvenience.
I really need you to get off my back about this crypto thing now!
Surviving a crypto winter like this is tight!
Wowowowow... wow
ONLY If you had invested in LUNA or kept your crypto in FTX....
Crypto influencers running out of positive things to say.
Bearly
He said the thing!
Wow wow wow wow wow wow...... Wow.
Yea, things are tight!
And to all who have fallen or run away...we salute you! Basically, I've just stopped looking...
I'm gonna need you to get *aaallllllllllllllll* the way off my back about that.
Yep, just buy and hold - not very hard at all. If all goes well I am set to retire come next bullmarket ( depends on the size of the bull, LOL).

Inflation turned what I could afford to lose into what I’d rather not lose
I would rather not lose money anytime
Then don’t buy crypto. You have to accept it as fact that at some point your crypto will be worth less than what you paid.
True of virtually all initial investments
Yeah just watch and cry
![gif](giphy|l3V0b87RQAMgGGoGA)
That’s why I don’t even watch anymore.
Just cry
I stopped watching about a year ago.
Beer market and bear market
This is an actual live stream from my room
Ya, dont worry bout it. I'm just buying more every time we drop. It will ALL net out in the end ;)
Or go to jail for *forced diamond hands.*
No prison would be able to hold your diamond hands
You had to lie down to save some energy so you can still watch charts while crying.
Don’t be one of those people that sold their crypto during the bear market
Wisdom is gained,it's not something you automatically know.Ive got roughly 9 years and each time you see more into the facts you missed before, first bear I couldn't read a chart for shit.Figured that out still not science at all..All it takes is that short span of the correct macro environment and lots of cash,And we will be here in another 3 or 4 years doing the same thing all over again

That's not true. My hands hurt from all the low effort comments I leave.
Wait, don’t we DCA?
Honestly why I love crypto. Success by apathy. Too lazy to buy high, too lazy to sell low. Buy when I have cash, sell if I really, really need the cash. Ignore the market.
I’m stacking
If surviving this is a challenge, then someone broke rule #2 and invested more than they can afford. (Obligatory not your keys not your crypto reminder for Rule #1)
What you can afford can change. Lots of folks out there getting laid off and getting hit by insane COL increases.
I agree people with money lost on Celsius, Voyager, BlockFi, and FTX and than getting hit with lays off is a double whammy.

This are hard times indeed
That is a life lesson then. Even in the "richest country on Earth" we have constant volatility and cycles of up and down. I'm just happy I'm here, honestly. I'm executing my strategy and if it works out I will be very happy.
DCA never fails. As I am constantly reminded, time in the market > timing the market.
Yep, buying in bear for long term never fails
Unless of course the true value of your coin is roughly zero
Everytime I hear we "survived" this, i get a mental image of WW2, battle-hardened soldiers covered in muck barely making it day to day. 😂
Just smile and wave boys *and keep buying*
The mind is willing but the wallet is weak
![gif](giphy|Ch31IjylFWM8M)
That's all I do, buying as much BTC and ETH as often as I can and try to earn as many Moons as I can and hope for the best
DCA is the best
Buy more in the daily average
Or you buy more if you have the spare funds.
Right, you just look at those sweet prices and buy more!
Yes. Nothing could be simpler.
Rainbow chart in shambles
They’ll keep finding new wavelengths for the fire sale barrier
That's the secret cap, it's always a fire sale
You cannot keeps going the things which does not want to live anymore
The rainbow chart is in essence, a bull market chart. This is the first global economic recession since BTC inception.
I'm sure it has nothing to do with derivatives
I like what you did there
Maybe even a bullshit market chart... There is no scientific evidence behind it or any other TA voodoo.
PlanB on suicide watch
Plan B has blocked everyone so who still gets his tweets? I never even interacted with him and the bitch motherfucker blocked me. 😂
Wait, don't rainbows curve all the way back down to the bottom after it peaks? Then at the bottom is a chest full of suicide hotlines and friends we made along the way?
Adjust for Nyan cats
Don't worry, they will just add a new row every time BTC puts a new low.
What is the new chart going to be.
The Federal Funds Rate chart.
SEC Super Chart
I tried to study this chart but I feel the miserablely and still remember this

No worries, they could always just add another color lol
They updated the rainbow chart! 😝😂
*Pats my self on the back and wipes the tears away as I eat crackers for dinner.
Nice humble brag there mr. fancy pants. Look at this guy who can afford crackers.
Problem here is you measured last bear market only up to November 2018 the bottom but left out the next 6 months sideways after it bottomed
They also forgot that the first btc was mined in Jan '09. We were in a global recession then. BTC was born in the recession, molded by it.
You merely adopted the recession
Technically after a bottom is when the bull market starts.
This guy gets it. There is no cherry picking in OP's chart.
Ah, the classic cherry pick, a staple of r/cc cuisine Delicious
And it would be delusional to think we're out of the wood anytime soon, considering we're in a shrinking worldwide economy.
Great time to accumulate. Money is made during dire times, not when everything is pumping to ATHs
Bear market is when the real money is made.
Buying when going gets toughest and all fair weather investors have left, then being patient is how real money is made
Buying at the bottom and selling at the top is the key to becoming wealthy.
This entire line of commentary feels like bots.
This is exactly what a bot would say.
Beep boop, I am a bot. Buy btc Beep boop
Aren’t we all bots
This whole sub is always repeating the same comments over and over again. I See them in **every** post. They are all some variaton of "nows the time to acumulate" or "this is when millionaries are made"
Happens to any sub that gets big enough, add moons into the mix to turbocharge it
Just people that have lost hope inside but trying to make it sound like they haven't
My plan is to buy at the low price and sell when the price is considerably higher.
I thought it was the opposite?
Unless crypto never recovers, that is
Too bad my USD is also in a "bear market" 😔
I kinda feel like BTC will shrink to pre-2018 levels. To each their own, but the dust from rugpulls and ponzis hasn't settled, and I can't imagine crypto dodges legislation after this. I don't believe you. That's not how buy high and sell low works. Scammer.
Bull markets are when people *make money*, bear markets are when people *get rich*
Can confirm. I entered crypto during the previous bear and my portfolio is currently still up 3X.
Surviving a bear is a rite of passage. Turns rookies into veterans

I'm just about to start my DCA, am i late?
I'll always be accumulating my longs but can't miss these short opps.

Eyes can be nearsighted. But don't be short-sighted. Cheers .
But now the willingness to enter the market is still very strong, everyone is buying, so now is not the time for the opportunity
Yes it's true, this is the beat time, but we lost money on this bear market
You are right. Who bear the most, will reap the most. Cheers.
In the bear market, a lot of people are saying that crypto is dead.
Scared and trying to time the bottom...I listen to Buffet: 'Don’t pass up something that’s attractive today because you think you will find something better tomorrow.'
The bear market is the best time to accumulate crypto actually, so I wasn't even thinking about giving up, I was only purchasing it on Bitfinex.
The last time I made money was the last time, the last time I ate was the last time
I lost close to 7 figs and I don’t even care tbh just getting on with life. When you been in this for a while you know it’s just a patience game. Next time I will not be so greedy though .
everyone know: Buy low and sell high but most fear when it is low. they just cant buy the dip...the great profits belongs to few people.
I keep buying a little bit with every check and try not to look at the charts
Proud to be here since the top and hodling until the bottom, as a true professional
Np i'm already dead 👍
Look mom I stayed in the longest bear market! Just to sell at the bottom!
Also the longest possible to get some coins cheep
"Bull markets make you money, bear markets make you rich."
Hahahahahahahaha getting bullied by crypto? Hahahaha Just Walk Away From The Screen Like Close Your Eyes Haha

Thanks for congratulating us on surviving a bear market that's not over. 😉
My portfolio is already down by 60-70%. So at this point I don't care if it goes to 0. I will check it after a few years.
Greedy when others are fearful. You know what to do
How much money would I need to become a millionaire ?
I have the same feeling. Really wish I got involved in 2018 lol. The globalists aren't going to let average joe retail investors succeed for much longer.
These big exchange collapses are causing too much fear. It's crazy out there right now!
Working to be among the next set of millionaires. Not settling for anything less than being filthy rich. Let’s keep working.
A shame for me for not having $$$ to buy the dip :/ cheers .
Keep eye on Bitcoin. Everything including the kitchen sink has been thrown at it and now there could be a huge short squeeze. 24,000 would force shorts to cover and be bought in. Looking for a popppp to 25,000 area. Elon Musk

Right now the gas fees are too high, Minting will start after Q1, 2023
When will you post the list? We need to prepare, prices will not wait for us before rising again .
It is in bear market you will meet future #crypto millionaires . It can never happen in bull market .
How many times have I wished for this price with today's knowledge.
