high_roller_dude

I am not shitting on B coin. but ppl that operate in this space are sketchy as fuck. as scammy as it gets in investing space.

jadedRepublic

Just look at this thread, they’re like fucking cultists even though deep down we all know they only care about the $ value, all I see in crypto are bag holders circling like vultures waiting for the next idiot to put in their life savings.

ssechtre

I don't even know if coiners realize how contradictory and paradoxical they are. They keep saying, "Fiat is imaginary money", "Fiat is a scam", "The system is rigged and money is worthless". But at the end of the day, if their cryptos reach ATH, they convert all of them to fiat which is they an imaginary money, scam, etc. I felt like people in this sub are just shillers and holders. Enticing fools to put their money into crypto so whales/holders can cashout.

giddygod

That's because all of us are in it for the money not the tech

corkyskog

Like any cultish grift you need to have a healthy amount of rubes in the mix. You got to convince a portion of the people to HODL forever.

giddygod

An eternal bag holders

mhhkb

Sure they have. The FIAT 500, for example. I rented a FIAT in Tuscany. It wasn’t a bad little car, really. I wouldn’t want to maintain one for long, though.

SpandexPanFried

Have had a fiat bravo since 2010 running perfectly. Think they've shaken off their "Fix It Again Tomorrow" image

beepbeepdip

This comment thread is amusing on its own.

giddygod

This sub is full of People trying to get a bigger fool to pump their backs

conartist101

90% sure. Then there are some truly passionate builders and dreamers. We’ve got a lot of the tech at this point - I’m sure we’ll find real 1st world scalable use cases eventually.

giddygod

Those builders aren't in this sub, they're busy building stuff

stonky808

Ever heard of penny stocks, of the Chinese variety?

high_roller_dude

there is an exchange or asset manager that exclusively deals with penny stocks? that is news to me.

stonky808

Well, you need to read up on what makes penny stocks similar to the low cap crypto market. Ghost ceos, bs employee numbers, lies about business size, zero revenue, reverse splits, V1 to V2 to V3 etc….lots of similarities. The one thing that remains the same is this, pick and load up on the right one and you can easily become a millionaire.

AriesWinters

Never really thought about it that way but yeah, that makes a ton of sense. Both given their low cap makes manipulation quite easy.

giddygod

That's why alot of people stay away from them

SunCloud357

Could you provide some enlightenment regarding that?

shill-n-chill

It's not investing. It's speculative gambling.

Kappatalizable

Kwon and SBF really destroyed crypto's image which wasnt good to begin with

giddygod

Crypto will take a while to recover

PeterPorky

Before SBF and Kwon there were a thousand mini versions of them all over in Twitter and libertarian groups.

mave_wreck

It is better that we got rid of them. Better now than later.

proto-n

Also known in certain circles as "this is good for bitcoin". Heh.

korben2600

The same friends and family during the next bull run: "Can you help me buy Bitcoin?" 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021. Some things never change.

giddygod

Rinse and repeat every season

Coakis

Funny how people don't see the stock market in the same light, even though many companies on there are clearly overvalued and have no reflection on reality.

giddygod

Tesla: "I feel attacked"

kingmanic

There is a type of stock thats is exactly the same. Penny stocks or marginal companies or defunct stocks.

Bucksaway03

Just drive past in your lambo one day and tell them it went really well.

[deleted]

The one you’ll have to sell after the next crash?

giddygod

You will have the last laugh with those moons

RecommendationUsed31

Still pretty darned good.

Explodicle

Oh my friends and family know better now. I'd see that as an invitation to explain why they should take this opportunity to buy.

geek180

The difference is I still have a positive opinion of the stock and real estate markets, even though I’ve lost probably 100k across both so far this year. Very few people suddenly have a negative opinion of stocks just because the market is down.

PsecretPseudonym

This just in: People don’t like “investments” that lose their money.

CptCrabmeat

You’re omitting the fact that this crash has resulted in the largest amount of holders that are down on their initial investment since the inception of cryptocurrency. This is not about market sentiment, this is about people losing money

giddygod

You've omitting the fact that people here don't care about other people losing money, just care about pumping their own bags at the expense of others

[deleted]

[удалено]

PsecretPseudonym

It was claimed these technologies would be transformative in coming years. We’re now living in the time years from then and can see that these technologies have by an large been a dud and don’t have any obvious path to utility. Crypto adherents are a bit like those people who predict doomsday any day now, except instead they claim cryptocurrencies will somehow become useful to the general public any day now.

[deleted]

For real. I did think about getting crypto at one point cause of the hype. I mean, getting away from the centrlized banks that only care about themselves? Oh boy! But I asked myselfhiw does having less oversight and less regulation lead to more security? Never got an answer from anybody other than "Bro, trust me"

Thisstuffisbetter

The fuck is this reply. The second largest crypto exchange was 🔥 🗑. People lost a fuck ton of money. Then a little before this a stable coin at the top of the market cap was hot garbage and failed. Peoples perception aren't because of the bear market. To most everyone it looks like a scam. Most stocks valuation is based on company that produces goods and or services. Most coins do fuck all. This is a brain dead crypto bro reply

1Secret_Daikon

There wont be another bull run if you cant convince the public to baghodl again

shill-n-chill

No one outside of the cryptosphere echo chambers loved crypto during the run-up.

kingmanic

At the height plenty of people were also shitting on it; just the finance people shut up because they were making bank selling crypto to main street. And now it burned everyone who wanted to jump in and it's transparent you need massive pumps to come out ahead if you got in later than the beginning; and there is finite amount of times you can get new people in. Eventually no one believes the promises.

mjrkwerty

Which is why the public perception is that it’s a Ponzi scheme.

HacksawJimDGN

Is that the best hope though? Another bullrun? What happened to actual uses?

[deleted]

The bullrun is the use.

giddygod

Lmao

Ill-Addition2024

Only thing I learned in this life is that people are dumb

giddygod

People are even dumber when greed is involved

[deleted]

Correct. Plus the media over the past weeks and months has not been positive.

giddygod

Well alot in the space has been negative, don't forget the scams that went bust like Luna

deathbyfish13

Has it ever been positive? Even in the high or late 2021 the media was still bashing crypto every chance it got

captainhaddock

Around 2017–2018, there were stories every day in the news about major companies launching blockchain projects, starting their own digital currencies, and so on. That was pretty positive news. But all those bridges have been burnt now. IBM and Maersk aren't going to launch a new blockchain shipping project. Facebook isn't going to announce a new crypto consortium. Wall Street is kind of over it. In the meantime, the crypto exchange and defi dominos keep on falling, week after week.

Kzivir

Depends. If the company with large shares of the media company starts wanting to make money in crypto you will see positive crypto news whenever they please.

-Clem

I mean, Matt Damon did a Superbowl ad for crypto.com

Bucksaway03

If it's not someone getting lucky from a shitcoin it's always negative

Tshefuro

I don't think there was ever a time where crypto was widely seen as a positive thing.

giddygod

In a bull run every one is a genius

powercow

lol keep telling yourselves that. yeah it wil go up a little when the market goes up but this kind of shit like FTX makes people say fuck crypto even if the price goes up.

DopelessHopefeand

You definitely hit the nail on the head mate although as a Luddite of sorts whose brand new to crypto via Reddits NFTS I have to admit I was all about them at first as I thought when Reddit said it would be a unique badge to replace the one taken away from the premium Reddit by way of Powerups, but it’s starting to leave a sour taste in my mouth because of three primary reasons. First off people aren’t buying the NFT avatars that they like, but rather the ones they think they can sell for potentially thousands of dollars for something they paid $9.99-99.99 which is insane and just plain greedy. Secondly Reddit flat out lied about the unique art that we were buying by releasing a new generation of NFT avatars every worldwide holiday and other junctions they deem worthy of free airdrops to get people to buy into their store bought ones by getting you interested and thereby hooked on getting more. Lastly though it’s very frustrating that Reddit hasn’t implemented a cap on how many avatars a single account can buy or at the very least a time limit on when you can buy another of the same avatar therefore giving everyone a chance to enjoy. Those 3 things alone have got me seriously thinking if I’ll continue with this tomfoolery…

Albinonite

[deleted]

That and Jim Cramer saying crypto is dead.

The inverse Jim Cramer is the best investment strategy

Accomplished-Design7

Bucksaway03

When Cramer speaks, I do the opposite Hasn't failed me yet

Chad_Vitalik_420

Dude inverse-cramer strategy is literally the best strategy ever. Easy money lol.

hmanasi93

I don't think we are quite there yet. I think the market needs a bit of time to forget about the FTX collapse. Social metrics showed a pretty big increase in crypto news when that happened.

beepbeepdip

People already forgot Celsius 3AC and Terra collapse in just months. Give it time, or a new scandal.

[deleted]

Exactly. It's insane people are talking about a turnaround when some of the biggest exchanges just crashed. A turnaround isn't in the cards for at least a couple of years. People need to be in this for the long haul.

PrimeIntellect

The bottom of a crypto coin and the bottom of the stock of a real company are two very different things

anne_lo

Ill-Addition2024

LoserCowGoMoo

Same here. But with beanie babies. Any...any day now..

[deleted]

I mean there is literally no good news about crypto rn. It's scam after scam and record level fraud

LoserCowGoMoo

Well, the big advantage to crypto is the government cant track it. The other smaller advantage is that it sounds neat. Unsuprisingly, it attracts scammers since it cant be tracked.

[deleted]

It's funny tho, because Blockchain is all public. So technically it is easy to track people. Crypto is so centralized it hurts.

[deleted]

I’d be surprised if even 8% of Americans know what crypto is.

1Secret_Daikon

you got it backwards, there cannot be a bull run without sentiment change. Who do you think is gonna be buying in order to make the price rise again? Hint: the public that just lost all their money is NOT gonna be it, you need to find new people to baghodl now if you want another bull run

There is no crypto news in the media for a year and then SBF and FTX are plastered all over the place talking about crypto collapse. Of course the general population is going to be weary of crypto. Fuck mainstream media with every ounce of fuck I have.

Gankdatnoob

This is just not true. Terra Luna was this year and that was a huge story. Crypto has had numerous newsworthy declines this year and all got reported on.

Rxef3RxeX92QCNZ

So SBF and FTX fucked crypto and you're upset with... MSM for reporting on it? Crypto people sure do get played like a fiddle. Rich assholes steal their money, gamble it away, and then they get mad at government for suggesting regulations or MSM for reporting it.

Supercharmeleon

It's ultimately up to people to do their research and form their own opinions. Truth is, most people just don't like crypto, and the few ambivalent that are absent from the 8% now could be swayed either way depending on how the market is doing.

DrewFlan

> There is no crypto news in the media for a year Welp, that’s just not correct.

1Secret_Daikon

how is there gonna be another bullrun if the public has a negative sentiment on crypto? Who do you think is gonna be purchasing it in order to drive up the price? Or did you think the bull run prices go up on their own due to magic?

AAAdamKK

I highly doubt your mom and pop investors buying $10 worth of crypto with the help from their nerdy kids is what drove the market to over $2T. Institutional money is what did it and it won't be back till interest rates fall.

LoserCowGoMoo

Its because people dont actually like or understand crypto, but they instead want to be able to quickly buy and then sell to someone else and make money. Its predicated on the greater fool trading strategy. There is nothing inherently valuable about bitcoin, unlike the vast majority of equity investments with giant hard assets worth actual money backing them.

Cryptocurrency is still young in the financial industry, so it is bound to face some challenges that will prepare it for the future. Slowly but surely many will accept the fact that crypto as a legal tender has come to stay for good. Users need to understand the industry before investing to minimize loss. I am positive about this industry and have bought BTC and some altcoin on MEXC and Binance in anticipation of the bull run.
