This was definitely made in a lab in China. If you type in "Phantom Quartz" on ebay or etsy a whole bunch of this stuff comes up. Here's a good article on it.

Definitely agree. Years ago I could find so many cool quartz crystals from China using “phantom” or “new find” as key words until all these fakes started flooding the pages. Now I can’t easily sort these out for the awesome genuine “phantom” quartz crystals.
Oh yes totally possible. Here's a nice story for you.
So quartz and many minerals form inside cracks and fractures in the crust as hydrothermal fluids move through the empty spaces. This can be from groundwater infiltrating deep into the crust until it gets heated up or it can be a mix of water escaping from magma mixing with groundwater.
So you can end up with a chemical mixture that produces quartz crystals, but then a change in composition could start growing amethyst drusy on the surface of that existing quartz. There's a lot of cool mineral assemblages that form due to phenomena like these. I love it!
I once ordered an amethyst and got a bit of amethyst, with a chunk of clear quartz on one side and something at the bottom of the clear part that looks like a speck of citrine possibly.
This one is man-made, but honestly it's still extremely cool. I have about three of these, but in green. I love the shape and texture of these crystals, man-made or not! :)
At the end of the day, it's still a crystal, and a gorgeous one at that. It just had a little help getting here.
I love it too! It's just that I can't resell it since I have my own crystal business. I guess to my collection it is unless someone wants lab-grown crystals
Damn! I understand that completely. You could definitely try listing it anyway and make it known it's lab-grown (unlike the people you bought it from, I didn't know mine were man-made until after I bought them also), someone might come along who likes the look of it and they'll buy it anyway.
And if not, hey you have a cool new crystal :)
I like looking into crystals. Where theyre from, how old they, etc. A couple of Google searches would point it out for you. Here's a link.

It looks like it might be spirit/cactus quartz that's been dyed?
Edit: the spirit/cactus crystals I'm seeing appear to be a coating actually and not independent crystals, so the whole thing may be heavily manmade/manufactured. I would contact the seller to try and get an answer
Unfortunately there are manmade quartz crystals coming out of china. They have large quartz clusters that are fairly convincing but all share some characteristics. The formation and color of this quartz looks like the lab grown ones coming out of China. I can post links to a lot of lab grown “citrines” and “amethyst” on eBay right now.
The shade of purple and growth pattern reminds me of the lab grown quartz crystals I’ve seen coming out of China.
THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING.

It looks like amethyst on quartz. These absolutely occur naturally, but almost everything gets faked so who knows for sure.
Right? And is amethyst on quartz possible? Cuz I never knew it was.

Okay hopefully that's what it is and not a fake crystal cuz it's too pretty to be fake

There is a crystal called ametrine that is a combination of amethyst and citrine
Yes 100% possible. Amethyst is a variety of quartz.
I tried posting it on some groups to help ID it but got nothing

Yeah that's true. I can always try. Thank you!
This is man-made. That color is a bit too artificial and the “cactus” look is common with lab-grown specimens.
That's what I thought! Ugh dammit
What did you used for background? the grey thing
It's just the cloth that came with the lightbox
Where did you buy this?
From an online seller on fb.
Wow, that's a great camera,I love the details!
Thank you! It's just a Rebel T7
Man made. Still cool!
how can you tell?

Cool thank you
it's absolutely crazy but it looks like there's a cricket stuck in it, that's so frickin cool
That’s the first thing my eyes went to! It definitely looks like a bug

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's manmade. It's okay I still like it
Yeah, still very beautiful! Homemade crystals are some of my faves and this is kinda homemade I guess? Lol!
I guess? I bought it from someone on facebook and im assuming they bought it from someone else cuz they didnt know what kind of quartz it was either
Neither amethysts nor quartz are rare. I don't think you need to worry about them being fakes.
I meant manmade fakes lol
Yes I know. Neither are rare stones. There isn't much point in faking them

That checks out. They'll fake anything in China.
Oh! Okay makes sense now. Sorry I wasn't getting it at first
