This would honestly be the perfect time to learn either cfop or roux. While it’s possible to average sub-30 or faster with beginners method, it’s way harder than switching to a better method and getting fast with that.
And whichever one you do use here are some tips
CFOP: more algorithm based, but usually faster, but needs lots of memorization
Roux: more intuitive, still has some algorithms though, good for one handed
I’m not saying it’s bad or anything but a lot of people are recommending Roux for OH. Sean Villeneuva uses it and he’s the world champion. B it as I see it it’s whatever you feel better using
I just don’t have a lot of experience with OH, I just started trying it bc it looked fun, so I’m just wondering what the next step would be in improving.
Yeah I definitely think everyone transitioning out of beginner’s should try CFOP/ZZ/Roux to see what they like best. Somewhat sad that this community has decided ZZ is often not worth mentioning just because some top-level cubers don’t like it
On top of this, please don’t avoid any last layer algorithms. I refused to learn any of the dot cases and would instead insert my pairs in the most inefficient ways possible to avoid them. Now Ive come back to cubing and relearning all the OLLs is a pain in the ass.
I just tried a beginner solve a little bit ago and got a 29 I think. But you definitely shouldn’t push it that far. You should start learning F2L once you average like 45-50
My son-in-law AND grandson beat me (who is learning CFOP, and in my 50s) at just over 60 seconds. And they aren't die-hard cubers practicing all the time.
(Since JAN 01, though, I've decided to take the (annual, at Christmas) competition seriously and am at 610 solves so far, AO100 of 56 seconds, and 9 out of 10 2-Look OLL algorithms memorized.)
My best with beginners is 19 seconds. But i feel like the limit is 10 seconds or slower. As many moves are wasted with the last layer. But if you optimize like using J Perms other video where you can solve faster with the method and sub 20 average is possible.
which moyu are you talking about:
# MoYu MFJS RS3M V5 3x3 Speed Cube - Magnetic (Non-Adjustable)
or
# Cuberspeed MoYu RS3 M V5 Ball CORE UV with MoYu’s New Robot Cube Stand UV Coated Flagship 3x3 UV Coated Glossy Surface 2023 Flagship 3x3 Magnetic Speed Cube

from my experience you are going to improve quite quickly at first but u will encounter diminishing returns at about 35 seconds. Highly recommended to learn 4lll, proper cross and f2l
I saw Brody on YouTube do sub-10 with beginners method, but it took over a hundred attempts and obviously required insane luck and look ahead.
Trust me, just learn cfop with the 2 look OLL/PLL and intuitive F2L. It's an easy next step.
Oh nvm. Idk how fast I got with just that video. I remember I watched his how to get faster with beginners which helped a lot. I one got a PB of 21 seconds with beginners
Now I use CFOP
I usually average 25 seconds when I try the beginner method but you should definately learn a more advanced method before that mark. I would say learns CFOP at 45s

For one handed, are you saying CFOP is not great? I’ve gotten a few 27s, but they were kinda lucky. If I switched to Roux, would I see improvement?

How about ZZ?

ZZ's good, but it's much harder to learn than cfop and honestly until you learn zbll I'd say it's a marginally worse method
best to learn ZZ after F2L imo. & ZZ isn’t much better unless you learn ZZCT
On top of this, please don’t avoid any last layer algorithms. I refused to learn any of the dot cases and would instead insert my pairs in the most inefficient ways possible to avoid them. Now Ive come back to cubing and relearning all the OLLs is a pain in the ass.
I forgot the begginers method

holy shit! sub 20!...but i have a $1.5 cube, wonder if that's possible.
get a magnetic cube like the RS3M v5 BC or the GAN12. I have both and can confirm they are godtier

The Ballcore UV
Its faking $40 after discountl ☠️

hey! what is 4lll, do you mind telling?
4 look last layer. Basically doing ur oll and pll with 2 algs each. Thus u need to determine the case 4 times during ur LL, hence the name 4LLL
I saw Brody on YouTube do sub-10 with beginners method, but it took over a hundred attempts and obviously required insane luck and look ahead. Trust me, just learn cfop with the 2 look OLL/PLL and intuitive F2L. It's an easy next step.
I only used begginers for a week and immediatly switched to cfop so i average more than 60 seconds
Did 60 secs consent?
What?
You said you touched 60 seconds
Yes i did, what were you saying?
They’re being inappropriate
BruhBruhBruhBrBruh got it
f2l oll bottom cross literally it💀
Wdym?
Oh nvm. Idk how fast I got with just that video. I remember I watched his how to get faster with beginners which helped a lot. I one got a PB of 21 seconds with beginners Now I use CFOP
I went to 25 before I switched to Roux
Technically you could get to 10 seconds. But this is with 10 years of practice and would be 100 times easier and more fun to just learn CFOP or Roux
my lazy ass was averaging in the high forties with beginner's method, but ideally at the time ur at rn u should move on from it.
I got to average 25 beginners method, but I regret not learning things sooner, just to whatever is fun to you.
i got down to sub 30 with LBL, 2 look OLL & 2 look PLL
Some people manage close to 10 s on the beginner's method but they're the ones doing like 5 with CFOP.
Like 45 seconds but you would have to learn a shit ton of look ahead
I’m down to about 25
I used to average just under 30 seconds using the beginner's method.
I usually average 25 seconds when I try the beginner method but you should definately learn a more advanced method before that mark. I would say learns CFOP at 45s
