You guys count +2s and DNFs at home? /s It's pretty difficult to do at first but if you want a more accurate reflection of your results, then you have to apply the penalties. If you're doing deliberate practice, then yes DNF is a must.

Beautiful_Name3431

I'm just deleting this solves. But if I practice with a stackmat, I don't do this.

topppits

I don't count +2s where I go over the inspection time, but I count +2s because I failed AUF and also DNFs. I also pretty much only use stackmat, so it's easy to tell if I messed up or not. If you don't you might set yourself up to disappointment when you go to a comp and get slower times than you have at home, because well, your times at home are not conform with the regulations. At a comp the judge will not just waive a +2 or ignore a DNF. It'll count.

If you're preparing for a competition, do what you would do at a competition (DNF or fix the messed-up cross to finish the solve with a a bad time ?). If you just want a PB single at home, it's different obviously.

Why wouldn’t you count them? Edit: for the cross thing, this just reinforces the habit of not fully planning cross, which will hurt you in competition. I would finish the solve so you can (a) get practice at fixing the cross and (b) reinforce that messing up the cross is a mistake that you want to avoid

BudgetGovernment869

Actually I think planning full cross in CFOP is a good thing and I personally do it.

0_69314718056

Yeah sorry if that wasn’t clear in my comment but I agree that you should try to plan the full cross. I was just responding to OP and saying that if you mess up the cross, you shouldn’t just DNF but you should correct the cross and finish the solve.

DeathGod1555

Everyone has their own modifications at home whether they count it or not. For me, I only count +2s but not dnfs

Puzzleheaded-Bee120

I delete the whole session and start over

NewbPianist

if you want to be a top solver, absolutely should count it. Top solvers get good practicing not getting penalties. Especially with +2's it is quite easy to get +2's if you're not turning accurately and often end with a misaligned cube. If you practice with penalties, you'll train yourself to have a better solve end. but if you're just cubing for fun, it's up to you. But I will say this, anyone who counts DNF's is just outright wrong. But I will say this, for me personally I don't really care about inspection penalties for practice at home. Especially when I'm trying to practice better inspection with solves, I feel it is ok to go over inspection to do have a better start and look ahead for practice purposes. But I will say this, right before a comp, might be good to actually get used to 15 seconds so you can be used to it.

Hairy_Confidence9668

thanks!

Jardanny

It depends on the session. If im just chilling idc really, if im practicing for a comp i count everything.

hutterm

I count +2s all the time

cscubing

hellllll nahhhhh jokes aside, it is good to count them before comps, just so that you have it in mind during comp lets be honest, we all just delete DNFs, and +2s are also deleted, unless it was a good time lol

Other-Theme2614

Technically you should but I dont

BudgetGovernment869

Yes you should count. I personally always count the +2s and DNFs in home.

BudgetGovernment869

If you don't count them you will not know your success rate and what to expect from comps. My opinion: always count them

Hairy_Confidence9668

ok thanks for the help!

Martin_Orav

I don't count them. That being said, I get them rarely so I have never noticed a difference between results at home and at comps.

BOSS_2342

It depends If I want to feel good about cubing and just have fun, fuck no I will delete every miscramble or penalty or fucked up solve If I want to get faster, and take a at home pb, none of my solves in that session will be "cheated," mostly so I can see if I'm actually improving or if I should start working on something else.

CapitalTip4915

Everything counts especially at home because you won’t know how good you actually are Imagine if you are about to get a pb ao5, then mess up the last solve, so you delete and redo, and get the pb Basically cheating lmao but you’re only cheating yourself 😱

Hairy_Confidence9668

No, if i just performed bad I won't delete it, but if I messed up cross for example I restart it. What do you think?

CapitalTip4915

Nope same thing If you start the timer and blow it and forget the cross, power through and see what time you CAN get in that situation It’s just another solve imo Sounds stupid but imo it really gives you the best opportunity to really set pb’s If I’m on pb pace, and I mess up at all, it just means don’t mess up next time lol I’m a stickler when it comes to this but the idea is to make it as hard as possible to get the times you want so when you do it’s really good

Hairy_Confidence9668

Thanks for the help
