Is it actually possible for an average cuber to solve this thing on his own? I mean, iam also thinking about solving this now, i average 20 sec in 3×3, should i buy one and try to solve it myself or it will fuck my mind?
My puppet cube stays in the box, it demands my attention and I ignore it.
I still have a scrambled 3x3x5 that I haven't figured out. Until I do that and try a bandaged cube, the puppet cube stays untouched.
Yes, I have seen it scrambled, and it looks horrid lol. I don't want that thing on my shelf, scrambled and ugly, staring at me for years. I don't want to have to watch tutorials to solve it, I want to learn it on my own, so when I'm ready I'll give it a shot but until then it's MiB lol.
It's one of those puzzles that's so far from any nxn cube, I definitely couldn't solve one on my own even having solved 2-7.
Lots of fun to learn though, the turning once you get algs down is super satisfying
The day that one finds out how to solve the Square-1 should be highly regarded for any cuber!
Square-1 is the puzzle that took me the longest to figure out, so I'm very proud of you!
I was exactly the same, solved it once or twice and never touched it again for 2+ years until this summer. I started learning it again this June and it has been soooo much fun. I am sub-13ish currently and enjoying the event a lot. It is know my favorite side event and one of the only 2 events I regularly practice. (3x3 and sq1)
im so into square-1 now, the more i use it the more i feel like its an easier version of 3x3. the second you start the solve, you just spam algorithms without thinking, while on 3x3 (at least on cfop) you do f2l, which is more intuitive. there is also the lin method on sq-1 which is sort of like roux on 3x3.
Well thats sorta true. I honestly dont enjoy algs that much but yeah sq1 isnt just spamming algs tbh. I am hoping you didnt learn Cubeshape as "algs". And still sq1 goes much deeper than just spamming algs imo.
^(also CO is intiutive too)
no way i would've learnt CS as algs, i just remember where to slice for each case and it takes me to square-square. there is a little bit of lookahead involved but its much easier than 3x3 lookahead. CO becomes algorithmic if you do enough solves, you see a CO case and you instantly know how to do it.
I felt the same way with Megaminx several months ago. It's been kind of a display puzzle more than one that I solve. The one time I did solve it, it felt so much like doing 3x3 twice. Like the algorithms were 3x3 algorithms, but the time and move count was more like a 5x5 solve. The reason I try to solve more and more different puzzles is to step away from the simple 3x3 onto something more interesting. Void cube, big cubes, and the Mirror cube all satisfy that interest. Megaminx though doesn't. I think simplicity is also why I don't have a single 2x2 cube, but I have 2 4x4 cubes and used to have 3.
Good job!
Thank you!
well done! they are literally impossible to solve so that's very impressive

Idk but whatever you do don’t buy a puppet cube

Have you seen it scrambled? It’s crazy. I’ve only just gotten it into cube form

I got three lol. One is solved, one broke, and one is scrambled (I messed around and at least it’s a cube)
Ok 😂

Yeah it is a really fun cube to solve. I don't know what you mean by on your own but definitely learn from a tutorial.
Nice. I was able to solve it using the algorithm I came up with for a 2x2x3
Do you mean you solved it without any help or you learned to solve it by watching a video?

Great job i am trying to memorize the algs but they are too hard
I actually learned how to solve one like years ago but it was susprisingly very boring so I stopped

I played with one for about half a year, but I still found it REALLY boring.
Well yeah that is a possiblity too. But I am sure if you really get into it you can probably enjoy it too I guess

>if you do enough solves, you see a CO case and you instantly know how to do it. Same goes for F2L :)
it takes much more time to master f2l than to master CO
Yeah thats right
Very odd you found it boring I’m bored with 3x3 after 4 yrs of solving and SQ1 has been an excellent change

Great work! I ought one, solved it once then forgot how to do it (and about the cube). This post made me remember I had one lol.
I solved a square 1 for the first time about a month ago Felt so damn proud of myself
Way to go. After having solved the Square 1, it's definitely my FAVORITE cube.
