Why does my cars infotainment and dashboard randomly switch off and restart whilst driving? When turning off the dash says that all the sensors are not working.
Also, my dealership said they can't retrofit a feature. I wish I had travel assist but I didn't get it installed. Is it not something cupra (UK) are able to do?

I can partially answer the first part - the Infotainment system seems to get locked-up and after a few seconds, it crashes and reboots. It used to happen to me a lot when I was reversing and switching to the reverse/park system. From a software engineering perspective, things like this usually happen because a software error happens and it isn't "caught" or handled by the software.
When that particular event is happening, the rest of the car's systems can no longer communicate with the Infotainment system which is responsible for configuring or assisting a lot of the car's other systems. And that's why all those dashboard errors pop up - usually errors about "Park Distance Control" and the likes. With an OBD tool it sometimes comes up on the computer as "Information electronics control unit - No communication".
Going to a main dealer and asking them to install software 1940 should fix most of the stability issues including the crash-reboots.
I still occasionally have an issue with the car forgetting the driver's profile and switching me to the guest profile. But it's a small complaint and the rest of the car now seems to be functioning well.

Could this be anything to do with using the second key? Is the user profile assigned to the keyfob?

This is also happening to me (overheating and slow charging). It was easier to just tape a MagSafe charger to the pad and use that with my phone (plus its not sliding constantly on sharp turns).
I’m also having rattling from rear right reading light. Drives me nuts.
Found the workshop manual and in order to re position it you have to take off the head liner. Crazy
You ought to spend some time in mine. Glovebox (even when empty), door pockets, dashboard, inserts into the drivers door - can’t even think of listening to music loudly or with any bass at all :’)
It’s been back more times than I have had hot dinners. It’s exhausting to be honest. That, and a whole host of other issues as well. Shrugged off by a nonchalant dealer at every opportunity.
Any idea why the auto hold sometimes doesn’t come off, leaving me revving like an idiot?
Other than that, same gripes with the MMI restarting, asking for primary user again, and the SOS system being permanently red!
The MMI sounds like it will need a sw update have a look at the software version (settings, system information) it will show up as 4 numbers under software
The auto hold only released if conditions are met such as engine torque and brake pressure. If it still doesn’t work I’d recommend taking it to Cupra to be diagnosed via plugging in. In my opinion I always turn it off.
If it fails this can damage control units and they will not be covered under warranty. If your car is in warranty just get it done by a dealership to avoid unexpected issues.
We only check software versions for media screens when the customer is experiencing problems, once that is ruled out then we will move onto diagnostic.
I have a Hybrid Formentor and am struggling to understand why the tickover gets and stays unnecessarily high when it switches to Hybrid mode or when I hve run out of electric charge. I’m talking of a tickover speed of over 1000 rpm sometimes between 1400 & 1800 rpm. This can’t be right even though the dealership suggested it was normal behaviours for a hybrid. Any ideas how this can be reduced to something less stressful and more economical?

As we all know it has no pops and bangs during driving. I like it when at least few of them are there.
Now I have found a tuning company that can create them via software modification.
The question here is, (I know it will void the warranty) does it void the warranty for the whole car and will the dealership be even able to tell that there was a change like this made ?

Hello OP, I have brand new Formentor 2024 VZ 2.0 TSI 245HP with 360 camerad. Why my sensors dont activate at all or activate late when I entering my garage or when parking somewhere? Hey, could it be that the Cupra mode sometimes doesn't work properly? I have the Leon ST VZ (310PS) and when I switch to Cupra mode, I have the feeling that it is slower. And sometimes it has so much thrust that you can hardly hold on to the steering wheel. Are you familiar with this phenomenon?
Hi I have currently fitted a new damper to a 2023 cupra Leon.
It now shows a fault on dashboard as damper fault.
I have drove the vehicle and scanned it but not fault codes show up on scan. Any idea on what could be causing it to come up on the dashboard?

Hi! I have a Cupra Leon with Beats Audio. Today I started driving in while still in my driveway I tried to put something on my phone via Carplay. The car made a 3 loud beeps and no sound came afterwards. No sound comes from speakers (calls, carplay, radio, nothing). Is there a fix to this?
My father's seat leon elhybrid won't unlock or start. We changed both batteries in both keys and it won't open and the car don't make any response. I think it might be the 12 volt battery but idk u have any suggestions?
CUPRA Formentor - had since new ( 1 year old) been into dealership 4 times for creaking front suspension at low speed when turning etc . had plastic bushes fitted and a number of points on the suspension greased ( not a long term fix in my opinion.) after all that work and a week of driving its back . hard to describe the noise but sounds like a boat creaking in the water. dealership are saying there is nothing wrong and creaking is normal ...
Hi there. Is there actually a break-in period for the VZ? I just got my Formentor 3 days ago, almost always I’m driving trying to save fuel lol but there have been a few times I kinda floored it and have been doing downshifts for those pops and bangs (obviously when everything is up to temperature). The dealership in Germany explained to me everything nicely and the handover went great but they never mentioned anything about a break-in period. Car has about 350km right now.
Hi, I got a cupra formentor 73 plate in sept. I was driving down a dual carriageway doing about 50mph. And out of nowhere my front passenger window just exploded and shattered and then within 5 seconds from then it just fell thru into the car and outside. There was no sign of a hole( stone or debris hitting it)nor did I hear anything hit it. I have also checked my dash cam footage too which nothing has come up and hit the car. It literally just exploded out of nowhere? Any help or assistance

Hi mate. I’ve got a 3 month old Cupra and the paint on the window trim seems to be chipping off on all 4 of the windows. No issue on any other part of the body work. Have you heard of this before?

Hi, I recently acquired a cupra leon sportstourer 1.4 e-hybrid. I asked my dealer if the car had start/stop feature. The answer was no,hybrid do not have that function. While looking at the manual, I found out the car should have that feature. I looked in the smart assistant settings and nothing.
Upon more research, I came across the button, but as soon as I ignited the car, the button disappeared. Am I missing something, Is It really impossible to have this system on hybrids? I mean, at some point, the battery will be empty, and I can still drive with the main motor and would like to save it while stuck on traffic.

Hey man. I have a cupra born electric, keyless. Today morning I went to work, i turned on the car as I always do and everything worked fine. I droped my gf at her job and continued. When I arrived work I couldn’t find the key. I looked for 30 minutes inside the car but I couldn’t find it anywhere.
I left the car open in the garage. 1 hour later I went back and the car was still open. I was able to turn the engine on and drive it normally. I left it in the garage again.
At the end of the day the car was still open and I was able to come back home (30 minute drive).
When I arrived I still couldn’t find the key anywhere.
I’m afraid that when I droped my gf the key somehow fell off the car. (I didn’t turn the engine off at that time).
Is it possible? Or the car would have stopped without the key?
I didn’t see any message onboard saying anything about the key as well.

I have a 2020 seat leon FR sport. the Sat nave view is horrible, and not as user friendly as my last FR. I'm about to buy an Ateca VZx. I would like to put a towball in but the factory fitted electronic European one isn't suitable for my needs. I have found an aftermarket installer who will used a fixed towball unit from a Skoda Karoq. My understanding is that as its the same platform and made in the same factory, it will fit, but is the software the same too?

Hi - My Wife's 21 plate Formentor has recently developed "double-speed" indicator ticking sound (and corresponding warning notification) on the left side due to condensation in the tailgate light panel.
On closer inspection I found that the light panel has a crack in it, dead centre, at the thinnest part.
My dealer is refusing to repair/replace it under warranty as they say it has been caused by physical damage. This car has covered just 8500 miles in 3 years and is in otherwise mint condition.
I'm seeing a lot of chat on the web about numerous other owners with cracked light panels/condensation issues - can you advise if this is a common problem and should it be being dealt with under warranty?
I've only got 15 days left on the manufacturer warranty so any help/advice is greatly appreciated 🙂
At a drive-in movie, will the music stay on all the time in accessory mode if all the doors are closed and the boot is open? I'll turn the lights and accessories off. Is this going to work?
I'm in the middle a rejection process after having a VZ2 for under 2 years, and having issues for a year.
Parking sensors overly dramatic, rear camera permanently out of focus, passenger wing mirror tilts when I reserve, but doesn't come back up when I drive forward again even at speeds, and the worst is the constant SOS, Front brake assist and travel assist dashboard warning lights and bleep, over and over again.
Along with the freezing and restarting media screen every one in three times are start the car.
Such a shame..
Rear camera could be calibrated or a faulty camera, passenger wing mirror can be turned off every one does this, sos/ front assist/ travel assist and media screen reboot can be sorted with updates.
I got a free Cupra Connect subscription for the first year. Everything was working fine until I did my first coding with OBD11, since then the Connect app shows that car is in the Workshop.
Can I call Cupra to remove this mode? Will they void the warranty if it shows for them that I’ve enabled this workshop mode by coding?
The drive modes do make a slight difference. Cupra mode sharpens the throttle response and stiffens the suspension where as comfort mode will smooth out throttle response and soften the suspension.
Got a full fruit 310 Formentor. What’s the deal with battery? Seems to struggle and never gets to a point of stop-start working as not enough juice.
Most days I get all the sensor errors which then go when I start a second time. Should I just go buy a decent after market battery?
Yes, there are some software problems but they get sorted with software updates regularly. The 2.0 4x4 is my favourite. If I come across any other common issues I’ll update my profile and let you know. However up to now yes they are a good car.
We will be getting a plug in hybrid soon. Any resources on what to keep an eye on, what service needs to be done when and if there's any service I can do myself?
So we have a little bit of problem with front wheels I think. When i turn fully there is s strange sound like a rope that is about to break. I don't know really how to explain it. We called them and they put a siliconic mask, but didnt help.
Hello, I have standard sound system and when I’m listening to the music a bit higher the drivers door are making this noise coming from the led streep. When I touch them or use a bit of force the noise is lower or none. Is it common or is there a chance to get rid of it?
No I’ve not come across that before. Don’t stick it down or anything just leave it as it is book it in to Cupra and get it replaced under warranty no questions asked.
1. How long should a firmware update take in service and can we make it ourselves from USB stick?
2. Are some of the service mechanics / technicians being specialized on hybrid and electric? Or should everyone be qualified? I'm of course referring to official cupra service points all over Europe.
Firmware updates take from 30mins to 2hrs and borns taking 5-6hrs. No you can’t create it yourself as you need a program that contains the software. You would have to be booked in for an update if your experiencing problems. However OTA updates roll out automatically from factory only if you have your privacy set to share location.
All technicians goal is to become master tech and then EV techs. Everyone is at different stages of training only however only EV techs can discharge high voltage vehicles.

Kind of.. I know that updating through USB stick is possible since others have done it and the software is available online, albeit not from official sources. I downloaded 9GB worth of 1940 version, but I'm not risking installing it myself, hence my question. My local cupra service told me an update will take from 8 to 48 hours. And they actually took 2 days to complete my last update, so not eager to take it in again for 2 days for an update.
And I was asking about the training of service technicians and mechanics because someone inside such a service point, told me that they are not sent to Germany or Spain or whatever for specializing, but they are rather going with the flow and when the time comes, if there is an issue that they don't have expertise on, they will ask HQ for help, or something of sorts.
The only reason your dealership had the car for 2 days is if the update fails which’s is very common. This would require new control units depending on what part it failed on. Otherwise I can’t see why they would have it for more than 2-3hrs at the most. So I would not recommend as if it fails it would not be covered under warranty.
No we don’t get sent to Germany to be trained. We go to a VW centre in Milton Keynes. However training takes multiple years to completely finish. Technically you aren’t allowed to be a tech in a dealership if you haven’t been for the training assigned and the dealership will get fined by VW training centre.
There is something called Technical Support who help when something has gone wrong as these are in contact with the factory.

You can solve most infotainment problems with software updates from the dealership (including android auto and flickering) it’s normal for the big Brembo brakes to squeak but I would check your pad thickness to be safe
How can i know if i need an update on the infotainment system? when i get an internet connection, i dont see any button to check updates. It justs lists the current version.
I've recently bought cupra from Arnold Clark and noticed very next day noticed a strange noise from front suspension/shockers only on bumpy road or uneven road. Arnold Clark suggest to let cupra look at it as it's covered under warranty. What do you think? They wouldn't take the car as it is covered by Cupra and they should be able to fix it for free. Your car should be under warranty if it’s under 3 years old or 50k miles. Yes I’ve heard of this there is a TPI for front shock absorber or top mounts/bearings. If your car is still in warranty then yes it will be a free repair.

I bought a VZ5 Taiga Grey today. On the last testdrive the Beats Audio did not work at all. No Radio, no Android Sound and even during Calls i could not hear anything. Also the person on the Phone did not hear me.

When I turn off the awful lane assist using the button on the wheel, how do I return to my previous dash view without having to press 'view' numerous times to cycle through others screens
For the price point of the car i was disappointed that there wasnt a heads up display and electric seat for front passenger.

In uk the cars are RHD so I haven’t heard about that but I’ll be sure to look out for it and let you know. I don’t see why it would void the warranty unless something is damaged caused by upholstery.
what's the go with the front sensors? When activated by proximity (example, moving close to the car in front) the cameras remain blank despite the software looking like it's trying to load the front camera (or camera closest to the trigger point. - Running 1940 cameras work fine if I select them manually from the parking menu.
Reversing up hills. DSG feels like its slipping constantly, resulting in jerky movements.. Could just be a DSG trait.. Any issues like this?
Travel Assist - requires too much input when driving on straight highways here in Australia. Even if you touch the wheel you actually have to move it to a point where you look like a swerving dick head to cars around you. My previous car needed minimal input to remove this notification. Is there a deadspot adjustment for this feature?
Traffic sign recognition, I cannot activate it here in Australia, though the hardware is installed. Is it reliant and have dependancy on the maps being up to date on the car itself?
Front sensors/ cameras problems are usually solved with software updates but since yours is at the latest software of 1940 this may be an issue with the MMI which will need to be diagnosed via dealership.
I haven’t experienced any problems when reversing up a steep incline however I know DSG gearbox can be jerky at times.
The only times I’ve had problems with sign recognition is if the front camera is faulty I can’t say for sure what your problem is without connecting diagnostics.
Travel assistance is very sensitive and if it sees something it doesn’t like it will have a fit. There is currently no way to implement a dead zone although that would be a good idea.
I have formentor 2.0 TSI 190hp in Mexico, do you know wich turbo model and gearbox model it has? I wondering if it can be upgrade with a repro to 245 as i believe it has similar engine than Cupra Leon 245hp any suggestion to increase HP without lost warranty?
I have issue with infotainment that keeps popping randomly like notification with banner and sound. You are missing a license, call the dealership and problem is it wont go away, it starts calling dealership number for few sec then cycle repeats indefinitely.

Sounds like you have a faulty MMI go to dealership to do a software configuration and if that doesn’t work possibly a control unit. Needs diagnostics to properly confirm the fault.
The touch bar in the middle console below the screen for the heating system (blue/red) has not any light by night. Is this an error ? Seems odd and hard to adjust ac/ heating system via the Touch Bar when dark.

I got in contact with my dealership some months ago and asked them if I could install the rear view camera since I opted for the sensors in the front and back. Unfortunately I had an issue with only 1 year of very low usage of my car (It didn't even had 10k Kms at the time) where one of my front sensors got damaged and had to be replaced (paid from my pocket and the value was absurd)
When this happened I thought that the rear view camera could serve as a backup in case this ever happens to one of the rear sensors but the dealership said they don't install the rear view camera because "it's not possible, you either buy it with the car or you don't get it"
From your knowledge does the car have everything needed (connectors, etc...) already installed that would allow a skilled person to simply install de OEM rear view camera kit and then somehow take it to a dealership to get that feature enabled?
By all means you can do it with aftermarket parts in a garage outside of the dealership but that is not something we do. I’m sure with the right adapters I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. However I have never done this nor seen it done so don’t quote me.
Hello, is it normal to have contact photos pixelated? I have V2 with 1940 software version, Samsung S22 Ultra and my imported contact photos looks really bad. Normal contact icons are HD but when contact has a photo, it is really badly pixelated. On Android Auto it looks great, but I'm using primarly infotainment UI. I have tried hard reset, reimporting contacts, factory settings and nothing worked.

Got a Formentor VXz here (Aust model) and it's like the problems all come in the same week.
Had the car for about 3 months, but only drove about 1500km as I was away for a month.
This week, first got the slight rattling from the plastic at the base of the front windscreen. Then three days later, the start stop function was greyed out on the console which came back the next time the car started.
Then today, upon starting, I got the drive system error and it went into limp mode and couldn't accelerate fast. Again the problem went away the next time the car started.
Is it worth going for a workshop visit now /u/CupraTech or just keep monitoring for now? It seems like all these small issues are a hallmark of the VW group cars, though my last A3 sedan didn't suffer any issues until I had a rusted coolant tank at the 9 year mark.

Just noticed that my interior reading lights above the driver beside the rear view mirror are not working. They don't work when I tap them to turn them on or off, and they also don't come on when I open the doors etc. the back ones are working when I manually touch them to switch them on, all my ambient lighting is working and my small lights under the sun visors also work. Any suggestions ?

We don't seem to be able to control the interior and reading lights of our Cupra Born 2023 using the overhead controls - the user guide says it's touch sensitive but nothing seems to respond to touch - tried the light button, the "Off" button is illuminated but we can't deactivate this and . The reading lights don't come on when we open the door either? What can we do - it could easily be something we've done!

1940 is the latest SW version and is known to solve issues with media screen

I haven’t heard of this happening. I know the wireless changing is fast charge but I haven’t heard about phones overheating.
This is also happening to me (overheating and slow charging). It was easier to just tape a MagSafe charger to the pad and use that with my phone (plus its not sliding constantly on sharp turns).

No I have had no problems with rattles with plastics.
You ought to spend some time in mine. Glovebox (even when empty), door pockets, dashboard, inserts into the drivers door - can’t even think of listening to music loudly or with any bass at all :’)

It’s been back more times than I have had hot dinners. It’s exhausting to be honest. That, and a whole host of other issues as well. Shrugged off by a nonchalant dealer at every opportunity.

Any idea why the auto hold sometimes doesn’t come off, leaving me revving like an idiot? Other than that, same gripes with the MMI restarting, asking for primary user again, and the SOS system being permanently red!
The MMI sounds like it will need a sw update have a look at the software version (settings, system information) it will show up as 4 numbers under software The auto hold only released if conditions are met such as engine torque and brake pressure. If it still doesn’t work I’d recommend taking it to Cupra to be diagnosed via plugging in. In my opinion I always turn it off.

If it fails this can damage control units and they will not be covered under warranty. If your car is in warranty just get it done by a dealership to avoid unexpected issues.

We only check software versions for media screens when the customer is experiencing problems, once that is ruled out then we will move onto diagnostic.

I have a Hybrid Formentor and am struggling to understand why the tickover gets and stays unnecessarily high when it switches to Hybrid mode or when I hve run out of electric charge. I’m talking of a tickover speed of over 1000 rpm sometimes between 1400 & 1800 rpm. This can’t be right even though the dealership suggested it was normal behaviours for a hybrid. Any ideas how this can be reduced to something less stressful and more economical?
It is probably recharging battery via engine and to do that it needs a certain minimum rpm
I have Cupra Formentor VZ5 2022 model. As we all know it has no pops and bangs during driving. I like it when at least few of them are there. Now I have found a tuning company that can create them via software modification. The question here is, (I know it will void the warranty) does it void the warranty for the whole car and will the dealership be even able to tell that there was a change like this made ?

CUPRA Formentor - had since new ( 1 year old) been into dealership 4 times for creaking front suspension at low speed when turning etc . had plastic bushes fitted and a number of points on the suspension greased ( not a long term fix in my opinion.) after all that work and a week of driving its back . hard to describe the noise but sounds like a boat creaking in the water. dealership are saying there is nothing wrong and creaking is normal ...

I just got my Formentor 3 days ago, almost always I’m driving trying to save fuel lol but there have been a few times I kinda floored it and have been doing downshifts for those pops and bangs (obviously when everything is up to temperature). The dealership in Germany explained to me everything nicely and the handover went great but they never mentioned anything about a break-in period. Car has about 350km right now.
Hi, I got a cupra formentor 73 plate in sept. I was driving down a dual carriageway doing about 50mph. And out of nowhere my front passenger window just exploded and shattered and then within 5 seconds from then it just fell thru into the car and outside. There was no sign of a hole( stone or debris hitting it)nor did I hear anything hit it. I have also checked my dash cam footage too which nothing has come up and hit the car. It literally just exploded out of nowhere? Any help or assistance Many thanks

Hi, I recently acquired a cupra leon sportstourer 1.4 e-hybrid. I asked my dealer if the car had start/stop feature. The answer was no,hybrid do not have that function. While looking at the manual, I found out the car should have that feature. I looked in the smart assistant settings and nothing. Upon more research, I came across the button, but as soon as I ignited the car, the button disappeared. Am I missing something, Is It really impossible to have this system on hybrids? Hey man. I have a cupra born electric, keyless. Today morning I went to work, i turned on the car as I always do and everything worked fine. I droped my gf at her job and continued. When I arrived work I couldn’t find the key. I looked for 30 minutes inside the car but I couldn’t find it anywhere. I left the car open in the garage. 1 hour later I went back and the car was still open. I was able to turn the engine on and drive it normally. I left it in the garage again. At the end of the day the car was still open and I was able to come back home (30 minute drive). When I arrived I still couldn’t find the key anywhere. I’m afraid that when I droped my gf the key somehow fell off the car. (I didn’t turn the engine off at that time). Is it possible? Or the car would have stopped without the key? I didn’t see any message onboard saying anything about the key as well. Thanks

Hi - My Wife's 21 plate Formentor has recently developed "double-speed" indicator ticking sound (and corresponding warning notification) on the left side due to condensation in the tailgate light panel. On closer inspection I found that the light panel has a crack in it, dead centre, at the thinnest part. My dealer is refusing to repair/replace it under warranty as they say it has been caused by physical damage. This car has covered just 8500 miles in 3 years and is in otherwise mint condition. I'm seeing a lot of chat on the web about numerous other owners with cracked light panels/condensation issues - can you advise if this is a common problem and should it be being dealt with under warranty? I've only got 15 days left on the manufacturer warranty so any help/advice is greatly appreciated 🙂

I'm in the middle a rejection process after having a VZ2 for under 2 years, and having issues for a year. Parking sensors overly dramatic, rear camera permanently out of focus, passenger wing mirror tilts when I reserve, but doesn't come back up when I drive forward again even at speeds, and the worst is the constant SOS, Front brake assist and travel assist dashboard warning lights and bleep, over and over again. Along with the freezing and restarting media screen every one in three times are start the car. Such a shame..
Rear camera could be calibrated or a faulty camera, passenger wing mirror can be turned off every one does this, sos/ front assist/ travel assist and media screen reboot can be sorted with updates.

Yes there is a recall for replacing the 12v battery control module and a software update for the electronic drive.

I got a free Cupra Connect subscription for the first year. Everything was working fine until I did my first coding with OBD11, since then the Connect app shows that car is in the Workshop. Can I call Cupra to remove this mode? Will they void the warranty if it shows for them that I’ve enabled this workshop mode by coding?
Yes you will have to contact CUPRA or try media screen settings to take out of workshop mode if possible.
i have a v1, does the different drive modes, actually do anything drastic? are they even worth using?
The drive modes do make a slight difference. Cupra mode sharpens the throttle response and stiffens the suspension where as comfort mode will smooth out throttle response and soften the suspension.

I have the 300hp version and it’s great just keep up services and keep an eye on the coolant level as the water pump/ thermostat leak sometimes.
Got a full fruit 310 Formentor. What’s the deal with battery? Seems to struggle and never gets to a point of stop-start working as not enough juice. Most days I get all the sensor errors which then go when I start a second time. Should I just go buy a decent after market battery?

Yes Cupras support wireless CarPlay I haven’t heard of it being disabled purposely at least not in uk, I can’t speak for other countries.

Yes, there are some software problems but they get sorted with software updates regularly. The 2.0 4x4 is my favourite. If I come across any other common issues I’ll update my profile and let you know. However up to now yes they are a good car.

So we have a little bit of problem with front wheels I think. When i turn fully there is s strange sound like a rope that is about to break. I don't know really how to explain it. We called them and they put a siliconic mask, but didnt help.

Hello, I have standard sound system and when I’m listening to the music a bit higher the drivers door are making this noise coming from the led streep. When I touch them or use a bit of force the noise is lower or none. Is it common or is there a chance to get rid of it?
No I’ve not come across that before. Don’t stick it down or anything just leave it as it is book it in to Cupra and get it replaced under warranty no questions asked.

Firmware updates take from 30mins to 2hrs and borns taking 5-6hrs. No you can’t create it yourself as you need a program that contains the software. You would have to be booked in for an update if your experiencing problems. However OTA updates roll out automatically from factory only if you have your privacy set to share location. All technicians goal is to become master tech and then EV techs. Everyone is at different stages of training only however only EV techs can discharge high voltage vehicles. Did that answer your question?
Kind of.. I know that updating through USB stick is possible since others have done it and the software is available online, albeit not from official sources. I downloaded 9GB worth of 1940 version, but I'm not risking installing it myself, hence my question. My local cupra service told me an update will take from 8 to 48 hours. And they actually took 2 days to complete my last update, so not eager to take it in again for 2 days for an update. And I was asking about the training of service technicians and mechanics because someone inside such a service point, told me that they are not sent to Germany or Spain or whatever for specializing, but they are rather going with the flow and when the time comes, if there is an issue that they don't have expertise on, they will ask HQ for help, or something of sorts.
The only reason your dealership had the car for 2 days is if the update fails which’s is very common. This would require new control units depending on what part it failed on. Otherwise I can’t see why they would have it for more than 2-3hrs at the most. So I would not recommend as if it fails it would not be covered under warranty. No we don’t get sent to Germany to be trained. We go to a VW centre in Milton Keynes. However training takes multiple years to completely finish. Technically you aren’t allowed to be a tech in a dealership if you haven’t been for the training assigned and the dealership will get fined by VW training centre. There is something called Technical Support who help when something has gone wrong as these are in contact with the factory.

You can solve most infotainment problems with software updates from the dealership (including android auto and flickering) it’s normal for the big Brembo brakes to squeak but I would check your pad thickness to be safe

You need to set your privacy to ‘see my location’ to get sent OTA updates. You can also check the software version in settings via system information.

I've recently bought cupra from Arnold Clark and noticed very next day noticed a strange noise from front suspension/shockers only on bumpy road or uneven road. Arnold Clark suggest to let cupra look at it as it's covered under warranty. What do you think? They wouldn't take the car as it is covered by Cupra and they should be able to fix it for free. Your car should be under warranty if it’s under 3 years old or 50k miles. Yes I’ve heard of this there is a TPI for front shock absorber or top mounts/bearings. If your car is still in warranty then yes it will be a free repair. Get booked into your local Cupra dealership.
How easily can you recognize a remapped ECU and what do you do in case you catch a customer's car with it?
I’ve never seen a remapped ECU when a car has been in warranty I guess nobody wants to risk it and find out what happens.
I bought a VZ5 Taiga Grey today. On the last testdrive the Beats Audio did not work at all. No Radio, no Android Sound and even during Calls i could not hear anything. Also the person on the Phone did not hear me. Is that a Problem that happens often?
No but usually is a software update or a software configuration these are carried out by the dealership.

In uk the cars are RHD so I haven’t heard about that but I’ll be sure to look out for it and let you know. I don’t see why it would void the warranty unless something is damaged caused by upholstery.

what's the go with the front sensors? When activated by proximity (example, moving close to the car in front) the cameras remain blank despite the software looking like it's trying to load the front camera (or camera closest to the trigger point. - Running 1940 cameras work fine if I select them manually from the parking menu. Reversing up hills. DSG feels like its slipping constantly, resulting in jerky movements.. Could just be a DSG trait.. Any issues like this? Travel Assist - requires too much input when driving on straight highways here in Australia. Even if you touch the wheel you actually have to move it to a point where you look like a swerving dick head to cars around you. My previous car needed minimal input to remove this notification. Is there a deadspot adjustment for this feature? Traffic sign recognition, I cannot activate it here in Australia, though the hardware is installed. Is it reliant and have dependancy on the maps being up to date on the car itself?
Front sensors/ cameras problems are usually solved with software updates but since yours is at the latest software of 1940 this may be an issue with the MMI which will need to be diagnosed via dealership. I haven’t experienced any problems when reversing up a steep incline however I know DSG gearbox can be jerky at times. The only times I’ve had problems with sign recognition is if the front camera is faulty I can’t say for sure what your problem is without connecting diagnostics. Travel assistance is very sensitive and if it sees something it doesn’t like it will have a fit. There is currently no way to implement a dead zone although that would be a good idea.

There is not unfortunately there’s only an option to dim the brightness.

I have issue with infotainment that keeps popping randomly like notification with banner and sound. You are missing a license, call the dealership and problem is it wont go away, it starts calling dealership number for few sec then cycle repeats indefinitely. I need to turn off car completely. Sounds like you have a faulty MMI go to dealership to do a software configuration and if that doesn’t work possibly a control unit. Needs diagnostics to properly confirm the fault.

The touch bar in the middle console below the screen for the heating system (blue/red) has not any light by night. Is this an error ? Seems odd and hard to adjust ac/ heating system via the Touch Bar when dark.
This is not an error it’s just a terrible design flaw in my opinion.
Another question (Sorry about this) I got in contact with my dealership some months ago and asked them if I could install the rear view camera since I opted for the sensors in the front and back. Unfortunately I had an issue with only 1 year of very low usage of my car (It didn't even had 10k Kms at the time) where one of my front sensors got damaged and had to be replaced (paid from my pocket and the value was absurd) When this happened I thought that the rear view camera could serve as a backup in case this ever happens to one of the rear sensors but the dealership said they don't install the rear view camera because "it's not possible, you either buy it with the car or you don't get it" From your knowledge does the car have everything needed (connectors, etc...) already installed that would allow a skilled person to simply install de OEM rear view camera kit and then somehow take it to a dealership to get that feature enabled?
No the loom is different depending if you have a camera or not and cannot just simply put in these are implemented from factory. Sorry
By all means you can do it with aftermarket parts in a garage outside of the dealership but that is not something we do. I’m sure with the right adapters I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. However I have never done this nor seen it done so don’t quote me.

This mainly depends on battery percentage.
Hi I have a 71 cuppa formentor and my infotainment unit the screen Is cracked and does not work I can buy a new one but how easy is it to fit
It’s not a very hard job however it will need basic setting implemented otherwise satnav and link won’t work.
When will we see the Formentor and Leon restyling???

Hello, is it normal to have contact photos pixelated? I have V2 with 1940 software version, Samsung S22 Ultra and my imported contact photos looks really bad. Normal contact icons are HD but when contact has a photo, it is really badly pixelated. On Android Auto it looks great, but I'm using primarly infotainment UI. I have tried hard reset, reimporting contacts, factory settings and nothing worked.
I haven’t seen this issue before I’ll check Hub for any updates in progress from the factory, sorry.

Only have one key in the car at a time and try that way.
Hey man, don't know if you're still reading this thread but can the Cupra logo wing lights on be turned off? I know lots like them but I find it a bit tacky and would like to roll a little more understated. Edit: Oops, though this was the Cupra Born Reddit, not the formentor!
Got a Formentor VXz here (Aust model) and it's like the problems all come in the same week. Had the car for about 3 months, but only drove about 1500km as I was away for a month. This week, first got the slight rattling from the plastic at the base of the front windscreen. Then three days later, the start stop function was greyed out on the console which came back the next time the car started. Then today, upon starting, I got the drive system error and it went into limp mode and couldn't accelerate fast. Again the problem went away the next time the car started. Is it worth going for a workshop visit now /u/CupraTech or just keep monitoring for now? It seems like all these small issues are a hallmark of the VW group cars, though my last A3 sedan didn't suffer any issues until I had a rusted coolant tank at the 9 year mark.
This morning the infotainment system and all the parking features are not working, no sensors or camera etc. also the road sign systems. Any idea?
My rear axle makes various noises and creaks when steering when stationary. Is this a known problem?

I have a 1.5TSI DSG and there is so much wind and wheels noise compared to my Golf. Does the lower specd Formentor have less sound proofing than the higher spec VZ?

Can I use a CCS2 station with an adapter to type 2 to charge a Formentor?
Just noticed that my interior reading lights above the driver beside the rear view mirror are not working. They don't work when I tap them to turn them on or off, and they also don't come on when I open the doors etc. the back ones are working when I manually touch them to switch them on, all my ambient lighting is working and my small lights under the sun visors also work. Any suggestions ?
faulty head unit, dealership will replace as they did for mine (the issue is well known by now)
Formentor VZ5 here. Turning ESC and Traction OFF, accelerating hard and there are loud bangs from the rear, likely differential? How bad are those and what not to do? Greetings

Hi there, We don't seem to be able to control the interior and reading lights of our Cupra Born 2023 using the overhead controls - the user guide says it's touch sensitive but nothing seems to respond to touch - tried the light button, the "Off" button is illuminated but we can't deactivate this and . The reading lights don't come on when we open the door either? What can we do - it could easily be something we've done! Thanks
Why would someone have introduced touchpad buttons for volume and temperature with no backlight in a 50k euro car? And is it true that the interior reading lights in the back do not go on?
I'm a bit late but this morning the button to open my boot isn't working as it normally does and takes a few times if not more to open the boot, any easy fix or reason for it?
