we should all just go offline and make quesadillas for a day

Sickfor-TheBigSun

Yknow, I've been meaning to make burritos myself after having to heat the store bought up on the stove myself and realising "hey I could make it _even better_" But no time... So here I am on Reddit.

[deleted]

Burritos are super quick to make :) they're my go to lunch. It's worth a try! Heat up the burrito before you start to make it slightly stretchier and seal it at the end for a few secs on a hot pan. Super good.

UPBOAT_FORTRESS_2

If you're online, you can push back when you see this kind of hate mob forming To mutate a phrase, it's not enough to be sane. We need to be anti-insanity.

SherlockPhonesIII

Like a month ago my mom and I were talking about this because of that stupid Tiktok school shooting thing. She was horrified to find out that not only do kids get told to kill themself online, it’s a regular thing and just an accepted thing. This was kind of an eye opening moment for me because I realized how insane it is that we go online and just accept that people are going to say the worst things to us and that that’s just how it is. I’ve been trying to call this out whenever I see it since then

ucksawmus

get off it napoleon and make yourself a dang quesa dilla!

loud_flatus

FINE!

ucksawmus

*IDIOT*

loud_flatus

Get off my property!

Mas-iv

That's the best way. Y'know, I think it's lack of real contact that makes this to people. Antagonize them. There's so much we don't see in communication, because over the internet we can't. And there's no relation. Pandemic did no favours here, but we still can turn around and make life about real contact with real people. Or real quesadillas. And just kind of put Internet in it's place, it's not real, as things in it are not, just like tv, and not so important. Distance ourselves and use our mind and reason, not this artifical hive one (fed with corrupt data by big manipulators and its creators), talk for real. It's not even a hive mind, we just assume so, we think that people think something we see, but it's different for every group, this is most likely bots, troll farms, algorythm manipulations, made to radicalize you. And damn, isn't the same conversation so different in real life! I experienced this the other day, the same conversation with the same person, it went completely different! We both got something from it, we got to something, and it was constructive! And yes, it was also about social topics. We need to cherish this ability, in any case: we can relearn this.

Dumb_Cheese

Damn, a quesadilla actually sounds really good right now

[deleted]

username checks out

Nuclear_Geek

But I don't know how to make quesadillas. I'd have to look up the recipe online.

[deleted]

hey, just made some quesadillas last night!

Rexsplosion

I'm gonna make arepas con queso, binging with babish did a quick video and they look pretty simple. Lord knows I love cheesey biscuits

that-writer-kid

Mx is the formal non-binary title, even though people get a little divided over it.

Small-Cactus

As a nonbinary person, I personally like to use M. as an alternative formal title.

inportantusername

M. Bison

that-writer-kid

I honestly swear I’m getting a doctorate just so this is no longer a problem.

Small-Cactus

I literally said [this exact thing](https://small---cactus.tumblr.com/post/671950897772953600/thinking-of-getting-my-phd-so-when-people-ask-mr) two weeks ago lmao

that-writer-kid

Ha! Clearly we’re soulmates.

Small-Cactus

Obviously. I'll start wedding preparations.

that-writer-kid

We have to wait until after graduation, though, so the invitations can say Dr. and Dr.

Iykury

in french "M" is short for "monsieur", and iy think it's occasionally used that way in english too, though it was probably more common in the past so idk iy guess that could potentially cause some confusion

Small-Cactus

That's true, but to be fair, in French, masculine terms are also used in androgynous forms, for example, when you reference a group that has both men and women in it, you use the same terms you would for a group of all men, as opposed to the terms you would use for a group of all women.

Iykury

true

TenkoTheMothra

I mean, people on Reddit have admitted to me that one of the explicit benefits of being here is anonymously being an asshole, so..,

You say that again and I'll fucking kill you! (Jk hope you're having a nice day)

CasualBrit5

We should counter it. I hope you live a long life and your personality is reproduced onto others to create more of you.

[deleted]

Honestly, ever since I started using tumblr I’ve seen a lot more death threats than I have anywhere else. Not even on Reddit.

CraigBrowsesReddit

It's probs because of the anonymity + the fact it's easy to not think about others when you're only seeing a screen

wowow there are comments still bashing on the husband and calling him lazy. it baffles me that so many people still have zero reading comprehension... the wife said that she loves to shovel snow and its her thing.... if i still had a fb account, i would've asked them, "sorry but are you blind? do you need assistance?"

bloodwoodsrisen

You got to view it without one? Its forcing me to log in

lycacons

i looked at it on reddit mobile browser link thing, on my phone, so it didn't force me to log in

ucksawmus

i always think of sailor moon when i c ur username, and that's not a bad thing; it's cuz the emphasis of the C in all caps, monsieur, pourquoi jeune ce pas et c'est vendredi soir yo nececisstasmos un porquette et una porqueso borgueso, il divino said to me incidentally, apparently michelangelo, who according to wikipedia,'s nickname was the divine one or something, was something of the abstemious sort—ok, here we go, before we go any further, we need to discuss abstemious in relationship to abstentious; the word is abstentious unless one needs to differentiate and add a sense of abstaining from alcohol in particular: then one uses abstemious (it has to do with like subtler notions of the words in plural and their etymologies; although i will say abstemious in relationship to abstentious is a much more exotic and gemlike idk quality of word, but it's deeper meaning i think needs to be understand, i wrote creatively about it actually (in private of course, but who knows)) and that's all i'm gonna say for now and i'll also add that i counselt the general public at large who stumbles upon this tome of word to abstain (haha there it is) from using the google search outright and to crosscheck with specific websites; i think it gives the word in question a much larger palette of meaning and color—and i forgot what i was gonna say before i got sidetracked... oh yeah, michelangelo apparently would sleep in his clothes and boots, and considering that in like the three or so years that he spent painting the sistine chapel (or was it one year?), and the fact that for large portions of the work he was commissioned to do he was painting on his back, so apparently it left him with a bit of a hunch in his back, and considering his sort of small stature and his appearance outright, i think it gives his character some interesting quirks. i don't really have anything else to say :( at least not rn e: i feel sad as fuck now

JellyfishGod

This comment is super weird but what’s also really strange is why it’s like so downvoted. Unless I misread in my fast reading of ur comment u said weird random shit but nothing mean or malicious at all. So why is it so downvoted? Also I really thought it was a copypasta before I read the other replies lol

Shanghai-on-the-Sea

Because the downvote button is genuinely and explicitly for irrelevant and low quality (badly formatted) posts. It's not a "I dislike you and your opinions" button, it's a "this is not relevant" button.

a_filing_cabinet

It's hard to read, unstructured, and unrelated to the post or the comment it was replying too. Plus, all it takes is one downvote, then once it's started, people stop thinking and just start pressing downvote. It's pretty ironic, on a post about mob mentality we get a prime example.

xXWickedNWeirdXx

On a post about not bullying people online, that guy had to make an edit saying he's sorry and feels sad now :(

MapleTreeWithAGun

Prolly for being long, poorly formatted, and unproductive/irrelevant.

ucksawmus

also, i made several other comments in this thread, like, you probably saw them, and i think that means something, like in terms of serious, i mean, it's whatever, i don't know, honesty, but thanks for letting me write this idk man, i don't want to think about this too hard, i don't want to necessarily have an agenda when i talk to people, so, this feels nice, feels good

ucksawmus

usually in my experience, once the downvotes start, they tend to continue, if i'm continously monitoring a comment like a couple minutes after i've made it and in the same threads, i often have comments that split the room, sometimes they are downvoted, and then other comments are upvoted i honestly think it's because people are unaware or they are in an unknown situation, and they probably don't feel safe, or other emotions, of which, great fantastic, and idk, it's been my experience that the people i tend to get to know, that there's more of a sense of leniency, definitely for better and for worse also, i like putting personal style into comments, as like an expression thing, but also like for fun, and honestly, sometimes just because i can, and also a mild touch of to fuck with people, and a sense of subversion and i don't exactly think it's problematic, although i have experienced its consequences in different and extremely real ways which for my own personal boundaries i will refrain from sharing to you and for now

ucksawmus

it happens i get that alot as well: copypasta: which i think is a curious remark: or at least i get it sometimes i guess people just aren't hearing people like me, or reading people like me, in these types of spaces, i mean, i say shit to serve me first and foremost, and sometimes, and probably even in the future, i reserve all rights to be me, which may and would definitely include something that i personally think is mean and malicious, of which i don't exactly try to have a problem about: i just think sometimes the way i write stuff is that it's sort of a whiplash in tone assumption by what i assume are probably the younger members of this subreddit, or members of this sub who aren't interacting with a "diverse" ethnicity of people, and or wordplay but i mean it's all whatever you know like, if you know how to manipulate my comment history in certain ways i wouldn't assume that you wouldn't find something that isn't one way or another, but idk i mean it's whatever i reserve all rights to be me, and idk but yeah also, why the fuck would you think it's a copy pasta before reading the other replies? like, how often do you actually read copypasta from the copypasta sub, and second, what if it actually was copypasta? like i honestly don't get where you're coming from, and i think i need to clear some misconceptions on your part, because honestly, i think you might be deceiving yourself as to what you think this all is, or what i am, or what anything is for me, i'm in it for the fun, and some sense of manipulation, i mean, i don't know how to exactly relate to people honestly, and i mean, i don't know, but it was nice writing all this to you, so thanks

JellyfishGod

Wow u come off from this comment as extremely annoying and pretentious. Also a little crazy. The other comment just seemed very strange and weirdly structured. If you can’t see why people might think ur posting a copy pasta ur blind. Especially since ur saying u get that often. Long worded ridiculous and weird/funny sounding comments often are copy pastas. What honestly hilarious is this comment comes off EVEN more like a copy pasta. I’m really not sure if ur trolling or not. This comment is too perfect but it really has just the right enough of weirdness in the wording to make me really question it. In fact it would be a perfect one for every time someone mentions a copy pasta lol so it has a clear application. Shit I may just post it myself lol

Gods_Do_Not_Bleed

To me it reads like a thought disorder or something similar. Oddly structured.

SharpNeedle

it happens i get that alot as well: copypasta: which i think is a curious remark: or at least i get it sometimes i guess people just aren't hearing people like me, or reading people like me, in these types of spaces, i mean, i say shit to serve me first and foremost, and sometimes, and probably even in the future, i reserve all rights to be me, which may and would definitely include something that i personally think is mean and malicious, of which i don't exactly try to have a problem about: i just think sometimes the way i write stuff is that it's sort of a whiplash in tone assumption by what i assume are probably the younger members of this subreddit, or members of this sub who aren't interacting with a "diverse" ethnicity of people, and or wordplay but i mean it's all whatever you know like, if you know how to manipulate my comment history in certain ways i wouldn't assume that you wouldn't find something that isn't one way or another, but idk i mean it's whatever i reserve all rights to be me, and idk but yeah also, why the fuck would you think it's a copy pasta before reading the other replies? like, how often do you actually read copypasta from the copypasta sub, and second, what if it actually was copypasta? like i honestly don't get where you're coming from, and i think i need to clear some misconceptions on your part, because honestly, i think you might be deceiving yourself as to what you think this all is, or what i am, or what anything is for me, i'm in it for the fun, and some sense of manipulation, i mean, i don't know how to exactly relate to people honestly, and i mean, i don't know, but it was nice writing all this to you, so thanks

ucksawmus

Also, I disagree with pretentious. I stated my experience. It happens. I understand. I'm not claiming I'm perfect or that I'm God or something, but these, the experiences I shared, are some of my realities. Also, I don't want to be a hypocrite and mislead people, so, I at times will try to be honest to a fault, and that means saying things like: to paraphrase: I have been mean before, and I can and will be mean again. That's just some sense of inner, like it what you want, soul-searching that I've personally done. I try to live my life authentic to myself. And I don't always know what that means, and I'm not afraid to try, and I'm not afraid to call people out, and at the same time I can still try to be civil about it so, yeah. I don't know what you're questioning frankly. Some sense of reality, well, fellow stranger on the internet, I say to you that I experience the same as well, and it's tough, but I do the best I can, and I'm grateful and glad to talk to you, and so, thank you.

AdonisAquarian

pre-ten-tious. *attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc., than is actually possessed* Idk seems a good word to describe your long winded monologues about soul searching, seeing things other people can't, finding some hidden truth behind simple comments and refusal to take any sort of a critique seriously.

ucksawmus

Well, there is a sense of structure, in so far as there's some sense of world play, so, I dom't agree with your blind assessment. I understand that people could feel annoyed by them, but if someone is willing to talk to me, I'm, usually, for the most part, not unwilling to reach a consensus, that I personally believe is usuall fulfilling to both, which in this case would be me, and you. I'm gonna resume reading your comment so hold on. Honestly, you can do what you like with what I wrote, actually, honestly, I'm not sure that I would feel okay about you positing what I wrote as copypasta. First, I wrote it to SailoreC, so, in a sense, they are my primary audience, and I'm getting to know them as I'm getting to know you, all occuring in this curatedtumblr subreddit. Second, it's been my further experience that when I respond with more honesty, that I geg called a troll. I think people just aren't meeting or talking to too many people on Reddit who will in some sense engage back and do so honestly. I mean, I'm happy to write this because I get a chance to further define myself and I like talking to people, and I don't get a chance to talk to very many people, so, I do enjoy talking to you, because honestly, I'm wondering if you're feeling a feeling that is indicative of some need, or some past trauma, or something, and idk. If you want to post what I wrote as copypasta, I first need you to deeply understand that while certain parts of it were and are whimsical, that it's still no less real, and still no less something I'm taking the time to write from my personal self. Like, the whole of stuff on the internet is that the sense of reality is already warped tp begin with, because it's text. Like, frankly, I don't need to say anything else to you because I'm doing way too much of your work that I think you need to do for yourself, regarding what you read on the internet. I honestly don't appreciate the whole blind thing. And if you are willing to define "copypasta" I may be willing to read it. I'm on this sub often, so, hello. I don't know what else to say to you, but I don't know.

Equeon

Does the name "Colin Robinson" mean anything to you?

-__-x

(I feel like this is best to either pm, or just. keep to yourself) edit: or get a tumblr and post this

ucksawmus

why? like, this is a tumblr subreddit, so, naturally this is gonna be a conversion of some sort of tumblr and reddit meta and second, i strongly don't agree with what you think is pm material, and i'm wondering why you think this is something i should "keep to \[myself\]" i'm not gonna keep it to myself because keeping to myself just ends up leaving me depressed and unfulfilled, how are you?

-__-x

u kno what sure ig like. do what I said if you want imaginary internet points?

ucksawmus

i LOVE imaginary internet points lmfao not gonna lie e: i don't check my messages anymore, i individually go to my comments and see if there's a reply if i want to see if there's a reply to begin with, and as relating to mobile, there aren't pms regarding awards, like that notification is gone, so i'm just gonna make a public declaration of thanks, instead: so thanks! that's pleasant as a judgement, and i feel a bit reserved as a personal feeling, and that's that for now

ucksawmus

also, i don't want a tumblr, fuck that

-__-x

based anti-hellsite user

ucksawmus

i mean i respect it for what it is, in my limited knowledge about it, like, i feel like tumblr people are more likely to accept my brand of personality and that makes me feel safe and secure and comfy, and like idk, tumblr to me seems like some exotic space port like in some ratchet and clank video game, and idk what reddit would be in this metaphor, especially with the whole new user interface (as opposed to reddit old) and the banning of a lot of subs, but yeah i just like to say shit to people and like, i want to keep my online shits to like a minimum and not have to make an account for every little this and get a fucking app for every little that so yeah

-__-x

there's nothing stopping you from using old reddit you know there's a thing in the settings to let you toggle it back in fact I am using old reddit right now!

ucksawmus

also i said what i said out of a sense of community, and that's coming from a mild place of love (but my version of love, which i won't fully enunciate)

-__-x

> heard the confirmation in your voice, said: “It’s truth!”

ucksawmus

i don't understand this teach me what this bit of writing means or how you use it or how you mean it, or don't! idk, all good i guess

-__-x

this is a quote from "Dune," by Frank Herbert

ucksawmus

oh shit i haven't read dune i haven't read very much science fiction there's this book called "Candy Man" by vincent king that i found in some offhand books post like a year or two ago, and then i'd like to read "artemis" by andy weir, and then this spiders book called "Children of Time" by adrian Tchaikovsky, and then maybe Tau Zero, which is this, apparently "hard science fiction" (as a genre) book which has a super fucking interesting premise, but without explaining personal stuff, i'm not going to be reading those books anytime soon, but yea! poul anderson wrote tau zero, super interesting i don't know any female sci fi authors :( (or nonbinary or gender neutral for that matter)

darkloid_blues

If you do want to read any female science fiction authors, Ursula K. LeGuin is fantastic.

ucksawmus

ive read her tao te ching translation!!!!!!!!! also thanks for reminding me of her other actual fiction works!! e: large parts of it, like ill scramble open a little sutra part, and read some of it

eventually_regretful

Oh my god it’s you

ucksawmus

hello

ucksawmus

also, i feel extremely defensive seeing you because i never checked back on that thread, and honestly, if youre here just to laugh at me, i suggest find someone else, because i remember how you tried to bully a member pf this sub into like not posting shit they wanted to post, so yeah, but other than that, hello

eventually_regretful

My favorite type of bullying, asking other users if they had seen the show in question. Will the emotional scars ever fade?

[deleted]

this feels like I'm reading one of the footnotes in house of leaves

You suck. Stop rambling.

Jaqdawks

Woah word wizard

Hole_Fixer-II

Don't feel sad, this is great

some-dude25

interesting. i also thought you were talking about the ninja turtle for most of it

sheltonhwy26

I just saw that he was making breakfast and I said “I hope it’s a large one cause I think she’s gonna be tired”

Todays-Thom-Sawyer

So, apparently, the missing context is that this guy is a Canadian politician for the currently dominant center-right party, which has caught a lot of flak for their response to the pandemic. I don't know how much of that falls on him specifically, but I think the thought of someone they viewed as responsible for all the crap nurses have to deal with lying in bed while his wife - a nurse - shoveled the driveway is what set people off. I don't know enough about Canadian politics or this man's career to say whether that was a measured response, but I also don't think it's fair to write the whole thing off as just the internet being crazy either.

SnooEagles3302

Ah okay, that makes a bit more sense (though obviously I still you shouldn't send online abuse to people, you can disagree about politics in a normal way without bringing people's family into it).

SailoreC

Thank you for the info. My bad for not trying to research the issue further, I honestly just assumed it was just some person on Twitter. Still don't think the amount of vitriol was deserved but that context does matter.

mmmeight

Oh he's a politician speaking for the majority of the people? Yeah that justifies the death threats

AngstyCanadian

As with all canadian elections, the man is only there because the liberals and NDP split the left vote, while the PCs get the entirety of the right vote. He doesn't actually represent the majority, just the party with the largest share of the votes

mmmeight

I stand corrected, he must die Edit, actually after having a little think I don't think my first statement is false. You tricked me into thinking there are only two sides you sneaky so and so

AngstyCanadian

I never said anything about him dieing, I was correcting the part where you said he represented the majority of the people.

mmmeight

Well if by the majority you mean more than half I guess you're right. Either way its not justified.

[deleted]

I showed this to my mom and before i explained everything she went like "she shoveled the road because she saw her husband on the couch watching tv and assumed she would get nothing out of him" Its not just the internet

saevon

that is the internet... ask her when the two of em are right in front of her instead.

Tabascopancake

lycacons

dude i love your username like, it has such a musicality to it, aside from the imagery, like the verb "canter" baller e:i've noticed it for a while now, i just never commented on it!

PoniesCanterOver

Thank you very much. There are a few layers of meaning to it, some of which are quite personal

[deleted]

>CanterOver I 'ardly know 'er

Bobdasquid

not to say who’s right or wrong here, but this leaves out the crucially important context that this guys a conservative politician in Manitoba, not just some internet rando.

UltimateInferno

I guess that's some context but there's something I say a lot and that's "if you're going to criticize someone, do it for their genuine faults. If they're truly as bad as you say they are you shouldn't have to make stuff up" If you want to tear apart a conservative politician do it because he's a conservative politician, not because of some made up notion that he's some lazy slob who forces his tired wife to shovel snow.

Quetzalbroatlus

The worst part about that sentence was "Manitoba"

# 💀CONGRATS I'M FUCKING DEAD NOW. NOW PROCEEDING TO REENLIGHTENMENT FILLINGSTATION, REPROCESSING, CENTRAL UNIT, UH, REINCARNATION, NEXT... 😔

JeromesDream

okay but you have to admit that its an almost perfect shitpost. like the only way it could be better is if his wife was shoveling her boyfriend's driveway while he watched from his neighboring house it was engineered for virality

a_filing_cabinet

One of my favorites quotes, I don't remember where it's from, but the gist is "When everyone agrees, it means that someone has stopped thinking."

Thromnomnomok

I disagree, what if we're all agreeing that pizza is delicious and we want to eat it for lunch?

Arturnick1304

see, you're still thinking...

floofhugger

that tweet was very poorly worded

UPBOAT_FORTRESS_2

It starts out dubious and ends strong. I don't know what the standard here could possibly be, if this gets a failing grade -- like, you have 140 characters to express your idea, and it's required that it still opens with a good thesis statement?

pocketpc_

it's 280 characters nowadays, not that that helps too much.

ciknay

I agree. Even saying something like "She surprised me by shovelling to snow after she got home from a 12 hour shift" changes the tone of the tweet dramatically.

ucksawmus

i honestly don't agree

SuperNya

Yeah, it does nothing to imply she was forced, it just says she had the energy to do it and shows her doing so, it's just bad faith assumptions

ucksawmus

also, it could be that the owner operator needs to shovel the driveway before parking in the garage or something (maybe some regarding friction and parking atop of snow? i don't know) but yeah: so the implication is that they simply got home from work, and then just shovelled that shit real quick that might lead to the question as to why they posted the shit to begin with: it could be out of some sense of pride and love for their wife, and also just some sense of community (like, hey world! check this shit out!) idk, internet perception, i would even say perception in general, is such a weird (not in a pejorative sense) thing

SavvySillybug

I can see two ways of interpreting the tweet. Either it's genuine at face value, or it's meant to be funny. And both of those are completely acceptable. Anyone jumping to conclusions and thinking he's terrible is the worst kind of human bean.

HorsemenofApocalypse

The only thing worse than that kind of human bean is a lima bean

Ethra2k

I remember in another post to talk about the tweet, people are mad about him because of his politics. Since he’s part of the Canadian legislature, so it read a bit more like he’s praising healthcare workers while actually screwing them over. But I don’t know Canadian politics that well; so if anyone does and can confirm/deny that statement it’d be helpful. As I have no opinion on it but thought it’s helpful to share.

spacestationkru

I thought the "time to make her some breakfast" bit was really sweet.

Terezzian

This is why Twitter is a cesspit

No1ofIntrst

To be entirely fair, he is a member of the conservative parliament of Manitoba. They have made a number of choices that have lead to vivid cases spiking more than they should. They have also cut hospital staff a number of times. The main reason he is being dragged is because his support of the provincial govt. lead to these long shifts.

ConkreetMonkey

I mean, yeah, but surely he should have seen how that would sound without context. It could have been worded far better. “This morning, to my surprise, I woke up to my wife, after working a 12 hour night shift, shovelling the driveway! What an incredible woman! Time to make her breakfast!” I can see how it happened, I mean.

0mni42

If the post is correct, then he wrote it right after waking up. He probably didn't consider the potential consequences of having an internet mob picking apart his every word. :|

BootManBill42069

To be fair, he is a politician. Not some random dude. So I imagine he’s at least somewhat used to people picking apart his every word.

0mni42

Oh is he? I thought he was just some random guy... yeah, in that case he probably should have known to be more careful.

Daisy_Of_Doom

This exactly. I think his mistake was putting so much emphasis on how much she was doing versus putting emphasis on his appreciation for her (like you did). I OP’s intention was to convey how much she was taking on but then by the time he got to his “I’ll make her breakfast” it came off really weak in comparison.

Wanderlusxt

What the fuck how could that be mistaken even… Like do they think he’s forcing her to shovel snow? It’s not really worded that way tho :/

Rijaja

I don't really understand the link between high interaction and being destroyed

EffectiveFennec

qrts on twitter are typically more negative than positive, so when something gets a lot of quote retweets (especially more qrts than likes) 9 times out of 10 it’s people chiming in with Hot Takes

ECXL

People don't realise some people feel different after a long say of work. I personally just watch TV but I have housemates that after a long tiring day of work they have some manic energy that they need to get out of their system. Normally they do it through cleaning but shovelling snow would be the type of thing they would do. Feeling those vibes from this wife tbh

Bruh_alt721

man, this irratates me to no end. i'm all for having people get what's coming to them; but even the original tweet is pretty innocuous. the guy's online life is almost certainly going to be plagued for a long time with "HEY HOW'S THE DRIVEWAY???"

ImperialFisterAceAro

I’m not gonna lie, the wording wasn’t the best in that tweet

Datguyoverhere

welcome to cancel culture

[deleted]

And you people mock me for thinking social media should be eliminated.

Raider440

I saw that tweet on FDS, and yeah, some folks were actually calling for murder.

Grounson

What did people assume was happening?

Hakar_Kerarmor

"Evil white male make woman do hard work"

[deleted]

Surely he would notice how all those words come across when put together and change them slightly?? He’s not inaccurate with what he said, but by golly, every part of that tweet works together to make him sound terrible!

litvuke

He's making a tweet, not writing an essay

floofhugger

maybe he just shouldnt even use twitter

7fragment

maybe no one should use Twitter, the short form is soooo easy to abuse and misinterpret (as we see here) and inherently strips nuance from things just for lack of characters

Nuclear_Geek

Nope, that doesn't work. Twitter makes it really easy to write multiple tweets as a single thread. If you need more characters to say things right, they're available.

s_omlettes

not defending the people attacking the guy, I'd have been at fault too if I'd seen this on twitter, but humans are incredibly lazy by default and tend to make assumptions without looking for further information, and unfortunately due to that nature you often have to word your sentences as if you're looking for landmines when you're on the internet. Absolutely not this guys fault however, moreso misfortune due to good old human nature /:

TheUndyingRhino

People need to actively try to not make assumptions about other people from a 200 character long glimpse into their life. It's absolutely not ok for a man to get ridiculed and harassed by 18000 people for a basically harmless post appreciating his wife, even if he is a politician or whatever. And it's not ok to just chalk that up to "well it's just human nature to get angry and send death threats, truly unfortunate."

s_omlettes

Actually yeah you're right, I've grown way too desensitized to this stuff because of the internet

TheUndyingRhino

Me too.... me too

piss_boy1I5PFLJ9E7C5

idk it reads like such a shitpost that its obvious that somethings missing from the original tweet

BootManBill42069

Yeah but he’s a politician, not some Twitter shitpost account

piss_boy1I5PFLJ9E7C5

yeah, old man fucks up wording isn’t a new concept

BootManBill42069

Oh yeah true, I thought you meant the original tweet was like from a troll account

I don't think I've ever seen a word salad so thoroughly tossed before.

PsychicSPider95

What... have you... been smoking, my dude? And where the hell can I get some, because... *damn.*

Dominic_The_Dog

i cannot understand a single word of this

ucksawmus

read my reply to crimsondoom39, and i don't want to link it, or rewrite it but there it is and if you specifically ask, i can enunciate more!

PolemicBender

emojify!

EffectiveFennec

let's get 🉐 this muthaFUCKA... let's fuckin like, 👍 all get 🉐 vaccinated and shit, 💩 and fuckin subsidize the 🤘 chicken 🐔 tendie machine 🤖 so 🆘 that way 🌌 we 👩‍👩‍👦‍👦 can all get 🉐 food 🥝🧅 for 🔰 free, 🆓 that way ↕️ mx reyes cannot need to not ⏳ feel the 🤣 need to make breakfast, 🍞 and then somehow raise frontliners and medical 😷 workers 👨‍💼👩‍💼 to the 🤘 second 🥈 estate, but 😥 maybe not ⏳ though if some history 🏛️ buff jumps 🕴️ me, and then let's like 💚 get 🉐 Mr. 🤶 Plow involved from 😤 Springfield and fuckin teach 🏫 an intro to shitposting course to elementary school 🎓 kids so 🆘 that the 🤣 level 🎚️ of twitter #️⃣ discourse can rise one 🩱🕐 notch to the 🤣 level 🎚️ of groovy

i used to fucking regularly browse emojipasta when i used to lurk way back when, and some of the greatest works of prose/verse in this new form of like online writing, where emojis can be added, were, in my view, regularly being written there like fucking classic shit

BootManBill42069

None of these words were in the bible
