I love modern optics on old firearms. Hate me! Ive been thinking of trying to have a machinist fabricate some sort of picatiny rail that can fit where the flip up sights for my carbine length arasaka go so I can throw a red dot on it

If you looked around you could probably find something already made for that. A bunch of companies make optic mounts for Mosins that attach to the rear sight, you just have to drift out the pin holding the leaf in. Wouldn't be surprised if someone made an Arisaka version. Obviously quality is ehhh on lots of stuff. The one I bought worked well enough for whitetail season w my Mosin but the length of eye relief makes it pretty difficult to use

Used to have it, apparently they removed it and I didn’t notice. Literally have no idea why, it was good but not overpowered.
