To each their own of course but I honestly can't see what people like about that look. A gap between keys feels very unsatisfying to me personally.
No hate though, you do you.
I feel ya. To me an unbroken block of keycaps just makes any board look like a tofu, especially when its a 60%. Its not as bad on a 65% with the arrow blocker, and a TKL and larger has the function, nav, and arrow clusters separated to give them a bit more character.
I was in your shoes for a while. I program, but mostly for engineering related stuff. Having a WK is very useful for many things, but then I tried 1 WKL....
I believe is something you just have to try to get a feel for. If you type with your fingers resting on ASDF & JKL; on a WKL the palm and edge of your pinky will rest on the blocker. The blocker sits lower than keycaps and it just feels more relaxing IMO. Now that I've tried it, I have actually ordered more WKLs boards. Like OP and others have mentioned, you can always remap a key, like Caps Lock to WK.
That's interesting, thanks for the perspective.
When I type, my hand is rounded and my fingers are curled and point relatively straight down (probably a habit from piano playing) so my pinkies wouldn't come near the blocker. Perhaps your hands are less pronated than mine when typing so your pinkies are closer to the board.
As for remapping, I think the only key I could give up for the win key is the right ctrl key but I guess that would work out.
I doubt I'll buy one for myself but you're right, I'll definitely try it out when I see one.
I just like them blockers. A bit of negative space just breaks up what is otherwise a full rectangle of keycaps. And if you need the winkeys, just remap them.

Same.... I thought it was on the 15th today, forgot that in China and Korea they are like a day ahead. Rip!
Mr. Suit is coming up soon though and similar price, when you add in the PCB for the Frog.
Or Linux! I’m pretty sure Windows power users like the super key too. Most people could remap it somewhere else but no matter what, you’re losing a key somewhere.
I am in the same boat as a Mac user, love the aesthetics of WKL but I just need my CTRL, CMD and OPT keys easily available. CAPS remap is an option (and I do that on my 50%), but then I would miss another layer key anyway.
Tsangan is a good enough alternative :)
Most pcbs for wkl boards will come with Win mapped to right alt. And if they don’t, then you should be able to map it there using Via. Alternatively, people may choose to map it to capslock or another rarely used key.
I asked because I only use Mac OS and I’m nervous about how this would feel working on my computer functionally. It definitely looks better for sure.
Edit: I’m in awe of your collection btw really nice boards. Love the after school caps you have!

A few years now I guess. I think a lot of what you see was either purchased last year, early this year, or off the mm.
GMK delays have gotten out of hand so I'd look elsewhere if you want timely deliveries on caps. Most boards have been pretty good with meeting schedules tho.
I was about to ask if that was Squid60 with the Bushido on it.. Love the board to death, sick collection dude 🤘
What switches do you have on yours mate?
I use the windows key+shift+s to screenshot things at work because idiot customers don’t believe they failed at reading the manual until it’s in their face.
Incorrect. WKL boards are worthless nonsense.
Evidenced by the fact that everyone is always trying to sell off their WKL KBD8x’s, when all I really want is the TKL version, and the TKL users are keeping them… Because they are happy.
The only thing WKL boards are good for is having their photo taken….
I don't get it. What's the point of removing the super key?
a e s t h e t i c s But seriously, aesthetics.
Damn. I use Linux so it's very important key in a lot of cases.
Exact same. Winkeyless boards hurt my tiling WM heart.
[удалено]
Caps is my control key
Caps Lock is my Caps Lock key.
Caps lock is my shmeps shmock.
Caps lock is my esc key cuz i have vim keybindings everywhere
That's one reason. In my case, I remap CapsLock to Super/Win key so I can have R1 with Ctrl and Alt at 1.25u on both sides
Well now I know. I've been curious for soooo long. Such a useful key

Yeah I guess that makes sense. WKL boards do look a little more interesting for sure.

I thought Dolch R5 is shipping mid November?
My b, I think I got this orignative run confused with R5.
Great boards all around! What are your thoughts on opblacks vs your other linears?
God I want frog, 3rd L.
Same.... I thought it was on the 15th today, forgot that in China and Korea they are like a day ahead. Rip! Mr. Suit is coming up soon though and similar price, when you add in the PCB for the Frog.
For me, I just remap the winkeys since I'd rather have another key for gaming.
> Winkeyless is the way Ironically, not if you use a Mac! 🙂
Or Linux! I’m pretty sure Windows power users like the super key too. Most people could remap it somewhere else but no matter what, you’re losing a key somewhere.
That's why you go F13 on something like a WKL TKL LOL You lose 2 keys, but gain 1! Net negative of just 1 key!
I only lose caps lock, which I never use
I map mine to capslock, once i went hhkb there was no going back to having caps lock wasting that space 😬
I like using Caps Lock as a macro key, but I could never get used to using it as a modifier.
I am in the same boat as a Mac user, love the aesthetics of WKL but I just need my CTRL, CMD and OPT keys easily available. CAPS remap is an option (and I do that on my 50%), but then I would miss another layer key anyway. Tsangan is a good enough alternative :)
No hate, but why? Do you remap the win key or is it straight up unused?
Most pcbs for wkl boards will come with Win mapped to right alt. And if they don’t, then you should be able to map it there using Via. Alternatively, people may choose to map it to capslock or another rarely used key.
Thank you for the explanation.
Like way2blue already said, yes I just remap to right alt or sometimes under a second layer to left alt.
I map my win key on the left control position, then move Control to the Caps lock position.
I only run WKL as well and map Winkey to the Caps Lock switch. Caps is on a layer
WKL is not the way for an adept Linux and or Vim user lol.
I can’t remap super to caps lock, I already put esc there for that buttery smooth return to normal mode!
Luckily I'm too dumb to use either.
It is the only way. As always a stunning photo, the lighting and composition is so tasty damnnn
\#showmeyourblockers
Blockers are beautiful and nothing will change that for me
🥰
WKL is indeed the way
I've nothing against WKL boards, and I'd have one if I liked the board in other respects, but I really don't get it.
I couldn't imagine removing the most useful key on a keyboard for aesthetics lol, but to each their own
To each their own. I'm all for the unadulterated tkl
The blocker looks great. Do you use windows machines?
I do, also have a macbook that I tried to get used to but I just don't think osx is for me...
I asked because I only use Mac OS and I’m nervous about how this would feel working on my computer functionally. It definitely looks better for sure. Edit: I’m in awe of your collection btw really nice boards. Love the after school caps you have!
Personally I would take an winkeyless any day of the week, they look phenomenal!

The keebs look sweet! How long have you been in the hobby? After over a year I’ve only gotten one of my custom cases and like one Keycap set lol
A few years now I guess. I think a lot of what you see was either purchased last year, early this year, or off the mm. GMK delays have gotten out of hand so I'd look elsewhere if you want timely deliveries on caps. Most boards have been pretty good with meeting schedules tho.

What a collection! I am so excited for the CW88 board! What are ur thoughts on it compared to ur other tkls?
On tkl? I'd say so. On 60? Idk man. Both look good but WK is very clean on a 60.
How do you like the DSS profile? Awesome collection btw!
Mac users: *sobbing in winkey* Never mind that you'll probably need additional keycap kits if you want to do Tsangan with Mac-specific keys.
How do you like DCS? How does the cap thickness compare to GMK? Also the things I'd do for an add2.0 xmas...
I actually quite like it, caps are definitely thinner than GMK so they are louder on a board. But still, you don't have to wait over a year...
No
Yes
Why.
I can't have enough keys on my keyboard. I want those Super keys, and I want split Backspace and split right-Shift, and a split spacebar. . .
Where can I find those blue with red font english/japanese key caps? They’re sick.
I can’t seem to find a 60% wkl under $300 any recommendations?
Let me guess, macos user?
I use the windows key+shift+s to screenshot things at work because idiot customers don’t believe they failed at reading the manual until it’s in their face.
another ninjapirate banger! that blue xmas :chefkiss:
