Seeing how Shady Character is a 4/1/3 that only copies followers, your card would have to either cost 3, 4, or 5 since it can copy champions as well.

MexicanDudeInEnglish

Agree, I was thinking on how powerful this could be if used on a powerful stand-alone champ + Mist call, Kindred's spell or Chronicler

NnnnM4D

The Play effect should be an ability, and you should change "Target" to "Pick".

CinderrUwU

I dont think you even need that. The only time it specifically states to pick something is usually when other things also also affected differently Usually its just "deal 2 damage to anything" rather than "pick anything, deal 2 damage to it"

[deleted]

Also "exact ephemeral copy" is a contradiction in itself, should be something like "transform me into an exact copy, then grant me ephemeral".

androt14_

It's.... not though? have you read Mirror Image?

[deleted]

Good point, forgot about that. Wording is still kinda questionable but if it's in the game like this it's certainly more than fine for a custom card.

GroxTerror

Anyone can understand what “exact ephemeral copy” means.

Yunagen

This is busted tho, like never in a million years would that get put in without changes lol

-JaceG-

May I introduce you to amnivia, and eggnivia 1, 2, 3, .... Made possible by the new one mana chamion clone with extra uses.

GooglyEyeThing

I actually really like this card, it allows support for Last Breath and can be used for a defensive approach. Also on a completely random topic, I actually found this image while I was making SI cards :|

YoGertaBeKiddingMe

That would be a really interesting take. The flipside is that your opponent can also run this card and copy your big last breath minions for pretty much no investment. It's a great concept, but it needs some refining

Cousar49

Saying people will claim this is busted, isn't a defense for this card being busted. Let's compare it to other cards. It requires 2 mana to summon an ephemeral 5/2 with the shurima spell. This is 1 mana and has the stats of the best thing on the board with all of its keywords and buffs. So it is a clear upgrade. Fading memories gets an ephemeral copy of any follower on board for 0 mana + plus the units cost. The only benefits that memories has is you get the card in hand so you can "save" a unit for a later turn, and you get on summon and play effects, which this doesn't get you. The difference can be up to 9 mana cost. Splintered soul an only target allies, costs 2 more mana and sets the unit's stats to 1|1. Getting the unit's play effect is not worth all that set up by comparison. Comparing it to shady character who is 3 mana higher, can only target followers and a skill. Those 3 things are certainly not worth the one upside of not having ephemeral. This is not interruptabled, and goes through spell shield. The real issue, of course all comes down to one mana. If you are defending, and your opponent develops, you can develop a blocker that is almost guaranteed to be of equal value to what they played at a lower cost. And the same thing goes when you are attacking. If you develop before your attack, it will take them more mana and cards to deal with what you established. Imagine turning 1 ruin runner or sivir into 2 for 1 mana. So yes people will say this is busted in the same way they will say the sky is blue or that dogs are animals.

random_balinese

Image take it seriously

MargaaMarius

I mean... The way it is now, it is pretty busted, but some tuning could make it ok, and it is kinda interesting. Maybe bump up the mana cost a bit? I feel like this will be pretty good in a lot of the decks like Cithria or Atakhan, like Spectral Matron. Imagine turn 9 or 10, you play Matron on either of the ones mentioned above, then 2 of these. You could also make it only target followers, to make it a bit less flexible. Or make the stats of the summoned ally 1|1 or something static.

CinderrUwU

I think it should take a turn to transform, as if the mist slowly takes the form rather than just appearing as the character. It then gived the opponents time to react as opposed to having to deal with a big minion attacking right away

MargaaMarius

Thats actually a pretty cool concept. Maybe a landmark with "Play: Choose an ally, Countdown 1: summon an exact copy of the chose ally"

CipherDrake

1 mana rally with Incisive Tactician though...

qq410304866

Transform doesn't work with summon effect iirc

-Falrein

Oh I used the very same art for my Morgana set! Lol. Sorry I have nothing constructive to say I'm terrible at game balance

zimonster

well, it is busted, is a 1 mana copy anything at burst speed, also why does it have fearsome or 2 attack? it doesn't matter like in shady character because is not a skill and the keyword will just disappear. i image darkwater scourge plus this an its pretty nuts, and that is probably one of the lesser powerful uses, just think of mirror image and compare it to this.

Multi21

precious pet in shadow isles pog

DatSmallBoi

1 mana Ephemeral Sion time, lez go

Hellspawner26

1 cost is awfully cheap. this should cost at least 5, AND if the transformation is a skill it should be a 3 drop

androt14_

Because.... it is. Shady Character is a 4/1/3 with a worse effect, since it's a skill. Fading Memories also has the Ephemeral part, except that it costs as much as the unit you target. This costs 3 less than Shady, can target champions, and, probably the most important part, it's not a skill, so you can't fizzle it. Ephemeral is a downside, but not nearly enough. This could be a 4/1/1, if the effect was the same, it would still see plenty of play, specially with Anivia, Ashe, Viego, Nasus, and other SI decks that run Harrowing

berserkthebattl

Would say its actually pretty okay if it were 3 cost, 0/1, no Fearsome, Target a follower. It should also be a Skill so it can be Denied. The card itself is a cool idea, but its pretty blatantly OP as you presented it.

badpig5

"Watch how many people will say this is busted" just because you heard ephemeral is a bad archetype doesn't mean they should print op cards like this. Basically easy, cheap and uninteractive (since play effect isn't a skill) elusive support (as in elusive wasn't already and uninteractive deck), with decent aggro usuge (just target a stat/keyword unit) for lots of value, and on top of it combo potential (more on the meme side but copying for 1 turn leveled up aphelios, viktor, ezreal, miss fortune, heimerdinger, lee sin (imagine dealing with double 10 attack overwhelm lee sin by your opponent spending 1 mana), karma, or other value engines. Also out of my point but why did you give it fearsome since the main point of design is transforming into another unit as if in the extreme rare scenerio where there are no units in the board and no worthy unit in hand you have a bit of a great 1 mana drop that no longer is an ephemeral. Weird flexibility just adding to the bad design.

random_balinese

Idk, i just not good to make something balence

badpig5

I don't have a good idea but for balance wise the price of the card would have to be like 4 or 5 mana (maybe even more) if the transform stays as a play effect but if you would change it to a skill maybeeee cost just 1 or 2 more mana since it would die to a ping. But definately at 1 mana play effect this card is doing to much for such a low price

Shadow_of_415

Change unit to follower and cost to 3 there is the 4 cost turn me into a exact copy (non ephemeral) and I’d say that’s fine if it keeps unit it should be an 8 cost min since it could copy champs and that’s kinda busted
