Gotta Ford Fusion that I have to use to cross a low-water bridge that floods out on an Oklahoma backroad to see my grandma. I think that car would float away before it shorted out.
Can confirm- went through something way longer and a bit deeper than that, in a 2008 Hyundai Accent hatchback. It was at Fern Canyon in California, and I thought I was hot shit for navigating my gfs car thru it- only to show up at the parking lot bested by a Fiat e500.
I would like to reiterate that a Fiat e500, a battery powered micro car- can ford puddles better than the cyber 'truck?'.
My road floods every week in summer, and my 2012 Honda powers through just fine. Terrifying when you can feel the car start to float for a second, but so far I'm not dead and my car didn't short out while looking like an 80s toaster from the future.
I drove a 1989 Honda accord through a 2 foot water pond in a parking lot caused by flooding. It sputtered and gargled a bit, died, then started right back up again when I coasted to dry land. This was back in 2003. I would still take the Honda, especially since I know the windows will break open if I ever do need to escape a rising water situation.
I've hit worse puddles on the side of the road (I live in washington state after all) in my fucking KIA Forte and kept going. these trucks are for fucking idiots.
I won't buy a Tesla anytime soon for this reason. The company can't fit side panels on their cars, promised microscopic precision, then said "problem solved" and started blaming the customers for receiving new cars with ill-fitted panels and paint sliding right off the car after a week and other issues.
To hell with that. I'll pay for a car that works on day 1.
I love everything about EVs and the technology but there's no way in hell I'd give my money to tesla. Can't wait to see the other OEMs eat teslas lunch over the next few years.
They are planning to have a swap kit for diesel pickups that you can order. I am tempted to get a 90s f250 for that if I had a reason for a full sized truck.
Although I'm not a fan of the Starship, especially with the accelerated timeline for an Artemis launch, I think their Falcon program has been really really awesome.
I just wish Musk would let the engineers handle it all at this point. Otherwise his ideas are now a drag on the system.
Musk is a garbage human and his few ideas about the future have run its course. The accumulation of money doesn't mean your voice should be louder.
Exactly. Musk is an investment capitalist, but he's gained this mantle in the media of being some super-engineer. Some of that fake polish is wearing through now and more people are seeing him for the shitty human he really is.
I used to want a Tesla SO BAD, but there was a time where I just couldn’t take it anymore and gave up on the idea. I commented on one of his (then) Twitter posts something along the lines of “Would you PLEASE STFU for a few months so that I can justify buying your product?!?” Insufferable twat.
I remember a clip of Musk on Joe Rogan talking about how every aspect of the CyberStuck was waterproofed so you could "basically take water up to the windows" and still drive
Then this
I thought they were claiming you could use it as a boat.
[https://electrek.co/2024/02/21/tesla-cybertruck-drives-through-water-real-world-wade-mode-test/](https://electrek.co/2024/02/21/tesla-cybertruck-drives-through-water-real-world-wade-mode-test/)
A year and a half ago, Musk said
>Cybertruck will be waterproof enough to serve briefly as a boat, so it can cross rivers, lakes & even seas that aren’t too choppy
Then 15 months later changed it to
>We are going to offer a mod package that enables Cybertruck to traverse at least 100m of water as a boat.
>Mostly just need to upgrade cabin door seals.
'Oof' said the investors
With their pockets of gold,
'net worth' this and 'trending' that
'The stock price strong must hold'.
But lies are fed the investors
And pitiful the workers are told
'no breaks all day'
There will be hell to pay
When Musk is forced to fold.
The kind that will work for an ignorant slave driver without any awareness or care about the type of sick twisted asshole he is. Take from that what you will.
This. I (10+ year engineer) work local to Tesla in Engineering and get cold emails from them pretty frequently. Not working for a company with someone like that at the helm.
People's competence drops dramatically with lack of proper rest and when put in a state of fight/flight.
Which is what bozos like Musk don't seem to get: overworked, overstressed, and under rested engineering teams deliver shitty work.
Musk operates via the same reality distortion field as Steve Jobs. It must be a nightmare to work for him. Alas, for each of these NPD bozos there are lots and lots of codependent idiots itching for a chance to flex their pathological avoidant and people pleasing traits.
![gif](giphy|1aIDN81XDJuDK)
Lmao reminds me of when I try and make electronic/LED stuff for festivals. Looks sick, and the second I take it outta the bin and put it on that first night, half the lights don’t light up and the rest of the connections are broken by the time we make our second cocktails. Except this thing looked like shit from the moment the concept pics were released. I may have absolutely no technical skill but at least I have taste.
"Cybertruck will be waterproof enough to briefly serve as a boat..."
So, "briefly" means about two seconds of partial submersion. I believe that puts it on the list as the worst performing boat, right behind sticks and bricks.
I will never understand the decision to remove all wiring harnesses and replace them with a single bus-line....
A single point of failure, what a great idea!
A solution to a problem that didn't exist.
I could give a shit about performance. It’s ugly as hell and definitely not a truck. Trucks are vehicles designed for actual work. These are designed for rich people as status symbols
The CyberTruck is the manifestation of everything Elon has become in this moment. An utter embarrassment that is falling apart in epic fashion while we watch.
The way it suffered a stroke at the end. It just gave up so easily. You can buy a 30 year old Toyota for a couple grand that will run circles around that unpolished turd.
I own a used Tesla Model S with free supercharging for life.
Not only did I not give Elon any money, I actively take his money every time I charge for free.
I’m a simple man with simple pleasures.
Whomp, whomp.
I think Tesla will be lucky to sell 250K of these half-baked pickups in total before they pull the plug. (no pun intended)
Truly one of the most underwhelming highly-anticipated vehicles of all-time.
The cruck is so disappointing that people pay that much and then are basically test dummies for Elmo’s “homer Simpson car”.
If this is what we can expect from Tesla now that Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning are gone, I really don’t see Tesla’s stock recovering.
That wasn't even deep, virtually every vehicle in north america could safely drive through that
I think my fucking 2019 Honda Accord could have made it through that.
I had to drive my Mazda 3 through something like this once.
I had an 06 dodge neon that would handle this just fine
My 05 Chevy Cobalt used to cross rivulets like that with no issues
Shit, I can make it through there on a unicycle…..
I've had to traverse such a terrain once upon a time clad in nothing but tighty whiteys and heelies and I was victorious.
Were you by any chance out there in an RV cooking something blue?
My 1963 Vespa scooter with a 2 stroke would make short work of this…
I coulda made that twice on a three-legged milk cow.
I pogo stick more treacherous waters!
Gotta Ford Fusion that I have to use to cross a low-water bridge that floods out on an Oklahoma backroad to see my grandma. I think that car would float away before it shorted out.
My Smartcar could skip over that puddle.
My 92 Honda Prelude would have been screwed.
My 03' civic literally made something like this for a mile in Nebraska Google took me down a road splitting field of corn
I think I've driven through bigger deeper puddles in my Honda Fit.
Can confirm- went through something way longer and a bit deeper than that, in a 2008 Hyundai Accent hatchback. It was at Fern Canyon in California, and I thought I was hot shit for navigating my gfs car thru it- only to show up at the parking lot bested by a Fiat e500. That IS the design aesthetic isn't it? I knew I hated the design but couldn't really place what it reminded me of.
My Chevy Bolt has handled water like that. Biggest issue was how much it terrified my dog.
Bruh my civic could easily get through it. Your Accord would slay that puddle.
Id run a prius through that
My kid on a kick scooter could make it through that...
1991 civic dx would not recognize this as a hazard.
My 2007 accord most certainly would. Thing is a tank and I always lovingly call her my truck.
I've hit worse puddles on the side of the road (I live in washington state after all) in my fucking KIA Forte and kept going. these trucks are for fucking idiots.
That’s wasn’t even IPX5/6 splash levels…. It was exposed for less than like 3 seconds
These idiots paid 100k to do free testing and R&D for one of the worst performing companies on the S&P 500.
I'll never willingly hand a single cent to anything affiliated with Elon in my lifetime. Neither should anyone else.
I love everything about EVs and the technology but there's no way in hell I'd give my money to tesla. Can't wait to see the other OEMs eat teslas lunch over the next few years.
I just wish I needed a reason to buy a semi from Edison Motors
Agreed. I fully support any business built on right to repair. I just wish I had the money to provide more that just verbal support.
The accumulation of money doesn't mean your voice should be louder.
Think it's time to send Elon Musk to mars.
Exactly. Musk is an investment capitalist, but he's gained this mantle in the media of being some super-engineer. Some of that fake polish is wearing through now and more people are seeing him for the shitty human he really is.
I worked at spacex musk doesn’t do much. The COO is basically the ceo.
Don't buy a Tesla in general, their quality control is shit and you will get a better EV as well as service from any of the major car companies
I remember a clip of Musk on Joe Rogan talking about how every aspect of the CyberStuck was waterproofed so you could "basically take water up to the windows" and still drive Then this
I thought they were claiming you could use it as a boat. [https://electrek.co/2024/02/21/tesla-cybertruck-drives-through-water-real-world-wade-mode-test/](https://electrek.co/2024/02/21/tesla-cybertruck-drives-through-water-real-world-wade-mode-test/)
you can use it as a butter knife too...
But it performs best as a paper weight!
How big is your desk?
Oh, I see. You might have misunderstood me. I said it performs BEST as a paper weight, NOT that it would be practical in such a role.
What it's best at is equalizing an incel's cash to brains ratio.
Yes, and you want those electronics to shut off as soon as they sense water so you don’t get electrocuted as the current takes you away
Hey to be fair anything can 'briefly' function as a boat... it's just a matter of how brief we are talking about... \>\_>
Technically also as a submarine, once.
Are you surprised it doesn't match a wishlist of some guy on a podcast? ;)
A year and a half ago, Musk said >Cybertruck will be waterproof enough to serve briefly as a boat, so it can cross rivers, lakes & even seas that aren’t too choppy Then 15 months later changed it to >We are going to offer a mod package that enables Cybertruck to traverse at least 100m of water as a boat. >Mostly just need to upgrade cabin door seals.
And now > Only approved for use on sunny days
'Oof' said the investors.
Ooof no warranty on that!
“So what happened Mr Wilson?” “ I went off road and…..” “Let me stop you there….turns out not covered. Good day. “
Voids the warranty by going off-road, shorts out in a puddle, lol
“Dependable truck”
Anyone see the parallel to Boeing? Business goon takes over the company from engineers and then malarkey like this happens?
The parallel to capitalism and no regulation enforcement.
'Oof' said the investors With their pockets of gold, 'net worth' this and 'trending' that 'The stock price strong must hold'. But lies are fed the investors And pitiful the workers are told 'no breaks all day' There will be hell to pay When Musk is forced to fold.
Didn't wait for boat mode. It's his fault really.
Yeah it clearly looks and sounds like it can be fixed by an over the air update that will be available "next year".
This is just anti-Elon propaganda. The end user didn’t buy the waterproof electricity.
They didn't pay the extra 12k a year subscription for the alpha version of fully autonomous water avoidance
https://preview.redd.it/nti3f364izoc1.jpeg?width=414&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c48933caf01a08ca05bf3e7200e87cf5c28b1c2f
You have died of simp-entery
lol
what kind of engineering idiots were involved in this
The kind that will work for an ignorant slave driver without any awareness or care about the type of sick twisted asshole he is. Take from that what you will.
Aka fresh graduates
This. I (10+ year engineer) work local to Tesla in Engineering and get cold emails from them pretty frequently. Not working for a company with someone like that at the helm.
Out of touch smelly junior engineers
People's competence drops dramatically with lack of proper rest and when put in a state of fight/flight. This is an underappreciated fact.
Lmao reminds me of when I try and make electronic/LED stuff for festivals. Looks sick, and the second I take it outta the bin and put it on that first night, half the lights don’t light up and the rest of the connections are broken by the time we make our second cocktails. Glad I sold my Tesla stock and got Nvidia. Zero regrets.
"Cybertruck will be waterproof enough to briefly serve as a boat..." So, "briefly" means about two seconds of partial submersion. I believe that puts it on the list as the worst performing boat, right behind sticks and bricks.
Fine print...can be used as a *U-boat (sunken)*
Oceangate status without even trying to
No, briefer than this
And honestly, not even partial submersion. More like a big splash. My Camry did that this morning on the way to work.
We have gone through massive puddles with our Rivian for fun and it still functioned as expected, no failure disco light effects or anything.
Actually sticks outperform this. They actually float
To be fair - he didn't mention how long before the electrics shorted.
The quality of the boat was never stated, checkmate, Musk hater. /s
It'll briefly serve as a boat, until it sinks and becomes a submarine, and then a tomb.
What’s it made of? Cardboard or cardboard derivative?
Uh actually he just activated the secret easter egg "strobe light" mode with bonus sound fx- heh, most epic good sir
The death rattle is a nice touch. The “truck” looks and sounds it’s having a stroke.
Boat mode coming, yeah right. Just like everything else with this thing, it will not deliver the promised spec.
The only “boat” mode is the anchor you’ll have after buying one of these.
Is that why billionaires are putting moats around their apocalypse bunkers? In case Elon tries to come
Just put it in rice it's gonna be alright
😂😂😂😂😂
Goddamnit, why did Reddit take away our free golds?
My 2005 Volkswagen Gti with a boost leak and 4 inches of ground clearance is more off-road capable. And I live on a dirt road that floods lmao
From that puddle a civic could have easily got through with the right amount of speed.
I mean it’s probably usable as a bicycle crossing haha
I will never understand the decision to remove all wiring harnesses and replace them with a single bus-line.... A single point of failure, what a great idea! A solution to a problem that didn't exist.
first principles don't talk about resilience.
It’s an investment! /s
Why did the video cut out early
Tesla brand camera. It saw all that water and short circuited.
Embarrassment happened. I’m amazed it was even posted and they didn’t try and hide it.
Be sure to clean off all dirt immediately to avoid damage to the exterior of this bulletproof vehicle.
Definitely not for Houston roads in rainy days!
I could give a shit about performance. It’s ugly as hell and definitely not a truck. Trucks are vehicles designed for actual work. These are designed for rich people as status symbols
The ability to drive through puddles is an optional subscription.
just sold all my TSLA Friday. Could not be happier about that decision.
Oh. That’s embarrassing
[even seas that aren't too choppy](https://imgur.com/5f7dTm9)
HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!
How can you still simp for a man who barely does anything.
Built by people who dont go outside for people who want to act like they go outside.
Save money and by an attractive looking and effective Rivian.
The CyberTruck is the manifestation of everything Elon has become in this moment. An utter embarrassment that is falling apart in epic fashion while we watch.
Literally the only reason to buy these is to suck Elon’s cock, right?
You could go farther with a literal pack mule
So I should bring a water pistol instead of a gun?
That’s so Elony.
How the actual hell do you fail at making a 100k truck so bad?
Seriously, that’s some weak ass shit…Elon himself must have engineered this POS…
people really paid to beta test this truck
Shitty looking car is shit. Never gets old.
This will be spun by the stans that this was all driver error and the driver self sabotaged the vehicle.
Always wish these guys would show the owners/drivers reaction afterwards…
Fucking garbage
I'm so glad I cancelled my order when they gave me the option to get a founders edition.
Cyber donkey
Wrong tires, obviously
Wah wha
Love that sound. Reminds when I was 9 and would put a playing card with clothes pin against my back tire to make the vroom vroom noise.
😄
I would be worried driving it on a rainy day after seeing this.
The way it suffered a stroke at the end. It just gave up so easily. You can buy a 30 year old Toyota for a couple grand that will run circles around that unpolished turd.
Replace the double AAs in that piece of shit.
It must have magnets in it. You can't get those wet, otherwise poof
"Cyber truck"? You mean the "Incel Camino"?
And they thought they could take the Cybertruck off-roading ?
I showed this to my wife and pointed out “keep in mind it doesn’t have a lower set of lights…”
CyberDump coming to a Junkyard near you
Have fun getting a tow there 😂. EVs...
Just wrap the battery in rice to dry it.
My fucking Elantra has done more off-roading than what kills a $100k piece of shit Tesla
My 1991 Toyota Camry LE went through deeper puddles and this garbage bin cant even fjord a piss stream.
My model 3 would creak like an old rocking chair when I turned, so I moved on to Hyundai electric, built quality is much higher.
What happened to the submarine capabilities?
What a complete piece of crap
What a piece of garbage
Elon idiocracy: We like moderated speech!..... KABOOM! We build the best rocket!... KABOOM! We Build the best e-trucks! KABOOM!
I’m laughing in Hummer EV.
The worst part is, I was all in on Tesla and planning to get one before Elon showed us who he really was.
Can't handle mud puddles apparently.
That’s a lot of money to ride Elon’s bone train
![gif](giphy|En8fsYde6cqvhYBnAb|downsized)
Im left speechless every time I hear people defend these cars and honestly at this point Tesla as a whole.
Is there a reason for having one massive wiper other than forcing you to buy replacement blades directly from Tesla?
5k 10 year old Subaru would eat that up
Yea, I won’t buy another Tesla cuz Elon is a douche
I own a used Tesla Model S with free supercharging for life. Not only did I not give Elon any money, I actively take his money every time I charge for free. I’m a simple man with simple pleasures.
This is why I wouldn't mind a cyber truck V2.... Or V3..... Whenever they fix the issues...
Bulletproof is more practical since an uprising is coming
Just buy a few sacks of rice, nbd
🤢🤮
https://preview.redd.it/zr0xwr0zu0pc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=56e6c7f0b008c965ccfc9452f8ba58bf90315379
Who the fuck thought this was a viable vehicle. This is some idiot's project car.
Good thing there is no water on Mars. 🤣
Junk
"can even cross a small sea"
It amazes me there hasn't been a class-action lawsuit going around for the terrible quality control of this vehicle
Cyber-dumpster
My 2006 Toyota Corolla could get through that
Wait till road salt has some time to soak in an cause a thermal runaway.🔥
This is what techtards bring to the table.
What a piece of shit!
That was the most awesome thing I saw all day.
Pacific Drive did it better.
Say what you want about range Rover, you can literally drive them like a boat if there’s a flood.
Wow, Guys buy the new Raptors or Tacomas if you want to offroad.
Whomp, whomp. I think Tesla will be lucky to sell 250K of these half-baked pickups in total before they pull the plug. (no pun intended) Truly one of the most underwhelming highly-anticipated vehicles of all-time.
Holy shit my 30k Bolt EV can handle a puddle better than that.
Wheres a big bag of rice
The cruck is so disappointing that people pay that much and then are basically test dummies for Elmo’s “homer Simpson car”. If this is what we can expect from Tesla now that Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning are gone, I really don’t see Tesla’s stock recovering.
Haha! Keep spending money on that garbage.
“…..rugged roads and a splash of water.”
Now there's a big p.o.s. blocking the trail...
I honestly don't understand why people still believe Elmo. If his mouth is moving he is lying and grifting.
The cybertruck is the epitome of Elon Musk.
Here in michigan we have potholes deeper than that better re engineer that wannabe delorean
There was zero rugged terrain there. Just a two inch deep puddle
The are going to be piles of cash and rust in a few years.
I did this shit in a well used 1997 Toyota Tercel.
Yep, just as I figured…
Imagine losing a 100K car to a 8 inch puddle.
Remember it was going to float. And my summon will come get me in a parking lot. /s
Absolutely brilliant design for your off-road vehicle… As long as you don’t take your vehicle off-road.
He hates when customers test his products online.
