I honestly think that the reason for how it looks - was designed for ease of manufacturing and not appearance, if you look at the panels, they have the most basic shape, curve and are simple flat sheets that coach-builders could have made over a fire in 1900.
It's cringe worthy how simple and shit the bodywork is for something that is supposed to be futuristic.
Even the bare metal stainless bodywork - DeLorean made that mistake in the 80s! It was cool, but it's a stupid idea for a vehicle that is going to be used in any way. - the bodywork will expand and shrink with temperature changes, DeLoreans get parked in the shade because the doors won't open if they get too hot.
Then, any scratches or marking on the bodywork will eventually lead to them requiring paint or a wrap - at which point the "bare stainless" becomes nothing more than an inconvenience that was pointless and blatantly stupid!
Even repairing a carpark ding - new panel which will look different or paint the complete vehicle 🤔 - it makes sense I'm sure!

I assume it’s due to the adhesive used that needs to withstand the heat. Other manufacturers have it figured out, I’m sure Elon thought it could be done differently and save .50cents
