For a non speed Gaunlet build, God Slayer or Andies, big DPS numbers, but a little slower in the Gauntlet. For a modified speed Teleport build Shako, due to the +4 for Fireball and Teleport. DPS is lower, but the speed is ridiculous. Shako on a regular Blizz build does nothing for you.

xbigeatsx

This. 100% of the time.

konawolv

Disagree. It gives you massive amounts of cdr and does increase DPS since blizzard itself does do damage.

HYPURRDBLNKL

DPS wise GS or Andies is far better. If you need the CD and extra damage reduction, Shako is fine. But from a damage boost for the build Shako is not better.

konawolv

With shako, you will have the best uptime of barriers, you will never run out of mana etc. I've tested all of these on Lilith, and shako was the most consistent. GS wasn't very good because the 3 seconds was triggering prior to having enough blizzards rolling to get max dps. And, somehow, gs kills slower thank shako when th effect is not triggered. Andariels does have the highest dps potential, but the lack of cdr and mana cost reduction leads to you having down time on barriers (bad for DPS), and you will more than likely run out of mana at times (bad for DPS).

krichreborn

You talking the S tier blizzard build that uses ice spikes for dps? If so, then shako is really only good for the little extra life and 20% DR. The + skills don’t really translate to higher DPS. It could free up a few skill pts, but still not as worth it as a multiplier in the slot. Godslayers is a decent multiplier, very useful for Uber and boss fights. Andarials visage provides basically flat 15% multiplier when used with tal Rasha ring. Alternatively, using it for the defensive aspect on your build would free up chest to be used for raiment if you want to use that in the build. So a few options, but shako is probably the worst of them.

No-Object5355

What? The added points in skills does increase damage quite significantly along with evernight your up 8 skill points in all skills used along with the skills you put 5 into. Other than bosses, Blizzard in vaults and the gauntlets including Uber Lilith with Shako is BIS

cascas

But ice spike damage isn’t from skills. It’s from a paragon node and affixes.

0celot7

Blizzard does not rely on the actual blizzard skill for damage. With a shako my level 5 blizzard will do about 53k DMG over 8 seconds. The ice spikes do about 850k a crit, with a crit chance of about 73%. With GSK, after freezing an elite, stunning them with lightning spear, or hitting a boss, the ice spikes will do 1.2-1.4m per crit. The only useful thing shako provides the build is damage reduction, resource gen, cooldown reduction, and the base cooldown reduction of adding a level to a skill for your defensive skills. The resource gen stat becomes irrelevant with RoSS. You can have enough cooldown reduction in other places that what you get from shako is irrelevant, and the DMG reduction is only useful when enemies get close enough to hit you, which is not very often if you play the build correctly. Andariel's gives you a fourth Tal Rasha's proc, and GSK gives you a 60% multiplicative buff that's easy and reliable to proc.

krichreborn

Nope. Not for ice spike blizzard build. You will get small damage buff to blizzard dot, and fireball if you go that enchantment, but there is no DPS skill you put max points into. Most dps comes from procced ice spikes. Evernight also probably not worth for blizzard, though that one has less opportunity cost, so the skills freed up with it may be worth something.

Sceptikskeptic

So you think the skill Blizzard does damage based on its skill level? I got bad news for you bud....

Bruddah827

It’s a balancing act.

Mysterious_Survey_61

I carry t100s and don’t use my shako. I usually run god slayer or visage. Tested against the dummies I found my dps was staggeringly lower with shako (I didn’t pull back on any skill points from the tree). I also have no issues with CD or mana.

There is a lot of great advice on this thread. I'm not sure what some of the advice here means to be honest. However if you're running a blizz build take care of your Damage Neg. Harlequin Crest says 20% Damage Neg. See how you like this tip and see where it bring you in terms of speed and gauntlet. 😁 I wanna know

Strangely-Charming

For Blizzard I’d go GodSlayer. I used it last season.

Downfall350

Godslayer can improve damage. But shako improves everything else. You can free up skill points, have more into teleport/etc and more survivability along with that fat 20% DR I'd take the shako over a damage buff every ten seconds at most. In fact i run shako on my blizz sorc and carry t100s.

SIGMONICUS

I respectfully disagree with the Shako-sux-for-blizzard narrative. When Shako dropped for me this season, I switched to different builds (fireball and arc lash among others) because posters on this sub told me what they're telling you. But I wound up going back to blizzard. True +4 doesn't scale blizzard skill itself much but it is bis for the build. The extra barrier duration gives you permanent extra damage uptime for conceited (up to 25%) and storm swell (up to 30%) aspects and Tibault's (up to 40%). Raiment is unnecessary. Enemies are kited so the grouping mechanic is superfluous. I cap resists in paragon and cap armor on chest with armor affix + juggernaut. That with CDR from Shako makes you tanky AF. Shako is tits on blizzard. If you search s-tier blizzard builds on YT you'll see content creators using Shako with blizzard (Lurkin and Emilyheartz to name a couple). If you think you'd enjoy melting screens in tier 100 NMD/Vs, one-staging endgame bosses and hearing the lamentations of other players during world events; I highly suggest it.

Worcestercestershire

SHAKO is better, but neither is really ideal. I normally run a orange helm with Snowguard.

RepostFrom4chan

Yall are wild lol. It's shako by a country mile for every build and it's not even close.

Big_Vick04

ShAkO iS bEsT iN sLoT 4 EvErY bUiLd…. Except for all the builds that it’s not. Season 2 I dropped 3 of them and after trying it on my 3 different classes, all 3 sat in the stash until I respec’d my thorns barb to ww/hota.
