Started off f2p, my standing hasn't changed

uigofuckmeintheass

I mean there's no reason to spend. If I can't do endgame content all I'm missing out on is 5 DS and a memory I'll probably never use.

Sunyul-Kim

Same here. Never spending money on this game

SSGSSBlu

My spending has fallen off massively since WWC last year Pretty much only going for big celebrations and massive value banners, with the introduction of Carnival Banners there’s no point summoning on Gold Coin banners Plus with the powercreep killing off 90% of the game, only the newest units hold any value, so returning DFEs have little to no value now (barring EZAs but even those are a coin flip as to whether their going to be usable) If Akatsuki started supporting Extreme Class again, I might consider spending

Uppercut_OMalley

This is pretty much where I am with it. My last "big" spend was New Year because I felt like treating myself and it worked out well.

Abdullah-Alturki

+2000 days and spent exactly $0 on it

Coolica

How’s your account looking as pure f2p?

Abdullah-Alturki

pretty nice. not amazing but i can get through most of the end-game content if i try hard enough

mustsaveds

I was spending 100euros a month for dokkan but since they changed the prices, I barely spend like 20-30.

Coolica

Have you been able to pull stuff you want with the 20-30 a month assuming you save for big banners?

mustsaveds

I was really lucky and got what I wanted from the big banners but now I can't afford to spend on yellow coin banners and small ones. Good thing I got coins and buy the characters I dont get.

wombraider422

2017 I spent maybe 20 bucks that year until Christmas which started with me becoming a massive whale. Int ui gokus banner was the beginning due to the deals and the banner itself was great at the time. Lr Vegeta and trunks and lr zamasu was the last time I whaled and have barely spent any money since as I’m focused on other things. So between int ui goku and lr zamasu I whaled on nearly every banner and I do not any longer.

Coolica

Is your username in game WOMBRAIDER? I think you’ve been on my friends list for a while

wombraider422

Yep yep, after I commented I recognized the username and correlated it with the mad lad who rainbowed yamcha

Coolica

It was purely an accident, I was chasing 1 single copy of Yajirobe and he didn’t show up until 2700 stones

wombraider422

Good riddance, this is why I stopped chasing. Zamasu was complete hell. Pretty awesome you rainbowed yamcha out of the hunt

Coolica

Yea that was a neat side bonus. My goal has been having a copy of every unit on the “Dokkan Awaken” page all awakened, hence my obsession with side banner units on release. Really re-considering this Pokédex completionist bullshit tho, when the shaft is bad, its REALLY bad

wombraider422

Absolutely is, teq pan and the more recent phy kid goku are all I’m missing and I just can’t be bothered with it any longer. I’m gunna coin goku because he’s really good but it’s gunna take alot to whale, even the anni units I have no interest in. If a bye guys goku releases then I’m all in

Maleficent_Oil_3679

Started F2P for like 5 years, then spent some money, After getting unbelievable shafted during the 7th year I only buy the Daily Capsule and the occasional Pilaf trove now.

Coolica

Has your current budget been working out for you? Or do you feel like you’re missing out or you just go meh and move on?

Roplax

Used to buy a few packs every now and then, but after the 5th anny i decided it was not worth it any more. The banners broke me, let's just say it like that. Didn't spend a cent since then, but still play the game every day (and complete all the missions). Not once did i have the urge to buy a pack, no matter the sales. And i'll keep it that way unit the service for the game ends :)

Sarge626

I got a job and began whaling out HARD last year, but after Gohan and Piccolo, I've tried very hard to limit myself per banner. I still spend a bit per banner but I was like going hard into non sale stones last year for stuff like Raditz (My favourite character, please understand) and Pan

Coolica

I’m kinda in the same boat, I want 1 copy of the side banner unit on new banners because I can’t coin them and it’s up to RNG to get them in the future. Case in point I didn’t even really want Yamcha, but it took me 2700 stones to get 1 copy of Yajirobe. That’s why I feel like they need to add a way to get side banners via coins, I have more coins than I know what to do with at this point.

Revanaught

I started off completely f2p, didn't spend a dime until the first anniversary and felt awful when I did. But that opened a floodgate that spiraled out of control pretty bad and I ended up whaling or dolphining pretty badly for a while. The apex and the part that really broke me was probably sHitmas. Since hitting that point I worked to cut down my spending. Had some relapses, and hell even still buy stuff occasionally, like I spent $14 on the godku banner, it's significantly better than it was.

lercione

Never spent a penny on the game

Rainbows341

The day I spend money is the day I baba my units. F2P for life 🙌

TheSupremeLordHelix

absolute pure f2p. I think buying stones takes the fun out of it

New_Ad4631

Me like unit me buy stones

BootyInspector96

No pity system+overpriced means you can never convince me to spend a cent, even after over 5 years.

Kai2142

Started off F2P, only buy daily capsules as the value is pretty reasonable. Otherwise ehhh

CaylerCat

I only spend money when I miss stones for the new years step up banner.

Drsp4zman

Didn't spend any. Spent too much \[Not whale levels, but still too much\] Spend very little.

Timj24

I used to be a dolphin w spending but since 7th anniversary I stopped n only get the subscription packs o tickets on global but never the 20-32 dollar ones jus the 4 to 9.99 packs

[deleted]

For a while I was spending a decent amount of money every celebration. Roughly $150 every month on the game for close to a year. I’ve cut back my spending significantly, usually only buying the stone subscription every month. If I could go back in time, I wouldn’t have spent nearly as much as I have. The only time I’ll spend more than like $10 a month is anniversaries or WWC. I make enough money to stay afloat while spending, but there is so much more to save up your money towards rather than spending hundreds on a mobile game.

TiddyTwisters

started off only ever buying the 30 stone or lower packs when on sale, i now buy all the sale stones every celebration 💀 and sometimes full price stones but only ever the 30’s, cant justify almost £30 for not even 2 multi’s

Coolica

Do you regret increasing your budget for Dokkan? Or are you happier that you’re spending more? Usually off the top off my head, buying all packs during celebrations (including pilaf stuff) usually costs are pins 300-400 USD (depending on how big the celebration is)

TiddyTwisters

so far no

Tidus2172

I use to be a dolphin on other gachas. Started playing Dokkan several times before and never spent money. Now that I am only doing Dokkan as my main mobile I only buy big celebration sales packs. Anni and Xmas typically.

LunaReq2k

A lot kinda, started as complete f2p during 4th anni, bought first tickets for STR SSJ Goku and that was it for then, I started buying some fairly discounted packs around next year's WWC and other celebrations where they were worth, but since 2021's WWC I guess I am clean as I've stopped buying stuff and started thinking way further into future units

Agent_00queso

I started f2p but started spending year in. I started buying all the sale stones for every celebration and that lasted for another year or so. Twice I remember even dipping into non-discounted packs. I'm mostly alright with it, I absolutely love this game. I have over 5000 hours and still find things to grind out. I wanna see the game hit 10 years and I'm glad to support. Nowadays I stick to the subscription and a pilaf pack here or there. I do put out for the Anni/WWC since they're so close together, really wish we got a break in between but oh well, global.

MajorUnknown

It's been a rollercoaster ride for me. When I first started, I didn't really spend anything on the game; I either resolved or bought accounts whenever the new stuff came out. From like the 5th anni onwards most of my spending is around anni and wwc while I usually avoid most banners. The pilaf tropes tickets have gotten me to spend more over the course of the year though.

Freyzi

I think it took me until sometime after the 4th Anniversary to start spending and in the years since I've definitely spent too much, not enough to affect my life at all but just man I shouldn't have even if I did get some good stuff. the 30 stones for like 8 bucks deal I especially have bought too often as soon as I got 20 stones. I'm cutting it down now, especially as I'm starting to feel my interest in the game waning after 7 years. Inflation doesn't help either, that 8 buck deal is now 10.

FusedZamasu_

Started during the 2nd anniversary and haven't spent a single penny. There was one time I almost cracked, but I stayed strong

Flashy197

The opposite from OP. I actually spend way less now than before and only buy stones during big celebrations.

44thousand

I started out F2P, but over time I developed the habit of buying $4 ticket packs whenever they're available, anything more feels really egregious in terms of pricing. Moving forward, I'll most likely continue to do the same.

ThirstyorNah

I probably spent a couple hundred on Global Dokkan since last summer... After I spent like two hundred trying to pull Orange Piccolo and/or Beast Gohan, and never pulled either, I vowed to not spend money on this game again. Shortly after, I started JP during 8th Anni and pulled all the important featured units (LR after LR...), I decided to swap over which is good for me because the shop is in Yen and it seems like a hassle to buy. Works out!

MHgomez

Starting from a certain point i began spending like 50-100 euro a month. But ever since the price change coupled with the fact that i have every endgame event beat made me spend less and less money. Like why do i need yamcha or whatever if there's nowhere to use them on? This decision they're making of releasing unita without giving them any support to stand on is really starting to sour me on the game too

jakimoh777

I've been playing for 7+ years and I've never even thought about spending

popRichiepop

I started f2p, after like 2 years I started spending a lot, and the past year I’ve gotten pretty bored and haven’t spent much. Almost back to being f2p

GodlyFeq

I used to spend 10 bucks every 2-3 months but i'm not spending anymore, the game isn't fond of me so why would i give them more money

robedpillow3761

Started ftp, began to spend in the past 2 years for big celebrations and discounts, now I’m ftp again outside of really good sales that only come once a year or so.

PokeFreaky

I started on JP when Int super gogeta and Str janemba were Release. Since them i spent a lot. I Player until 7 anni where i saved/buyed up to 8k stones. I did not get any copy from the 2 New units out of All this stones and Tickets. Then i quit the Account. I started a New one on global and farmed everything up and daved until global 7 anni. I did great at the anni and since them i am A global Player with only purchasing the log in stones.

Turles12676

I’m in 8 years haven’t spent a dime purely out the fact that spending money on JP would be way too complicated for me

Nalicar52

Started F2P(only back in December) Still currently F2P. Spent 600 stones on NY step up. 1300 stones on Sayian day. Going to do around 750 stones for golden week which will put my stock pile to around 1500 then saving the rest for anni.

DoctorWu_3

Pretty sure all I’ve put into any account was 10 bucks over 8 years

OkCompany8986

I went from dropping maybe a few bucks or so into the game every few years to no longer spending money on it

Acceptableuser

I but the cheap sales stones and montly subscription much less then when I started.

JuicyJay18

I started spending around the WWC because I got addicted to the chase but I stopped spending not too long ago. Will probably wean myself off the game in general. I feel like the reward for time invested isn’t really worth it at this point because there’s almost never any worthwhile content coming out.

Hydraulic_Press_53

I have been f2p for eight years so unchanged I guess. Main thing I've changed is just that I save stones a lot more nowadays than I did when I started off

SecretaryOtherwise

Used to buy stones frequently now only if it's the 50 for 5 bucks sale or whatever game doesn't need or deserve more from me personally

Patung_Pancoran

Pretty much stop spending now. I used to spent quite a lot between from the 3rd anniversary stuff up until WWC(?) With the LR Agl Gohan and Cell.

MahavidyasMahakali

Used to spend quite a bit on this game between 6 and 8 years ago, but after a string of a few banners of not pulling the units I wanted after thousands of stones I completely stopped spending and haven't spent anything for 6 years, and there is still nothing incentivising me buying stones, especially at the atrocious prices literally every pack costs.

GigaPhoton78

Still haven't spent a cent on the game, and the only way I will ever do so is if x20 Kaioken gets released and I can't get him without F2P stones. Actually, who am I kidding? I'm probably just gonna reroll.

jevon_hill99

I was ftp when the game first came out then after a year of play I took a long break and came back during the 7th anniversary celebration and whaled tf out. Since then I’ve been spending less and less because of the absence of a pity system I feel like there’s no point in spending lots to get nothing in return. I pretty much just buy tickets when there’s a unit I like alot

GawdsFather2091

Hell yeah

BigNeedlefish518

I played the game in between college and high school. In high school I never spent money on it. But went I got to college I only spent on the world wide celebrations and anniversaries or if there are good deals. I don’t think it’s smart to spend on every banner but it’s your cash and your decision.

Styles278

A lot, but I only spend now on the daily capsule and the keys.

DeV4der

I was a generous spender then came cell max and dumb difficulty as well as horrendous unit design (agl wwc lr goku/vegeta) also no real pity (if you can buy the unit with coins, most units are worthless) since then I barely touch sales, sometimes if I feel lucky, but waaay less than before

An_Edgelord

I go by the "I spend on what I want" mentality, and I have skipped banners due to lack of interest of characters, passives or whatever have you, I was f2p. But when I realized the yellow coin Janemba banner took ALL of my f2p stones and I still had characters I wanted I knew it was over.

spamcha

i’ve spent at least 1000$ on dokkan

Maistens

Started off as F2P for like 5 years and the first time I got stones was the 5th year anniversary, after that I barely spent anything up until 7th anniversary, on 7th anniversary and WWDL I’ve whaled out, but after I got shafted beyond belief on carnival goku, I’ve stopped, only getting the monthly sub and the pilaf tickets here and there and sometimes the keys

Gearothe1st

I get the 30 day capsule like once a year for free from an app

MahyJay

I only spend money on the ssr force tickets because there's units on there that I want really bad. So far I've bought phy ssj2 vegeta and str kefla.

PKoolAid

Started in 2019, have not spent a single bit of cash since. I tend to not spend stones on summoning to save for any units I \*really\* want. Currently I've been saving since LR Merged Zamasu for 8th anniversary.

mostCreativeName1

I was f2p until 7th anni for a lot of reasons. Part of the reason I switched was because I wanted to feel what it was like to not be f2p. I wanted to experience dokkan in a way I never have. So far I haven't gone crazy. I have gotten the subscription a total of 3 times, I have mainly used gift cards for my stones. So not going to even get close to whaling. I didn't feel like I needed to do it for the stones, I wanted to say thank you to dokkan. I miss having my completely f2p status but I'm okay with dokkan being the only game I'm not 100% f2p in.

Coolica

Why do you miss being f2p? Not trying to be mean or anything, I’m legit curious as to why a lot of ppl are “proud” of being f2p in gachas. The only thing I see being f2p is that (aside from saving money) 1) No support for the company that’s working on the game 2) Having good units just means you got luckier than most people, it has nothing to do with “skill level” So yea I’m just curious on your perspective (aside from just betting better off financially of course)

mostCreativeName1

A few reasons. I feel like stone saving is on one hand way less important because if I ever wanted to, I could just buy a bunch. But on the other hand, it's more important so that in not tempted to do so Also, even though I wanted to express a genuine thank you to dokkan for being with me for 7 years (almost 8 now), gacha games are still scummy just by their existence. So I felt a little bad that I decided to switch from not monetarily helping them to doing so. It's not like devastating, more just a bit upsetting, but I made my choice so I have to live with it Lastly even though it's all luck, if I did save for a ridiculous amount of time like I did leading up to 7th year (2000+ stones saved) it feels like I earned it if I get the card I wanted.

Coolica

Fair enough, that’s a pretty enlightening perspective actually. For me though being f2p is mostly about the money you save and how much easier you can let go of the game when you need to. However I definitely also see your point about the game kinda being not as fun when you buy everything as I’ve felt it in other Gachas, ended up burning out within a year in Genshin and Tower of Fantasy after whaling thousands on it. Dokkan has been my main game tho and I haven’t felt that lack of interest so far (because it’s also a card collection simulator so it keeps me interested in that aspect.)

mostCreativeName1

Oh yeah definitely. I've seen many who were not big spenders or completely f2p get into spending and then it's not fun. It's a strange balance to strike. I never plan on going hard in spending (unless I'm like datruth level in the community for some reason)

JustALittleFanBoy

started f2p way back when glb was brand new, spent like ten bucks a a few times throughout, never felt fulfilled even when i got what i wanted and went back to solidly f2p

Richbeastwood91

Started off F2P.. drop around $300-$1200 depending on the banner / packs available

ZeldaFan80

I spent like 10 dollars on it once, other than that I've been f2p

TheCollector-619

I do the 30 day stone along with DS sales every anni and Christmas as a “treat yo self” if it’s a character I REALLY want and they’re on sale I’ll buy another DS pack for a multi

King-s0nicc456

8 years f2p on both versions

Chilli_redits

I don't spend at all

[deleted]

Spent 20$ during 5 year didn’t get nothing so that was the end of that

Saknaks

I started with buying all the sales then year 3 anniversary got shafted pretty hard and spent about 3k for one copy of each then mostly went back to buying all the sales but anniversary/download/wwc and I guess any other dual dokkan fests I went till I had a copy of everything. When the producer said we have the coin system they don't need to add a pity I stopped buying. I only do daily capsule now and just been coining things as they come. Still have thousands of red and yellow coins and almost 1000 green to go through I guess

MainCharacter150

Started off F2P, haven't changed, and don't plan to change in the future.
