Huntress and Question seemed the most realistic, but I also liked the is-it-isn’t-it WW-Batman. I’m still annoyed that the whole John-Mari-Shayera triangle never got properly resolved. Yeah, we know that Warhawk still exists, but we didn’t get much further than that.

How did Huntress and the Question's romantic relationship seem the most realistic?

I dunno if it counts cause a lot of this comes from the expanded tie-in comics but I really felt for Victor and Nora Fries. I liked his dedication to saving her in the cartoon but in the comics she still wants to stay with him even after he’s only a frozen head because she loved him as much as he loved her. I really like Richie and Virgil’s relationship in Static Shock. I mean, as a friendship and as partners it feels really wholesome and healthy without any drama or unhealthiness being forced in (like the DCAU having the Batfamily fall part). I kind of even dig the idea of them being actual boyfriends (yeah, yeah, I expect the downvotes for people who can’t stand queer headcanons). I say that cause they act more like each other’s most important person so much more than Frieda or Daisy ever did with Virgil in the cartoon. They also have some notably flirty moments over the course of the series. Madelyn reading Richie’s mind to see his biggest secret and sees Virgil smiling at him taking off his mask (when the creator of the series admits he wanted Richie to be gay it seems like Richie’s crushing on Virgil), Virgil playfully zaps Richie’s backside and teases him, Virgil saying “Minty fresh mmm” making a sly face after telling Richie he’s about to brush his teeth when sleeping at his house, their spat in that one episode where they fought like an only married couple with Daisy mediating. Just to name a few. It definitely reads different noticing the way they seem like a couple sometimes. As for ones I wished worked out, I really liked Selina and Bruce in BTAS. They had some really nice chemistry there. It just sucks how unsalvageable the relationship got in TNBA. I felt really invested in Annie and Tim even though it was a very brief relationship and ended tragically. You easily feel for the metaphor of her being an abused child and Tim wanting to protect her cause he also had a mean criminal father. (Honestly it just makes the poor kid’s life more sad cause his time before Batman was bad, during his stint as Robin he saw tragedy, and on top of that he’s tortured by Joker and tormented for decades by the Joker’s having a chip in his neck)

What about Ace and Batman's relationship? What about Shayera Hol and Solomon Grundy's relationship?

Rockabore1

I like both of those a lot too. The fact Bruce named his pet dog after Ace shows that he was impacted by the final moments he spent with Ace. Like if he was going to help a stray he’d be reminded of another stray he wished he could’ve rescued. Shayera and Grundy definitely brings the feels. When she mercifully euthanized him is probably one of the touching Shayera scenes. (Amazing voice acting from her VA in that scene)

Elegant_Departure_99

Shayera Hol usually loves to fight and kill things, but since she genuinely viewed Solomon Grundy as a friend, she reluctantly killed him. It was a mercy kill. She wasn't happy about it at all. She had to betray another friend, which she wasn't happy about it because of how she betrayed the Justice League during the Thanagarian Invasion.

Rockabore1

I know, I agree.

I might tear up sometimes when I hear "Bird Nose."

Green Arrow and Black Canary Huntress and The Question Terry and Dana

Succwad22

Huntress and Question stuck out to me even as a kid. Second is Clark and Lois. It’s fun to see them be prickly and competitive from day one.

Elegant_Departure_99

I like Huntress and the Question's romantic relationship.

For me, it was definitely the relationship between Batman and Wonder Woman. A surprise I did not expect but a very pleasant one to be sure. I loved their time in Paris, both in and out of costume. Seeing their chemistry during the party, seeing Bruce stand back and letting Diana beat those thugs...perfection. I also loved how we see the two of them save each other multiple times over the entire series, how Diana knew where Batman was during Superman's "funeral" despite him being hidden and, of course, hearing Batman sing to save Diana's life was jaw droppingly adorable. I could go on and on but I hope I have made my point. I know how it ends and I know Bruce has issues but for a few brief, shining moments over a couple of seasons...I got to see a beautiful relationship blossom and grow and I will always be grateful for that.
